Hi Adam, i just got my 1st RC, the Deadbolt24. Thanks to your videos and guide, im a happy man. Soon to do upgrades using ur videos as a reference point. Thanks man.
This video is the reason I subscribed, Thank You Sir!! The info in this video saved probably all five of the 24s I just bought from premature motor failure, they all had super tight binding wheels!! I wouldn't have checked that before I watched this video, glad I gave your channel a chance.
If you upgrade your motor pay close attention when plugging everything back in. Got mine last week and started upgrading right away. I ended up swapping the motor and the battery plug and fried my ESC so I now have an almost fully built bronco waiting for an ESC to come so I can finally try it out
Adam…. Once again you’ve outdone yourself. I just purchased a set of 900 batteries for mine and my sons JLU’s. Always appreciate your content. Thank you 🙏💪😎👊
Ok, this is the second video of yours I've watch and I'm now subscribed. You know, I could be watching you explain how to milk a goat, and I'd be happy. I'm so tired of content with poor delivery. Then I watch this and am absolutely amazed. You're calm, eloquent, slow, clear, logical, and comprehensive. The way you talk is the way I think. It just makes sense to me. I'm just grateful we're talking mini crawlers and not milking goats! Looking forward to going through more of your videos. Thank you. 🙏 ~ Josh
Lots of great info for a newbie like me! Your videos have really helped me get into this hobby. You're always very clear and concise, much appreciated!
i just recently got into the hobby, and dont even have any 24 scale rigs, but i watch a ton of your videos on them because you make it interesting, you have made the decision for me that my next one will be a 24, i have a trx4m H.T. and i am slowly getting tnat modified, and im diggin the small scale content ALOT!!
My son told me this when I quit smoking and started vaping. A lot of things on mods don't need overtightened. He said "make it hand tight not man tight"thought that sounded good for this hobby as well. Thank You for the heads up on bead locks!! Just ordered a couple of sets and tires too. Going to go slow on upgrades to a couple of trucks and try to keep a couple stock till I get more run time on them. Also compare the performance. My 2 cents for now!!
In response to tip 4. If you replace the ESC/Receiver combo, and your motor still doesn't turn, it's the motor, but keep the new electronics board as that will help. I know this from experience, I used to fry motors left and right in the SCX24. That was until I started taking the tape off the stock motor. Once you do that, it will basically be immortal. It will only be immortal until you add massive amounts of weight. You're welcome.
I love the tips on the stamped steel wheels. Makes me think differently about them having that crazy offset. Off to injora to buy another set of wheels! Thanks for the tips!
Love your videos, just found them the other day. Instead of just fading in and out you should put some kind of into/opening scene in that gap. Keep up the great work!

I didn't touch them again for about a week till I watched some videos... than I ran them on my daughter's scx24 deadbolt for about 2 weeks and changed them out for some bright green aluminum beadlock wheels from Amazon...I will use the black rcawd on another build

I bought the MIP tools you recommended as well as the eco power charger and battery for my fms also the swamp kings and bead locker wheels. Mine came with the old style box but thank god the portal gears are metal. If I remember that’s what you were talking about in another video. New box metal gears in portals old box sometimes?? Next up is aluminum steering linkage and aluminum wheelbase extension kit not the 3d printed one! Just my preference. Thanks for the advice! I’m gonna love this new hobby of mine I suspect 😊
Great video, Adam. Ever had a LiPO puff for seemingly no reason? They get puffy when you exceed their current draw spec, sure, but what about when it's just sitting in a box and you haven't used it for some weeks or longer, and you come back to find it puffy? I've been using LiPO batteries for nearly 20 years and currently have maybe 150 of them in sizes from 50mah to 12000mah, 1S to 8S. In all that time I've lost 3 to failures or damage before their time (which is about 500-800 charge/discharge cycles for any lithium chemistry). The key to the longevity, for all lithium cells, is to store the LiPOs at 3.8v/cell. Any charger you go out to buy wants to have a Storage program on it, which will balance the cells down to that level per cell. The LiPO can then be stored for maybe 6+ months before you need to pop it on Storage charge again. I manage mine on a chart so no battery gets overlooked :) Keep up the great work. You have excellent delivery and I LOVE your workout/24th scale basement/playground there :D
Thank you for the info! I need to further educate myself on lipo storage and this is really helpful. I have only had one lipo failure and it was a nearly new 350mah from an scx24. It puffed up on the first charge. I caught it quick thankfully. My basement has become a total mancave playground! If it were finished/heated I would never come up and out of it LOL

Hi Adam, Great Videos mate, brand new to mini crawlers. Is there a difference between the the SCX24 in the C10, Power Wagon and the JLU under carriage?
Check out the gens ace charger. It’s amazing. However it’s over$100 but I use it to charge my big Kraton batteries as well. HRC is great to. Both are dual battery as well
I would love to see a video like this on the TRX4m lots of confusion on how to start upgrading. I wonder if I give it more time better kits and products will come out, particularly shocks and lifts. 🤔
Just picked up the rc4wd stamp steal wheels hoping for the 4 piece. But was bummed to see like they switched to a 3 piece and u can’t switch the hex onto the other side
Well if we are modifying the tray already the agfrc b13dlm is the only way to go. You can also wire the black and red direct to battery plug, your welcome.

Hey, you going to do a quick run down on the trx4m like this by chance? I don’t want to spend huge $$$ on a servo for that yet but I might do the injora upgrade since it’s relatively cheap with the new servo mount. Any thoughts?
I could do a first five mod video like I did for the axial. I just got the new Injora setup and it’s great! I would certainly recommend that as a servo upgrade!
Hey Adam question! Just finished my Injora buggy and I’m really not happy with the Injora transmission (I can tell it’s binding) . What’s your favorite to use? I’m using a Pancake, Lizard Ult, noble nb4, and Honey Badger Servo.
My favorite is the Furitek stellar transmission. Next favorite would be the LGRP billet aluminum setup. Mofo RC also has a brass transmission fully built which I have never tried, but I am certain it's amazing.
@@CapeCrawlers … awesome thanks! You caught my attention when you said you burnt a few motors up with the spur gear nut too tight. lol. My buggy “lifts” in reverse and squats going forward. Is that because of the over-drive in the Injora front axle or you think it’s binding in the drive train?
@@bladeaddison3189 it's tough to say because the SMP has a ton of power. You're going to get some movement from the torque. Does it lift even at low speed and gradual throttle? If yes, it's likely something binding or causing drag.
@@CapeCrawlers … yeah the minute I reverse it starts to lift and then back forward it sucks down. Strange. As you know the buggy is tough to work on with no real frame. lol. I’ve pulled the tranny and motor twice torquing and “loosening”. lol
My little eco power does not. I have a battery checker that can discharge, and I’ve also bought a comprehensive charger that can store, balance, discharge, etc.
If you can't do the wheels up tight then something is wrong the back of the hex will be touching just sand abit off the back of the hex not having the wheels tight is just a quick fix
I think I would do the gladiator! It has less shortcomings to address and you could spend more money on performance improvements, not just sorting out issues.
It depends which one you like more. For me, I still prefer the scx24 because it has deeper aftermarket support and more options to do pretty much anything you could ever imagine. The fcx just isn’t there yet. BUT the fcx24 is a monster with some minor upgrades
I have a question, so I have a Scx24 gladiator and it has a weird torque twist. Just sitting there not moving it sits to one side and when I accelerate it just gets worse, do you have any experience with this? It is lightly modified with injora shocks
Arguably the deadbolt for both. I would lean more towards the C10 in modified condition. The gladiator is a monster when upgraded as well. It's tough! But out of the box I feel like the deadbolt is the best performer.
I would say pick the one that you like the looks of the most, or that speaks to you. The best thing about this hobby is the ability to build and customize a little truck exactly the way you want it. The only limit to these things is your imagination.
Hey ..i have a problem..when I turn my machine on it takes off in reverse. Can I rebind my transmitter to the machine to fix this?..I've also had terrible luck with the stock battery..I have 3scx 24 and I really like them ..but the battery trouble is terribly agitating...anyway ...I just bought the 3rd on 1.25 and t9day is 1.27 and the battery now when I turn it on the wheels turn to the left by them selves..and the barrtry goes dead over night. I guess it has phantom draw..could this be a bad ecs..it's a brand new machine...I would appreciate any advice..thanks..
Which model is it? The reversing could be a throttle dual rate adjustment on the transmitter. It sounds like a bad esc though given the steering issues at the same time. Make sure you are unplugging your battery after use. If left plugged in they’ll drain pretty quickly
Not having the knobs makes it a little tricky for your adjustments, I do agree there. I believe the green middle LED will blink when you find center during your trim adjustments. I saw a video on the hidden functionalities of the transmitter but can't recall whos channel it was on
I made some mistakes in the first video regarding tool sizes and I feel like that's a critical piece of information. I couldn't let it go without correcting it.
There was incorrect information in the first one. I couldn't let that go, not for a video aimed at beginners. So I re-shot a lot of it. The last thing I want to do is give newcomers incorrect info.

Thanks for watching!
If you had $400 to buy and upgrade a 1/24 would you do the Axial SCX24 Gladiator or the Axial XC-1 4WS?
I think I would do the gladiator! It has less shortcomings to address and you could spend more money on performance improvements, not just sorting out issues.
do u no wat metal servo horns will fit eco power servo
Can i have the link to the tires on the c10?
Here you go: www.powerhobby.com/powerhobby-mudboss-micro-crawler-tires.html
Looks like they're out of stock though..
Hey man its me again lol should i build a scx24, buy and upgrade a scx24 or buy and upgrade a fcx24? Thx for everything u do
It depends which one you like more. For me, I still prefer the scx24 because it has deeper aftermarket support and more options to do pretty much anything you could ever imagine. The fcx just isn’t there yet. BUT the fcx24 is a monster with some minor upgrades
That rig c10 do you sell that hard top?
I got it from RC4WD. They sell it for $25
I have a question, so I have a Scx24 gladiator and it has a weird torque twist. Just sitting there not moving it sits to one side and when I accelerate it just gets worse, do you have any experience with this? It is lightly modified with injora shocks
Mine does the same exact thing. I haven't been able to pinpoint it. I wish I had more insight but I haven't been able to solve my own twist!
@@CapeCrawlers thank you, I think if you get a brass skid plate and brass boulder bars, it may fix it. I may try it
Which scx24 model is the most capable totally stock? & Which scx24 is the most capable fully modded?
Arguably the deadbolt for both. I would lean more towards the C10 in modified condition. The gladiator is a monster when upgraded as well. It's tough! But out of the box I feel like the deadbolt is the best performer.
@Cape Crawlers wow okay.. I was leaning towards the jeep JLU. Kinda thought the deadbolt was the least capable from the vids I've watched.
FMS 1/24 or SCX 1/24..?
You mention keeping blue loctite, and also not tightening screws/nuts very tight. What pieces/parts do you recommend using the loctite for?
Can I still use hex extenders with portal axels?
Yes! I have them on the gladiator.
@@CapeCrawlers do you ever have a hard time with them falling off? Like the lug nut just isn’t long enough
Hi Men, you build too much crawlers .. I don't know which one to choose to build something similar? any advice?
I would say pick the one that you like the looks of the most, or that speaks to you. The best thing about this hobby is the ability to build and customize a little truck exactly the way you want it. The only limit to these things is your imagination.
@@CapeCrawlers and money ;)
@@CapeCrawlers i have deadbolt so i go that way..
What shocks r u running on that bronco ?

You have the link for your battery charger..
Yes, here you go: www.amainhobbies.com/ecopower-electron-li32-ac-lipo-balance-battery-charger-23s-2a-25w-ecp-1004/p698674
I’ve had a SCX24 for maybe a couple weeks? And the motor is dead. Is that normal?
Not uncommon. The stock motor and servos go pretty quickly
thankyou sir
Am I the only one who find the V2 receiver hard to use? I tried to zero out my steering but I can’t figure out where it’s at currently
Not having the knobs makes it a little tricky for your adjustments, I do agree there. I believe the green middle LED will blink when you find center during your trim adjustments. I saw a video on the hidden functionalities of the transmitter but can't recall whos channel it was on
What’s with the repost?
I made some mistakes in the first video regarding tool sizes and I feel like that's a critical piece of information. I couldn't let it go without correcting it.
REUPLOAD?
There was incorrect information in the first one. I couldn't let that go, not for a video aimed at beginners. So I re-shot a lot of it. The last thing I want to do is give newcomers incorrect info.
Im interested in getting a little crawler RC for the first time. Can anyone recommend me an affordable starter?
Check out the hobby plus Cr18p. Affordable and great performer

Let’s go out moon I will give you the mango man
Woohoo! First comment! 💯❤️
👍👍
Adam u should try and color match the topper and black out the window on the c10, It would look badass
Good idea. The white is starting to look pretty rough from use. Colored to match would be very sharp!
Re-upload???
Yes, I had some incorrect tool sizes in the first one and I can't let that go uncorrected.

I don’t, but I’ve been asked that question a few times lately. Thinking I should set one up!
