I always enjoy watching your work, and I always learn something. No question I’d have unalived myself hitting my head on something. 😂 Nice job again as usual.
Hmmm, not necessarily BUT I don’t know the situation…if he shimmed underneath the treads maybe the metal work was sub-par?? A few different factors there but ideally there should be no shims between the metal and the treads.
The metal work appears to be solid but I’m no expert. I almost wonder if they are temporary shims but the house is pretty much done so I’d think that they were permanent. You can see the shims on each thread when you walk upstairs so it’s kinda annoying cause these stairs were not cheap. I guess I just need to ask you he builder those important questions🙂.
The workmanship is excellent, but putting the lower steps in the middle of that room was not a good idea, they should have been closed to a wall, to leave the centre of the room clear and free .

My builder used shims on the stairs threads. I’m assuming to keep them steady. What are your thoughts on that? It that a hack job?

@@lukus348 ya, that’s not cool to see the shims…at all! Most definitely talk with your builder and let him know ur not totally pleased with it.
How much did this ladder cost?
how long did you do it?

I disagree, this was the only way that the steps would work correctly in this application. It’s only a few steps from opposite wall anyhow.
