Long time watcher, first time commenting. While Kevin is an extremely skilled driver, I’m always floored as to the level of skill Brittany has at spotting. Arguably more important than the ability to pilot through obstacles like that. Hats off to that power couple. Keep em wheelin.
I like when they go out in a group and the evergood intended spotter tries to over spot Brittany's. Sometimes Kevin (depending on the level difficulty) will follow "the good intended someone" other than Brittany. Not always but usually leading to failure. Britney' is 99% spot-on. The 1% she's not Kevin is so highly-skilled he pulls off The Impossible. Brittany's always humble enough at that time to admit "don't listen to me" . As she looks in disbelief and laughing...Kevin pulled often possible once again. They are a dynamic team! Have yet to see anyone come close to their skill and ability. If you listen to and watch them closely every time they wheel you could learn quite a bit. It has helped me tremendously in my off trail Adventures. Both Kevin and Britney have taught the workaround in problematic electronics that plague JL platform. To my knowledge they were the few first to recommend only wheel while on the rocks or difficult trail in manual mode. Thanks to the electronic 8-speed, and ecu programming that should only be in a jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep Renegade.
Love the stepchild before, and now it's a beast!! I don't trust many people but Brit I would trust with my life with her amazing spotting skills. It's not to often you meet a gal with so many skills. Keep the videos coming✌️💪
Love watching your wheeling videos been following lite bright for 5 yrs now you two are great oh by the the new and improved step child is a beast love the step child
I’ve broken two of those ELockers in my ProRock XD60 in two years time. Like you guys already know, the new ones have issues. I threw in the towel after the second one broke and put in an ARB. Jeep is looking great BTW!
Incredible driving and spotting (and editing)! Rocks and formations on top of Sand Mountain are incredible too - I wish I could hike up there but age and knees have their limits, so we drive! Always gotta be something go PoP! Keeps Chris busy. Looking at StepChild's suspension moves in this video - mesmerizing! LiteBriteNationPopCulture!
I'm tempted to say: "just run that e-locker until you grind it smooth!!!" but the problem is that is going to fail at the worst possible moment... The break-in runs have been nothing but spectacular great driving from Kevin, great spotting from Britt, and great Gatorade drinking from Bree!!!🤙🏼
Truly pro spotting and cooperation between driver and spotter! Great example for others. If the driver ignores the spotter, or delays, bad things can happen. You show how it should be done. I have also broken e-lockers. That and the way some unlock during directional shifts caused me to switch to ARB some time ago, using hardline brake line tubing for the air lines to address those issues. OX also makes really reliable tough lockers. Well done, and thanks for sharing.
Love seeing you back out on the trails!!! Brit's spotting and Kev's control over the vehicle make for an unstoppable team!!! Course having Step Child as your chariot helps!!!!
Thanks for the Contra reference. That made me feel old. Played the crap out of that game. After a while we didn't even need the 30 guys. We could beat the game with just the three you start with.❤
Glad to see husband and wife as best friends. My wife and I are that way been doing HPDE since 2015 and started jeeping last year!!!!!! She is been doing pretty good at the spotting. Hopefully Moab next year.
Kevin with your driving and Britney's spotting, You two are amazing!!! Love how great the jeep is doing. Just go with an Ox Locker up front and it will be perfect.
Not sure if you ever thought about OX offroad, but they are a Air locker that has a provision for if you lose your air, you can still engage your locker. Also American Made from Odessa, FL.
Another awsome video.. I freaking love the stepchild.. I've been watching that jeep since you had stepchild 1.0 when you guys had the house in Colorado.. she's come along ways and just keeps getting more and more badass...
Fairly amazing. As somebody who has never rock crawled, but has seen a lot of video of rock crawling, I saw you guys go thru some stuff, that honestly I would have thought was impossible to traverse in a vehicle. You guys made an amazing rig.
I had brake issues when I switched the Dana UD 60s they use the Ram 3500 Brakes ended up having to upgrade the booster and master cylinder to the J8 and use a scan tool for the antilock control module. everything was perfect after that. Glad to see the stepchild on the trails again!
Britt you are an outstanding spotter! Kevin is good at what he was doing in this video but you were the standout hands down. Thanks for taking us along!
Given the state of your build and concerns about air/electrical failure, you should look at an OX LOCKER. Internally mechanically-activated, externally you can choose between cable, air or electronic actuation. There's even an emergency plug you can use to lock and unlock the diff if your cable, air or electrical system fails.
All of our vehicles are 4wd. Last month I bought a new JLU to tow behind our Ram truck with a camper. Just for side trip adventures while camping. My wife cautioned me about upgrading the JLU to the "Lite Brite" level of adventures though. She claims it is okay to do whatever I want to our ZJ.
I just took my 2017 Rubicon Recon out for its first shake down after putting in the AEV 2.5 xt lift in my 2 door! Thanks for the epic build and adventure shake down information!! Canadian Eh I love this channel !!❤
You two are just great. The Step Child is a beast and as much as maybe you shouldnt be out there out there alone you can always make a call if necessary you arent far from home or help if needed. Nice workout. That thing is a beast. A few tweaks and it will be perfect. Now everyone with that platform is looking for a second job so they can duplicate it. Lol
I got a big pop from the front end several times last year in Moab when my e locker was engaged. One time I was looking out the window and I saw the drivers side tire ratchet or that’s the best way I can describe it. Didn’t look good and i immediately thought I popped a U-joint. Once I’d get to good ground I couldn’t find anything broken and the locker still works fine. No obvious signs of damage inside when I changed the diff oil. At least 10k more miles since. I bet it was skipping.
My Yukon locker would do that, the springs just were not heavy enough for 37's playing in sticky mud. I hear they have a heavier spring pack you can put in now to increase the clamping force to prevent the skipping.
It’s probably the e locker went through 3 of them before going back to an air. The Eaton just don’t seem to hold up on 40s with any kind of power. You guys are awesome keep it up. Hopefully catch you on a trail
Kevin has some amazing driving skills for sure. And Brittany is definitely a great spotter. But have you thought about a blue tooth headset to make communication a little bit easier? Food 4 thought.
I know Kevin is gonna hate this idea but this rig almost needs a suck-down winch to maybe lessen that anti-squat. This thing might be the most capable full body Jeep on the UA-cams!
Have you thought about powerstop pads and rotors? I installed them on my wrangler and so far they've performed flawlessly and breaking distance is half if not better than what it was. Also no groaning dyring slow decent.
For all the money you have tied up in that thing and the access you have to custom fabrication, I'm surprised you don't buy two small extra winches. Mount them under the hood, and drop them to the front axle. This was can you not only pull down, but you can also pull only one side, so when you are way off camber, you can just pull the high side down. With that much suspension travel, you need to be able to control your side to side body roll. Independent pull downs on either side would do wonders. Maybe even do it to the rear as well.
@@LiteBrite Oh Chris... But seriously, it would take some very creative thought. Two things - one, you only need a 3k - 4k lbs winch, so a pretty small device. Secondly you only need the fairlead over the axle. The winch can mount anywhere (even under your seat). You could even run it through a couple of fairleads or eyelets if you had to. Something to just keep in the back of your mind, at some point, you'll think of a way.
I’m horrible with doing nut and bolt checks and shakedown runs when I install new stuff. I haven’t done a nut and bolt check in months. I probably need to do that!
I have a friend that's having problems with the Eaton E-Lockers that he just added to his rig. The story he's getting: Eaton was having some problems... Interesting trip on the Rubicon with intermittent lockers. Crazy that Eaton is having issues; they've been making these things since time began?
I'll be honest here: Watched Sunday's video, knowing full well I got back from a hunting trip & watched the video on Sunday, not knowing what day it was...totally threw me off....I forget what day I'm on when I get back from trips. 🤣🤣 BTW, love your wheeling videos, breaking shit the way you guys do, reminds me when I go crawling with my RC crawlers, where I tend to break shit from time to time. Lol 😂 I swear you guys need a sticker on the back of your Jeep that says "I came here to break shit"! Lmao 😂🤣 Great video guys, ya'll are a joy to watch, as always!! 🤟🏻🤙🏼
Do an ox locker. This is a really good for y'all because it can be air or electric and if you decide to do air it is really easy to make it a permanent locker just check it out
It's Up Down, Up Down, LR, LR, AB, AB, Select, Start!!! Just fooling with you guys. Step Child is gittin it DuN !!! One day I'll get to check it out. Y'all ride safe folks
Tires grow in size when spinning. Prolly caused the shock reservoir cap loss and the decal peeling. Rear tires on a dragster the most obvious example on it. Also jeep tires grow when aired up or down.
Damn. Driving Line had 2 of these newer Eaton "Direct Acting" e-lockers break, and a few guys at KOH also had the same issue. I have one that I just installed to a 05 SD60 front to swap under my JT and it sounds like it may be a $1500 ticking time bomb. What really sucks is I bought mine over a year ago and only just now got around to installing it as I've been building these axles up for the swap. By the time it grenades, it will be brand new but already out of the 1-year-from-purchase warranty.
nice spotting Brit... nice driving Kevin.... have you guy placed cameras under jeep and a dash cam in the cab... so we can see what kevin can see when he climbs
I think Kevin just needs a rig not to care about. 22RE, 8” axles, detroits, and send it. 😂 In all seriousness, love the new stepchild build and hope you guys work out all the glitches. Would love to hit a trail with you guys sometime!
BRAKES!!! Hey guys! I love all of your content! Have you guys upgraded the master cylinder? If you have bigger calipers, you need a master cylinder that moves more fluid...
Long time follower, first post. My 2015 jeep (The Moneypit) is setup much like The Stepchild. I'm running UD60's and 40" Trail Grapplers, sitting under a full Metacloak 4.5" true long arm 4 link with the 6 pack shocks and a new Atlas. It's a nice riding rig but a bit of a dog with the stock powertrain. I have been very impressed with your last few videos and I was wondering where I can find a current full build of the Stepchild? Everything I've been able to find is outdated. Thank you in advance, much love from San Francisco, CA.
Maybe the sound was the loose sway bar skipping splines especially if it's loose after getting home it wouldn't have the clamping force like it did when tight allowing the splines to skip.
Long time watcher, first time commenting. While Kevin is an extremely skilled driver, I’m always floored as to the level of skill Brittany has at spotting. Arguably more important than the ability to pilot through obstacles like that. Hats off to that power couple. Keep em wheelin.

She puts in the work and climbs around too! Not just on top spotter lol.

Yeah she’s incredible at spotting
Brittany floors a lot of us
The trail, the driving, the spotting, the videography! Holy moly. Nice job.
Breathtaking rock crawling and awesome team effort. loving the variety in the videos. Keep up the good work
Love the stepchild before, and now it's a beast!! I don't trust many people but Brit I would trust with my life with her amazing spotting skills. It's not to often you meet a gal with so many skills. Keep the videos coming✌️💪
That suspension is absolutely INSANE.......What a machine....I CAN ONLY WISH

Never done rock crawling. But I'm impressed with how well the step child is doing. Kevin is an impressive driver
Man this Chick is an amazing spotter, and it amazes me she knows what she is talking about, new subscriber now
Very impressive. Between the two of you and Chris, Lite Brite is pushing the bar higher and higher. Thanks for sharing.

The Stepchild is one bada$$ Jeep! HEMI POWER!
I was impressed by some of the places that you were able to go.
I was so expecting another call to Matt lol. Glad you are getting it all worked out. Enjoying the content.
I have done a fair amount of wheeling over the last 50 years but you two are simply AMAZING!! Great teamwork!!!
Another awsome video.. I freaking love the stepchild.. I've been watching that jeep since you had stepchild 1.0 when you guys had the house in Colorado.. she's come along ways and just keeps getting more and more badass...
Wow, you guys managed to make 40's look small😮. Ol Stepchild is a BEAST!
Its all about doing the shake down. Time to get Chris back on it again. Happy Trails to you both.
Fairly amazing. As somebody who has never rock crawled, but has seen a lot of video of rock crawling, I saw you guys go thru some stuff, that honestly I would have thought was impossible to traverse in a vehicle. You guys made an amazing rig.
hell ya little mid week fun and i had no idea if i could love you guys anymore but Kevin is a gamer!! HAHAA
“She’s just a friend”
/Biz Markey has entered the chat 😂

Holy crap that thing is a monster. Pretty cool how it goes so slow just walks right up.
Guys you're really insane you're really amazing couple!

Enjoyed that a great deal. Should be amazing once shake down is done. Thanks for taking us along.
Soooooo close to becoming the ultimate! Just need to nudge a few things here and there and you've got it! Go after it!
I just took my 2017 Rubicon Recon out for its first shake down after putting in the AEV 2.5 xt lift in my 2 door! Thanks for the epic build and adventure shake down information!! Canadian Eh I love this channel !!❤
That trail looked gnarly and fun. Sucks something broke, but good y’all were able to drive home on it at least
Love the shakedown videos Step Child Rocks!
Kevin has balls of steel!! Awesome video and the stepchild is a bad mam-ah jam-ah! You need a plate that says "almost cheating"
You two are just great. The Step Child is a beast and as much as maybe you shouldnt be out there out there alone you can always make a call if necessary you arent far from home or help if needed.

A great video as always! Much love from Louisiana
Oh yeah, congrats on an awesome build!
Stepchild makes obstacles look easy. Enjoy that beast of a street machine.
thanks for sharing. cheers.
If there's a weak spot, Kevin will find it 😂 !! Great video guys ❤️❤️💯🤙
It’s good to see the stepchild back in action!
Great spotting and throttle control.... as usual.
All other JK, JL, JM, JN.... are jealous.
Some of those climbs look really steep on camera, must be insanity in real life. Awesome video.
Remembering what the stepchild started off as and seeing it now is just mind-blowing 🤯
crazy... awesome built
Living your best lives!
I know Kevin is gonna hate this idea but this rig almost needs a suck-down winch to maybe lessen that anti-squat. This thing might be the most capable full body Jeep on the UA-cams!
Might?
There’s zero room for that with full steering up front. You would have to go full hydro to fit that up front
So cool hope you find the problem, as always love seeing you all. Take care God bless .
Works awesome 😎 stoked to see it back on the trail !
Suck down for the front axle on those steep uphills
Unfortunately no room for a suck down unless we went full hydro
Let’s face it , the jeeps not breaking ! You all are going out of your way to break it ! Keep having fun !
Have you thought about powerstop pads and rotors? I installed them on my wrangler and so far they've performed flawlessly and breaking distance is half if not better than what it was. Also no groaning dyring slow decent.
Great video thank you!

Do an ox locker. This is a really good for y'all because it can be air or electric and if you decide to do air it is really easy to make it a permanent locker just check it out

You guys need to link up with the Aussie boys and show them how to do it! The @4wd 24-7 guys!
I’ll bet e locker. Broke mine, went to ARB and been problem free since
great job.
nice spotting Brit... nice driving Kevin.... have you guy placed cameras under jeep and a dash cam in the cab... so we can see what kevin can see when he climbs

It socks when some thing half ass breaks... either break or don't lol
..
Master Chris will nurse the Step Child back to health for sure.
I had exact same issue with my elocker. Internally the teeth skipped but it stayed locked.
Saw that ADS suspension adjuster knob cap fall at 4:45 It was run over.
@3.10, time for some next venture motorsport roof skid plates....? 😂
More Bri please!
Amazing jeep.
Another great shake down
good job see ya on the next one
BRAKES!!! Hey guys! I love all of your content! Have you guys upgraded the master cylinder? If you have bigger calipers, you need a master cylinder that moves more fluid...
Good people! Good area!
30 free guys in Contra. I see you Kevin
You need a set of handheld radios while you spotting, would make your life way easier.
Beast mode
Switch to ARB in front & runn 2 air compressors, one for each locker. As much as you wheel, having the redundancy would be great.
Take Tools with You!!
It was the e locker
Damn I’d be so proud of your wife, she’s excellent at spotting.
