Ms. Jean, in all the artists I've seen, YOU are the master! Your skies and landscapes are divine. I took an elementary class on how to mix colors without making mud, but I haven't mastered this yet. Obviously, YOU have! Thank you so kindly for these tutorials.
Absolutely gorgeous paintings!!! Thank you for demonstrating the neutral tint, I never knew about it. Thank you, you're a very talented painter! Love your work and have subscribed.
I appreciate the learning play times. I have taken myself way to seriously and that can be very discouraging when the masterpieces don't occur. Good for you for sharing how colors play.
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos. I'm learning so much. I'm curious at what you tape your watercolor paper to. I've used Masonite boards but I'm curious what you use. Thanks again for all the awesome tips. Just to let you know at Christmas I offered my paintings to my daughters who are both have in new homes. One daughter chose almost all the watercolors that I've done from your demonstrations. She encouraged me to go to a larger size. She was an art major at Savannah College of Art and Design. To say the least that pleased me. Her husband asked for a larger painting. Getting back to painting has really helped me through this pandemic time. I've escaped into a different world.
I tape my paper to plywood boards that my husband made for me in different sizes. Great that your paintings are loved by your family. It's challenging to go to larger sizes but you should give it a try.
I have not be able to paint lately due to physical elements and this was so good for me to try. I love your paintings (as i hope you know and remember me) You INSPIRE me! Thank you
Sorry to hear about your health Gloria. Hope you get better soon. And thanks for the lovely positive feedback. It's much appreciated. Glad this helped inspire you. I love hearing that.
Thank you so much; always. I come away from your teaching tutorial feeling so much more confident as though I can try anything!!! :-) I will certainly be doing a night sky like yours.
Fantastic as always! NOW I have more to practice and I'm still working on your courses....you are the best art teacherI have ever used on tube. Thank you thank you. I tried the first sky and I would like to put stars in it--do you think I should try salt?
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment Gloria. You made my day! For stars you could either flick white gouache or white acrylic ink with a toothbrush maybe. I don't know if salt would work well for stars.
I'm also watching your 'Paint Flowing Mist In Watercolors', but I don't have those gorgeous qualtiy large brushes you're using! If I have a lower priced synthetic w/c brush round sz. 10, what adjustments are needed to still get a loose flow-y effect? Or are there other low priced options that I can substitute? Also, do you stretch your paper first, if using 140 lb.? Thank you!
I tape my paper down and do not stretch it. There are good and bad synthetic brushes so it depends on what you have. I list the brushes I use below this video. Just click on "show more."
Would you please tell in your videos if you're working flat, on an angle (%), etc. as it is hard to tell with this camera angle. I'd like to know as the angle makes a difference in how the paint moves and whether I can achieve the same results. Thanks!
Hi Margaret. The bad reviews I read were from people who used a lower grade of watercolor paper. On good artist quality paper I have not had any bad experience so far. I am really liking the tape.
@@margaretdunlevy2032 Some Strathmore papers are not 100% cotton, and I'm not sure how they will react to the tape. If you can, I would recommend purchasing a paper that is 100% cotton. You will get much better results from painting on 100% cotton paper.
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I've got quite a bit of the Strathmore paper but I'll use it for test projects and fun doodles. I keep learning every time I paint and every time I watch one of your wonderful videos. Thank you!!!
@@JeanLurssen Yep, I already got there. Thankyou ❤️️ First I'm going for that mist one, so when I'm done painting it, and my dad finds it amazing, which will DEFINITELY happen (since you are soo good at this), then I'll do the rest of them.
Below the video you will see a description of the demo and below that in CAPS you will see the sords SHOW MORE, which is a link to expand the box that shows materials used. Hope this helps.
I think your art is magnificent! Thank you so much for teaching us all we can do landscapes from our feelings with the beauty of the lord.

Fantastic and I love your style ❤️👍
Thanks for teaching us. I love your landscapes!💟

I just love watching the way these skies came together. It is Amazing what a cheap dime store brush can do. Thank you Jean :)
I enjoy all your watercolour demonstrations and have learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
fabulous. I will give it a try. Thank you Jean.
Thank you for these lovely demonstrations. I'm going to try your techniques.
Beautiful!!!!!! THANKS AGAIN! Will try it!!!!!
Always a joy to see and hear as you create. Thank you...
These are great sky tutorials. Always enjoy your videos. thank you!
I REALLY love your "style" of watercolor!!

Hi Janice. that's my aim when doing these videos. I simplify to show you that it's not that difficult.
Thank you Jean - always love your video's!!!!
Always informative Jean. Will be giving these a try. TFS
Thanks Jean. I have to make a birthday card today and that second sky with an African tree silhouette will be perfect. Thanks again.👍😁
I've been using that tape for some time, now. I really like. It comes is varies widths.
Being a beginner I hated skies 😩 but after watching your amazing style of painting I’m beginning to really love them ! 👍😊😊
We usually hate the things we find difficult. Give it a try. One can create such interesting atmospheric skies. Just use your imagination.
I did enjoy this!! Thank you so much!
Stunningly, phenomenally beautiful works! Subbed!
so helpful
once again reminds me of ayexotic's night sky video.. good job !
Bravo!
Lovely demonstration!
Would like to know if you pre wet your paper?
I wet the paper for the first layer. Hope that helps.
Jean Lurssen thank you! I’ve already started painting the magenta and indigo sky...:)
i love your paintings. For these skies can you tell me what brush to use.
Hi Maura. There is a list of materials below the vidio with links to my amazon store. For the textures I use the hogs hair brush.

Do you use mostly granulating paints?
No I don't Sue. Only for some effects when painting landscapes.

I was mostly working flat and when I did put my board on the table easel I mentioned that in the video. Hope that helps.
The Amazon reviews on the masking tape you recommended aren't that good. Do you still like this tape?
Hi Margaret. The bad reviews I read were from people who used a lower grade of watercolor paper. On good artist quality paper I have not had any bad experience so far. I am really liking the tape.
@@JeanLurssen Hi Jean, I use Strathmore cold press 140 lb. so I think your tape should work well with it. Thanks for your quick reply.
