Not when this Mustang GTD will in actuality have well over 800 hp. The normal Predator engine in the GT500 already makes 700+ to the wheels (about 810 crank), which is more than the advertised power of the GTD. Add in a new supercharger, higher redline, new exhaust system, and dry sump oil system, you’re getting at least 850 hp, probably more. Rating it at 800 is very conservative. The GT2 RS’ 700 is comparatively low, and they can’t really get any higher without grenading the reliability of the engine. It’s not like it has very much displacement to work with, and 9000 rpm is practically the limit when each cylinder displaces 2/3 of a liter of air.
The weight of the gtd is the only factor otherwise it should be faster then the Porsche. It’ll have more horsepower and more downforce then the old gt2 rs plus the 50/50 weight distribution. The gt3rs will lose simply because of horsepower

@mikehenry7878 Dude that's the worst example you can give, and it doesn't make sense in comparison, nobody says the GTD wins just because of more power, it having more power gives it a bigger advantage, but that's IN COMBINATION with the rest of the car. Did you really even think about it ?
Why? They are different cars and the Mustang has much more weight and wider tires... is not Special Ford GT or Ford GT mk4 is a Mustang...How many car brands have super cars that are even more powerful than the Mustang and have even worse times on the track? Isn't it a shame that a Ford GT V6 is also faster and more powerful than many V8s or humiliates many V12s out there.....? Imagine if they made a V12 for the Ford GT, which was what it deserved and which people are thinking would have close to 2000 HP(imagine this car on the track...)... like the Henessey or Koenigsegg Gemera.
Austin, you know the reason for those extra large tires on the Mustang, same reason as the GT500 you owned; the car is heavy and large tires in the only way get it to grip. In the end, if you get this car the same thing will happen; horrible mpg, wears though brakes and tires and for that reason it will be too expensive to track often. Regardless, it will give you hits on your UA-cam channel so you will buy it if you can get one.

This is definitely not going to be or feel as heavy as the GT500. With all the weight saving stuff they did and lighter carbon ceramic brakes, plus the inboard suspension in the rear and control arm front, plus all the Multimatic stuff (including damper specs lifted right off the AMG One), this thing’s gonna weigh probably around 3500 and drive like 3000.
the answer seems to be NO, they have been testing at the "ring" for a considerable period of time. If they beat the 3RS time, we would know right away, yet still they are practicing... IDK but it would be nice to know. Now with the Corvette ZR1 out, the competition is tight, both the 3RS and the ZR1 cost considerably less than the GTD (which will be upwards of $400k with the critical options needed to be very fast
We are at peak over-compensation. The base models of these cars are plenty fast enough and will get you in a lot of trouble if you are rash or careless. I get it though. There are people that cannot restrain themselves and just have to have the most powerful, the fastest, the quickest accelerating car...at the moment. Even though high-end EV manufacturers have that base covered already. It seems like a fool's errand.
Austin, this Mustang will improve upon this rear engine car from that German brand. 6 minutes, 49 seconds isn't aught to scoff at, neither will it be when the first production GTD Mustang travels over to the Nordschleife in Deutschland. I want to add this to you, Austin. Whenever you watch that Mustang GTD on that track, I want you to see how flat the roof of it will be. Do you know the reason for this? It has aught to do with that perfect fifty/fifty weight distribution. I watched another video of it and it was on a wet track. All I'm able to type is that it performed flawlessly. I didn't see a car ever do that before I saw that one on the wet track. This was due to thst weight distribution and the four tires. As an aside, the Shelby GT500's are 305 millimeters at the front, while the rear pair are 315 millimeters, which is 10 millimeters narrower than the front tires pf the GTD. As you might known, whenever Ford sets their sights on a goal, they won't stop until they won. Do you additionally know the reason why they aren't telling the people of the world the weight of this absolutely amazing car? It's because of their competition. In the event they did publish it with more than a year away from the production version of them, their competition will have time to match ot lessen the weight of their cars. That's the reason why they do tell any of us the weight of each of them cars.

@@raionshishi8290 And also with GT3 RS levels of downforce, the Mustang GTD could get sub 6:40 on the Ring.
@@elijahprasad7884 That's the main information I wanna find out, is the weight and downforce, if both of those are better than the Merc let alone even close to the Porsche, this Mustang will be terrifying to see on a track.
@@raionshishi8290I'm guessing the same weight as the Merc and the same downforce as Porche, which should make it faster than both of them.

Since 2017. It's hilarious. They

Nope hope someone rents it out or makes a cheaper copycat.

Can’t wait until we see professional drivers go head to head in the GT3RS and GTD around the ring.
Well I will say a little heavier is better especially on the cornering 💪
GT3RS 3,268 GTD 4,000lbs. Cheaper, handle better because weight difference . Wont out brake, out turn or as easy on tires. GTD will have to make up in straight away pushing 730 lbs and also have to stop that much more weight at higher straight speed, over heating tires faster.... all equal. GT3RS for the win.
Looks wise, the GT3 RS won that but what really matters is the performance and hopefully that Mustang delivers.
Ford is a mass produced company. performance takes second priority in their eyes, but this is their second gt40 imo.
I enjoy listening to the details while we wait! Don't worry about those that need pop up pictures in books to entertain them!😂😊😊
I got my money, on the GTD!!
Not happening. A GT2RS MR posted a 6:38. When the 992 GT2RS comes out it will be even faster, always is. This is not Porsche's first rodeo...
@@mikehenry7878 Ford has brought a race car, and made it a street legal. With a lot of carbon fiber, magnesium titanium, and more horsepower, better technologically advanced suspension. When you all those together, that would translate to one thing. It will be absolutely beat the Porsche GTRS 2 and 3.
Anyone who says Ford are the same people who'd fight anyone not in a Ford. If the Ford is even remotely close when on a track I'd be surprised.
I don’t think this car will be faster than a GT3 RS but Ford priced this above because they are making it exclusive and they know people will buy it
This car will probably sit in garages for most owners. I hope Ford sells this to a few guys like you who will drive this
Reason I say that is because this car will likely be seen as a halo car by Ford. With everyone going electric this vehicle will have a good place in history
Why would you doubt that this will be faster than the Porsche GT3 RS, any actual reason why ?
@@leofhr2966 so what makes you think it's gonna be faster then? Because it's got more power?? a G63 Mercedes also has more power...
@mikehenry7878 You have to be trolling or just taking the piss, who compares these cars to a G63, how does that have any relation to these cars in comparison ?
@@leofhr2966 because everyone just keeps saying the mustang has more power therefore it must be faster. A G63 has more power too so by the same assumption then it must also be faster right? No. Exactly. There's alot more to it than just power figures on a dyno.
@mikehenry7878 Dude that's the worst example you can give, and it doesn't make sense in comparison, nobody says the GTD wins just because of more power, it having more power gives it a bigger advantage, but that's IN COMBINATION with the rest of the car. Did you really even think about it ?
if the Mustang would be slower on the race track as the GT3 RS with nearly 300 HP more ? It would be a huge shame for Ford.
You mean that's what Chevy been doing for years for their plastic car and speaking of Chevy when they come up with a new car it's disastrous can you say c8 lmao Ford comes out with the Ford GT and wins La Man's get my point Ford by far is the best American car made I don't own 2 Boss 302s for nothing. But 300 big 1s is a pretty big price tag.
Jess, it wont wear tyres as quick, because it will be way lighter, and, it has Carbon ceramic brakes !!
If you consider the 100 k mark up on the GT3 Rs , the price for the cars are similar.
What markup? There's no markup bud. That extra 100k is if you buy one 2nd hand, not from Porsche.
Austin, this Mustang will improve upon this rear engine car from that German brand. 6 minutes, 49 seconds isn't aught to scoff at, neither will it be when the first production GTD Mustang travels over to the Nordschleife in Deutschland. Do you have a guess at what it will do on that track? 6 minutes 27 seconds is my guess.
My guess is around 6:50 and that is on the conservative side cause I'd rather be surprised in a good way.
Austin, thank you for that answer. I greatly appreciate it.
@@302Mustang13
Tires.
That's the key.
None of these cars would be

I think it’ll do 5:09 minutes…. Maybe 4:26 minutes.. wait, hold on, is that chocolate cake for me..?
6:38 is mine. It won’t be faster than the AMG One, but it’ll be close.
Depends on how this mustang performs I hope Ford keep it in rotation
Ford is planning on just 1-2,000 maximum builds for the GTD.
@Loulovesspeed Well at least I hope they use the transaxle idea is there a high end Mustang
@@marlonelmorefreedomisoursn9744 - It's not an idea at this point, it's designed and built and will most definitely be used. Do some research on this incredible vehicle and look closely at the rear suspension set up. Multimatic both designed and built this, and it looks more like something you would see in F1 than a production street car! All billet aluminum which is stronger, more precision and much better than typical cast aluminum - and more expensive! The entire suspension system is state of the art.
@@Loulovesspeed yeah and you can truly appreciate the beauty of it just imagine a Ford would consider a permanent partnership with multimatic
@@marlonelmorefreedomisoursn9744- Well, I would say they have arranged just that as Multimatic also built the 3rd gen. Ford GT. The Porsche 963 hyper car and GTP racer was also built by them.
Any idea how much the GTD weighs?
I think that the Car is so heavy that Ford don´t want to tell it 😂
I could be wrong but I believe it weighs around 3,200 lbs
@@blank579 I think that the Mustang GTD has over 3500 lbs because the Dark Horse has nearly 4000 lbs and over 500 lbs less weight with this Car and size is not possible.
It weighs less than the GT500 for sure
@@alengreen589 the Mustang GT3 is sub 2800. This hardly should be over ~3500.
Lotta hype Austin....When i look at the Ford it reminds me of a cement truck, with wider tires ...enough said !
The doors on the Mustang GTD are aluminum. The weight is going to be a question, but probably under 3,000 pounds.
Ford is really the King and those blue oval boy's are putting it down right now. I'm Soo proud to be a die hard Ford man! First on race day, baby yeah!
The Mustang is too much for a body style that is so old. I think they should have just designed a new body style from the ground up.
While this overall design dates back to 2015, this version does have new sheetmetal and much different looking. I doubt Ford wants to invest significantly more money in what is already a great design especially when it's competitors and quitting.
But would it be a mustang after that? It may be dipping too much into GT territory
By that logic all the supercars that have a common version of the body style should be cheap too. Why not complain about them ?
Cars are less exciting when the dealers make it nearly impossible for most to even get a msrp allocation
Buyers are picked by Ford in this case dealers aren't a part of it except a delivery location
I think Ford went with wide tires because they want to put the power down and know that the car is going to be on the heavy side.
My opinion is the extra wide tires are to handle the extra HP. We will see :)
they both are sick Af GJ Ford
The gt500 was a performance bargain but for $300k ford has lost their and the success of their ford gt has probably gotten into their heads
I don’t think one can simply buy a GTD. As far as I know you need an invitation.
WOWWW MUSTANG!!!!!

One more time, Austin. That Porsche is not the best track car a person is able to buy. There are two other cars that have better track times than it. What are they? One of the AMG black series and i don't remember the other car. Yes, they were production vehicles. This Mustang GTD will annihilate the competition, whatever car company it comes from. Austin, Ford announced the next GT500. The horsepower of those engines will be between 850 to 880. It's going to be be ultimate and the absolute best musclecar ever built.
Austin you rock! Peace
I never could see why anyone would pay this kind of money on a Volkswagen
But isn’t the GTD designed to compete with the GT2 RS? I mean I just saw an M3 CS walk a GT3 so obviously an 800hp Mustang can too, and then some.
Ford is benchmarking the GTD against the GT2 RS and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
@dustingre8 yes, and that's why thr M3 CS was a hair quicker. It's not really a track focused car and doesn't have the heaps of aero to create drag
The M3 is not quicker than the GT3
