Top Gear actually going in depth? This was really interesting, that Manthey guy clearly knows exactly what he's talking about, probably an engineer as well
I'll probably get hate for this (again)...but if/when they get 8 seconds off, it'll be 6.36.8...and that is extremely fast...my point is, I would still have expected more from an AMG-One than being 7s faster than a car that has half the horsepower and is at best 8% lighter.... and cost 1/5th of the price. I know every second at that high-end comes at a high price...the AMG-One has a F1 drive-train, it's a Hyper-Car....

6:36 would be on the "short" circuit. The compared time to the one would be 6:41, which is a bigger gap but having in mind, that the record was set with the race mode, which technically you are not allowed to drive on the road and on the nordschleife during tourist drives. So with the street legal mode the RS would possibly wipe his exhaust pipes with the ones time.
The AMG One weighs 3,737lbs, was on street tires, and bottomed out hard in several sections. It putting down a sub 6:30 time is absolutely insane for a road legal car, and we shouldn’t at all be diminishing that. If Porsche, or really MR, get within 8 seconds of that by giving the GT3 RS even more aero, great. The ring is Porsche’s back yard, it’s obvious they’re going to optimize the hell out of the car to extract every last bit of performance out of for a flying lap. Would this take away from the absolutely monstrous time the AMG One put down? No, and it makes little sense for people to start believing so.
