I've never fished the Klamath. I did fish the Rogue up in Oregon and Steelhead are something else. I like the truthfulness of your videos. Some UA-cam videos don't show the whole truth of fishing and the dedication it takes. Great video!
If you’re fishing with an indicator rig I’d recommend throwing a split shot and then a runner legs about 4-5 ft below and then a a bead about a foot or ft and a half below that. If you decide to swing some flies with a Spey rod, a bead head assassin will work miracles for you but you may have to change sink tips depending on how cold the water is. Swinging flies on the Klamath is a blast but it’s a numbers game! I hope to run into you out there!
I’d literally pay you to take me to where the steelhead fishing is😂 I’ve lived in Klamath my whole life and never knew there was a place to steelhead fish here!
@@caellumreed1156 Yes, it is a very long and windy road all the way to the ocean, but the fish when they are running, will be all througout the system.
Yeah I actually mapped it out the other day! It sure goes way the heck down there! Haha still a decent drive from Klamath towards the bottom but I’m sure it’s well worth it! Learn something everyday! Thanks for the video.
The larger steelhead are often finicky but those "half pounders "which can actually be up to 3lbs are usually more forgiving. I love taking home a chrome hatchery steel absolutely delicious!
I like the reddington rods, my go to 9' 5 weight works great as an all around trout rod for the reno nv area I fish, great video as always thanks for sharing!!
It’s really a fun float below iron gate. Very healthy population of adults and 1/2. I imagine wading presents some challenges. Be interesting to see what happens when dam comes down .

Next time you come out here hit me up. I've watched your content for years and would love to get you out on the drift boat to return the favor. I'm down in the Somes Bar Happy Camp area.

Love that water.

I heard you could just go a ways down below John. C and find them but I have no idea how far down you have to drive😂 that road is long and bumpy!

Expect all hell to break loose after you set the hook! Lol...

It was tough or impossible walking along the banks. The brush was thick and in spots had thorns bushes/blackberries. It looked perfect for floating.

The run behind the salmon has come to a hault the past week or so. Half pounders abound thought.
Ah yes, the fish of a thousand casts.
