If you want to be extra safe, use a separate machine to search for your test answers manually. Its tedious, but it pretty much ensures 100% safety when summoning some extra 'help.' Especially if you have a screen cap.

So when the RESPONDUS LOCKDOWN BROWSER said it will be audio, video, and screen recording will that mean it will be only recording the VM screen but not the main screen where you are free to do research on browser. Or will it be recording both? Like I'm aware you got RESPONDUS LOCKDOWN BROWSER downloaded in the VM to test out. But once you click on the link for the exam is it possible that it be recording both screen?
This DOES NOT WORK as of 10/18/2021 i tried to a practice test and everything looks fine until you actually start the test with question its closes and says it will notify your teacher you are using a VM

Great work getting this to work! Unfortunately I haven't gotten the copy paste to work on oraclebox without downloading the "Vbox Extension pack". If you download the extension pack, Lockdown Browser will detect your VM. Time to become an expert typer! :)
This video has been very helpful to me as I am in a very precarious situation. Before I found your great, and to-the-point video, I had clicked on a different, and inferior tutorial video with a young fellow named Mohamed. Not really sure why his face was visible so frequently for a software tutorial video but anyways my dad walked in while I was watching said-inferior video. You see, my dad unfortunately has a deep hatred for videos that are not very to-the-point, in-depth, helpful, or that have their face shown three times in a single thumbnail. Him seeing Mohamed's face on my PC monitor stopped him in his tracks. He dropped his bowl of Trix cereal(it's not just for kids) on my carpet and then he flew into a rage. He started screaming at me about the importance of getting straight to the point in tutorial videos and how our family should only support quality youtube tutorial creators. I hurriedly closed out of the tab once he bent down to pick up the bowl of Trix. But that's when he noticed Mohamed's thumbnail (face 3 times) and he started seeing red. He proceeded to throw the Trix bowl at my PC monitor and then ran to the garage. I sat trembling in fear, wondering what he was doing. It felt like a lifetime that he was gone but it couldn't have been more than 30 seconds before he stormed back into my room with jumper cables in his hands. It was at that point he started relentlessly beating me down with jumper cables. Anyways thanks for the vid. Now I can learn how to cheat without getting beat down with jumper cables.
By using the virtual box extension I am able to use web cam in virtual machine. Also audio input(microphone) and output (speaker) is unable same as the host machine. Now my question to you is after following these steps will I a be flagged?

Don't use your mac username. You should be able to find the correct username on the virtual machine: (In the virtual machine) Go to file explorer, select "This PC" > "Local Disk (C:)" > "Users" and try picking the usernames that are listed there.

@@alicezanetti203 Macs can do this too. It wouldn't matter if you used an HDMI before or after your room is scanned...the issue is your room being scanned. This method doesn't work for audio/video passthrough.

If you give the proper rights to users it should still work. Otherwise you can go to File Explorer and locate your "Users" folder. "This PC" > "Local Disk (C:)" > "Users" > and try using the usernames listed there.

Hey, i used this techneque and i enabled cam and audio after. but my lockdown broser detected i am using virtual mashine. is there a way that we change audio/camera detection ( becuz they knew i used virtual mashine from those two)
There's a working method out there for VMware, and for Virtual Oraclebox. Oraclebox gets fuzzy though, because you need to install an extension pack which caused a headache because there are new registry values to change. I haven't gotten that to work.

It is possible, but it may cause some head ache. Firstly, sorry for the late reply - this is a good question. Secondly, you need to install an addon for Oracle Virtualbox in order to copy and paste. Thirdly, its possible that Respondus records keystrokes like "Ctrl + C" and "Alt + Tab" and ETC. Here's a guide that I found that you can use to help you install the proper addon: www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-enable-copy-and-paste-in-virtualbox/ The next issue you might run into is the following addon changing some of your registry values, or adding NEW registry values that you need to change. @@dario1431 I've tried this with VMWare and it requires quite a few additional steps. There would be a VMWare video if I was able to get it to work. VMWare issues MAC addresses to their VMs that LDB is able to detect. I believe you have to go into the .xml file associated with the VM in order to change the MAC. I was unsuccessful in my attempts. VirtualBox is free, and although it doesn't look as good as VMWare, I recommned using that.
@@dario1431 you probably just aren't removing it all the way, and that's why it won't install. Go to control panel and try removing it from there. Or, using the Windows search bar, search for "VirtualBox" and right click it once you find it. Then select "Open File Location". This should bring you to the folder that holds the shortcut for the application. Right click the application's shortcut and select "Open File Location" again and you should end up in the folder that contains all of VirtualBox. Delete the entire folder named, "Oracle".

well actually this does work initially when launching the browser, but when you attempt an exam it immediately kicks you out of it and shows a moose on the screen and it says that it will be reported to your instructor cheating is bad for ya kids
SOLUTION: if it worked with you for the first time but now it doesn't then check your date and time. Make sure that the time and region is calibrated correctly

No. If Respondus records your screen, which I believe it does, it will only record the screen within your virtual machine. Remember, Respondus thinks that the virtual machine we made is a REAL BOY - like what Pinocchio wanted to be. :) Lemme know if this helps.

@@nikostavros2722 maybe its not letting you select your user account because you used your school's account as your Microsoft account on your VM. It's possible that your school's policies are being used with that account. I'd say try to configure the VM with any other email/Microsoft account.
the tests that requires to be launched from regular browser (eg chrome) into the lockdown browser just stuck on an infinite loading screen, but the normal tests that you can do directly from lockdown browser works, i followed all the steps is there a way to fix it

If you're following every step in here and you're not using a webcam, this is completely undetectable.

It felt like a lifetime that he was gone but it couldn't have been more than 30 seconds before he stormed back into my room with jumper cables in his hands. It was at that point he started relentlessly beating me down with jumper cables. Anyways thanks for the vid. Now I can learn how to cheat without getting beat down with jumper cables.

By using the virtual box extension I am able to use web cam in virtual machine. Also audio input(microphone) and output (speaker) is unable same as the host machine. Now my question to you is after following these steps will I a be flagged?

Don't use your mac username. You should be able to find the correct username on the virtual machine:
(In the virtual machine) Go to file explorer, select "This PC" > "Local Disk (C:)" > "Users" and try picking the usernames that are listed there.

It wouldn't matter if you used an HDMI before or after your room is scanned...the issue is your room being scanned. This method doesn't work for audio/video passthrough.

Hello, one question. On a laptop with touchscreen, what about a on screen keyboard and using the mouse to select the letters... It's a slower process but I think it will work...

I have not made any guides pertaining to Windows 11. I wouldn't recommend switching to Windows 11 just yet, because there are still too many applications that are not fully compatible in that environment.

after when i done all the steps i clicked on Lockdown browser. but on the browser tap it should show "Respondus" as you have it at "16:22"with the blue window". however, i have got "Canvas" on the windows tap, and instead of that blue window it shows me a page with a image and log in section.

So the problem is when I try to write my username on Permissions for Enum, it doesn't find by my name.On my old laptop I tried with my mail and it worked.However on my new laptop both username and e-mail does not working. So if I give the rights direct to "Users" will it also work ? and if not, how can I find myself on machine ?
If you give the proper rights to users it should still work.
Otherwise you can go to File Explorer and locate your "Users" folder.
"This PC" > "Local Disk (C:)" > "Users" > and try using the usernames listed there.

Hey, i used this techneque and i enabled cam and audio after. but my lockdown broser detected i am using virtual mashine.
is there a way that we change audio/camera detection ( becuz they knew i used virtual mashine from those two)
There's a working method out there for VMware, and for Virtual Oraclebox.
Oraclebox gets fuzzy though, because you need to install an extension pack which caused a headache because there are new registry values to change. I haven't gotten that to work.

It is possible, but it may cause some head ache.
Firstly, sorry for the late reply - this is a good question.
Secondly, you need to install an addon for Oracle Virtualbox in order to copy and paste.
Thirdly, its possible that Respondus records keystrokes like "Ctrl + C" and "Alt + Tab" and ETC.

The next issue you might run into is the following addon changing some of your registry values, or adding NEW registry values that you need to change.

@@dario1431 I've tried this with VMWare and it requires quite a few additional steps. There would be a VMWare video if I was able to get it to work. VMWare issues MAC addresses to their VMs that LDB is able to detect. I believe you have to go into the .xml file associated with the VM in order to change the MAC. I was unsuccessful in my attempts. VirtualBox is free, and although it doesn't look as good as VMWare, I recommned using that.

@@dario1431 you probably just aren't removing it all the way, and that's why it won't install.
Go to control panel and try removing it from there. Or, using the Windows search bar, search for "VirtualBox" and right click it once you find it. Then select "Open File Location". This should bring you to the folder that holds the shortcut for the application. Right click the application's shortcut and select "Open File Location" again and you should end up in the folder that contains all of VirtualBox. Delete the entire folder named, "Oracle".

No. If Respondus records your screen, which I believe it does, it will only record the screen within your virtual machine.
Remember, Respondus thinks that the virtual machine we made is a REAL BOY - like what Pinocchio wanted to be. :)

Try the first 4 or 5 characters of the email address you signed in with.
Or go to "File Explorer".
Select "This PC"

Try using one of the usernames there.

@@nikostavros2722 maybe its not letting you select your user account because you used your school's account as your Microsoft account on your VM. It's possible that your school's policies are being used with that account. I'd say try to configure the VM with any other email/Microsoft account.

Nope, it should give you the same issue as using any other camera.
the tests that requires to be launched from regular browser (eg chrome) into the lockdown browser just stuck on an infinite loading screen, but the normal tests that you can do directly from lockdown browser works, i followed all the steps is there a way to fix it
