I am a new viewer, did you swap in a V8 in your Gladiator? I am building mine up to do some of these trails. Love the video.
Saying "this video is f'ing epic" would still be an understatement; seeing Shaun slow crawl through an obstacle is also a nice change of scenery, not that I have anything against snow plowing :)
Thanks!
IMO the best cinematography I've ever seen of the Moab Rim Trail Shaun! This comment is from a Red Rock 4-Wheelers member that just completed his 27th Easter Jeep Safari and led this trail for a number of years as we live just over 2 hours from Moab. The lower Z-Turn has changed more over the years than any other place on the trail. There used to be a large boulder about halfway into the hole where Cara got tippy on the downhill at lower Z-Turn, and you HAD to take the line she was on. There was a lot of paint on that boulder but it kept many from rolling. Back in the day we were running flat fender Jeeps and CJ5's with 83" wheel bases and the crazy element had Detroit Lockers and couldn't run anything larger than 33" tires, because that was the biggest available! There always have been more rollovers going down hill than uphill probably because of the front engine weight bias of our rigs. The most rollers I've personally witnessed (3) have occurred at the pothole first appearing at the 10:44 mark of your video. They were all on the way out and the drivers simply didn't see the pothole and dropped the drivers front into it. As awesome as the Trail Destroyer is, your cinematography and presentation of this trail are even better! Keep up the great work Shaun and get those 250K subscribers.
Thank you so much for your comment and the stories. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Moab Rim is such a beautiful trail. I really enjoyed it. I can’t imagine how tricky the Z-turn must have been in a CJ5 on 33s. I’d love to watch that!
@@TheStoryTillNow I have photos of my 53' CJ3B on Moab Rim and wish there was a way to share on UA-cam comments. Your channel and Matt's are wonderful!
I used to run this trail quite often and I was always amazed at how the jeepers could ride this. The beginning is about a mile uphill and it is crazy steep with huge step ups and it's right on the edge. Beautiful trail and awesome video.
Dang Shawn you knocked it out the park documenting this trail. Looks like a 7/8 scale rating but 1 mistake can cost you serious consequences.
Was great meeting you in Moab @EJS, thanks for all you do. Can’t wait to see your next adventure and catch you around again soon.
16:50 It's interesting that the shorter wheelbase was actually a disadvantage in this situation, I can't decide between a Gladiator or Wrangler Unlimited but I'm leaning more on the Gladiator side.
Awesome video just subscribed.
Cara rocked it! 😂 Get it? 😅 Awesome video!
Awesome to meet you guys in Moab, was so excited to see Casey and You that I forgot how to speak proper english haha!. Ill come back next year for sure to EJS.
Beautiful drone and trail shots ! 👍👍
I love Moab. I've been there a few times and all the trails are amazing. I did the Lion's Back in 1989 before it was closed and it was a bit scarry at the top turning around in a lifted Chevy full size
Well done, very good video that was interesting and fun. The camera work was great and the time you took to show the Jeeps navigating the obstacles was just right. Liked that the spotters and leader gave encouragement and all the drivers did well and used momentum and easy throttle at the ledges. I did poison Spider this Easter and passed on the trail you featured for the reason you stated... scary.
What an amazing trail! Thanks for uploading all this content. The trail destroyer is on a different level. Congrats on that build. Thanks man!
Thanks for watching!
Love your channel!
Thanks' to you, I contacted GFC and just pulled the plug and ordered a new GFC camper. Build completion date of mid July this year, then delivered to Sacramento. So stoked!
Congrats!
EPIC opening drone shot!! Great vid
The scenery is awesome! Your jeeping is awesome!
I love this little series from Moab. It's one of my favorite places in the world, so much so that I'm looking at buying a place there with a shop. The door will always be open for future endeavors when it happens. Keep up the great work!
Let us know lol. I was there and my front locker would not disingage. Everyone was busy except Northridge 4x4 in Salt Lake City. If you lived there, at least you would have time.
Look at Shaun - taking it like a pro!
I love that topper on your gladiator! Love your setup. Excellent video and awesome trail
Thanks! 👍
Same here! When I saw that shell I said to myself, "I need one of those"! Reached out to GFC and even though I have an older model truck they made a shell specifically for it. As an FYI, I also made inquiries to several other companies who make a similar product and got a "Sorry, can't help you" response.
Damn Shaun, you built yourself one hell of a rig. This was one of the best videos to show off the Trail Destroyer! Hope to see you again at Overland Expo West!
Thanks for the adventures and inspiration to get out and explore 👍🏼
the nasty mile. i messed up bad when i did that trail. i was lucky and came out okay, thank goodness! i popped a big wheelie at the top of the Z turn when my foot slipped off the clutch. it was all my fault... so so lucky but it scared me so bad. when we were going up the dome, my t case snapped into neutral and my shifter broke. my brain snapped too. we got it back into 4 low and finished out the week unscathed. the next week, i was home stripping the transmission out of that TJ and swapping in a 4 speed auto and clayton hard arm kit. moab will reveal every weakness in your jeep. i have been there over 15 times and it never gets old!
Ah… not for me! 😮Beautiful scenery! You have nerves of steel! Good job!
Fantastic!!! Love seeing this area. Hope to get out there sometime, then hit BC Canada lol. We'll done!
Excellent video and some sketchy moments. Keep up the amazing work Shaun. 👍👍
Good job guys. How fun and how cool. You top 3 UA-camrs. ( What I consider the top 3 ). Lol... Yourself, Matt and Brad, all play the right type of back ground music in your vidoes too, which makes them much more pleasant to watch vs some others out there!
Great video! Good job Cara!! And, all!
Thanks!!!
Awesome cinematography!
this is the highest quality videography in the jeep world. Excellent job, excellent music, and great people!
Thank you!
Can’t wait to see Ozark visit TSTN ….Maple syrup edition 😊… put it on the books!
It's gonna happen!!!
Shaun you once again failed to deliver a boring video. Always enjoy getting to see your videos. Be safe and have fun.
I was in St. George on this day, loved the nice weather after living in Northern Utah and getting pounded all winter with a record amount of snow. Looks like you had fun. glad you love you Utah , its awesome here.
Another great Moab video. Love your channel. 🤘🏼
Done with tha art of overlanding,That's Crazy!
If you like staring at cliffs while making a crazy downhill/90's head about an hour+ over to Telluride, CO and run Ophir to the other side of black bear pass heading back into Telluride. ~12k ft up and overlooking Telluride, and maybe your impending doom, it is fun! If you want beauty, head to Ouray, CO, and run Yankee Boy Basin into Imogene Pass and back into Telluride. Although I ran those last year in mid-July and Imogene had just opened. Great video man!
Another great trail video, thanks for sharing!
Great job gang. This is one of my favorite trails in Moab.
I also meant to mention that this is one of the best video depictions of the this trail I have seen!
Thanks!
great video and really showing off the capablilty of your gladiator and driving skills.
The WooHoo from the test drive at the end got me. Epic stuff. Thank you, Sir.
Awesome video. Pretty cool to see the difference between the wheel bases. Also love the videos from matt
Thanks 👍
Thanks For The Ride !! 👍
nice work! I'm sure slopes are much more steeper than it looks.
I was in Moab too. I had a brand new Tacoma so Fins & Things was the only kind of trails I was willing to attempt with my mostly stock truck. Next year I want to bring my Land Cruiser, I have some mods to do before it will be ready. I don't think I am going on that trail though, looks too crazy for my taste.
Shaun, its everytime a plaesure to see those awesome machines in this beautiful places. Its also everytime astonishing which crawl abilities this cars have. Love it! And the sound of your Gladdy is great! 😉 👍👍👍 Greetings from Germany 😉
CONGRATS on 200K Subs Shaun.. MOAB is always a fun place. One day before I die, I'll go back.
Moab Rim is one of the best trails in Moab! Severely under rated. Probably my favorite trail in the area.
Wow. Awesome 😮❤
Thanks Shaun for video…it was fun wheeling with you and the trail destroyer!
Any time!
Awesome video! That place is amazing. I love the rock formations. Views are so spectacular. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun.👍👍
Thanks! It was a great run!
We love Utah as well ❤ we used to ride our dirt bikes back in the day in the dunes, Bryce Canyon and around Moab.
Just did this in my 2 door jk on 39’s. I’ve never needed 18 more inches in my life. Good times guys!
Not what she said.
True!
I really set myself up for that one.
Hard to beat Moab. Enjoyed your adventure
Another awesome video, Shaun. Love seeing you come South to tear up some of the trails out here!
Thanks 👍
Shaun
Awesome Video work
Moab is So Incredibly Beautiful and Challenging .
The Trail Destroyer Did Fabulous as Usual
You and Your Friends Did Great..
Nice one 🤙🕶
I think I saw your crew on Hwy 54 in corona New Mexico a few weeks back…awesome gladiator! I have a punkn orange gladiator.
Keep up the great work
Fantastic Shawn, can you share the route ?
Your Toyo tire & wheel combination looked amazing going up the S turn.
Shaun, great video. Do you leave your drone in the air most of the time to maximize its' use? You use a lot of drone footage and seem to have mastered operating your rig and drone simultaneously. I'd like to see a behind the scenes video where you share how you produce your videos.
I don't know that just doesn't look fun at all . I like the roads you take up in Canada with the obstacles you rub into on the way then the camping next to a lake with a fire .
Love to see you rip that V-8 in the dunes and catch some air. Seems like the trailwrecker is unstoppable
Damn….I hope it warms up, I’m doing a desert run, Alvord, Black Rock, Death Valley, The long way to Moab! I leave in 2 weeks…🏜️
Great vid Shaun 👍🐴🐴🥌🤘
Sounds like an awesome trip! It’s hot today in Moab 30C
That’s what I wanted to hear@@TheStoryTillNow! Slick🥌on!
Holy moly off camber! Fun to be had, but scary.
I really love all this off-road stuff I hoped one day get my gladiator and get to do all that btw new subscriber right here.
Welcome aboard!
I did Moab Rim last year during EJS. I didn't know how hard it was. Afterwards I promised myself I would never ever do it again. Imagine that, Devil's Crack swallowing your front axle, 50 feet from a 1000 foot drop. Not to mention that after I completed it someone told me two people died falling off the cliff recently. #gulp
This videos deserves a million views
Who doesn't Like Moab Rim, its a beautiful trail
The story till now and ozark adventures man talk about worlds colliding!
We have so much fun together!!
Nice video, thank you.
The rack you had coule years ago looks better on Gladiator, but i'm sure this box is more practical ... Also maybe you can wander someday closer to hurricane and meet awesome people from Matt's Off Road Recovery
Looks great guys
Great video, but I would have loved to see the view from inside the Jeeps going down.
The Ozarks are very similar to Canada? lol
😂
Damn Shaun check out that flex!!! @ 3:30
Shawn, another great video! What kind of fenders are you running on your green machine?
Metalcloak 👍🏻
@@TheStoryTillNow Looks like you get great wheel articulation on the rock with them, the tires have lots of room to move.
Are the Dana axles wider than factory? If so, how much and what are the wheel specs?
Awesome video Would be so cool to hang out with everyone great bunch of people much respect to all 👍
What music is playing at the 4:00 mark?
👍Very nice!!!. How many times did you say "I love Utah" for de video😂
One take! 😂
All these machines are crazy, but Shaun’s looks like his is on a completely different level. 😂
That lady in the Pink Jeep deserves an award for that 3-wheel off camber drop. I would have crapped my pants!
Man that is an impressive Jeep and a terrifying bloop! 😅
What drone are you using? Just wow!
The really cool thing about slickrock is that it's not really slick!. More like driving on medium grit sandpaper. Now if that was glacier polished granite... hahaha!
It was slick for the shoed horses, and named accordingly (as the story goes)
Nice
Finally UA-cam isn’t doing you dirty. This is the first video in like a month that I got to watch in anything other than potato quality.
Can’t wait to run Moab Rim again
So I ended up buying myself a 2023 gladiator rubicon today lol. You're damn cinematic shots did more for Jeep then stellantis ever will lol. 9k off with discounts and rebates plus Virginia disabled vets don't pay taxes. Maaaaaaaan I'm in love!!! Gotta get some tires and wheels
Congrats!!
@@TheStoryTillNow thanks man. I'm so pumped for this new chapter of my life!!! I can't wait to get out there!!
What kind of comms system do you run? I am looking into GMRS radios over CB for my team.
Thanks for all the content. Wish I could have met you at EJSW!
We use HAM in Canada mostly.
Not an overly difficult trail but definitely one to respect. A few years ago someone went off the cliff and died. I dont remember all the details of the incident but it wasnt his first time on the trail.
Does anybody know which song is playing from 13:28
That was wild.
Your footage is epic as always.. I want to be as good as you when I grow up 🤣😂
Awesome epik beautiful treil
Are those solar panels on your rooftop tent? If not can they be put on?
They are
@@TheStoryTillNow awesome!
Love your videos, man. Hope to one day be able to do something similar.
After watching this video, I'm returning my Bronco tomorrow! Dammmm
nice trip
Where do you get the names for these obstacles? I’ve been wheeling in Moab for almost 30yrs and never heard that called the devils crack.
Only rated a 7…😱 WOW!!! No thank you. 🙏🙏
Do you think a 2021 JLU 80th with LSD rear with 2.5" lift running 295/70-18s could run this trail or would you need 37+s and lockers?
I would not attempt it with that configuration, personally.
@@TheStoryTillNow Thanks......I knew it was iffy. How is the pink Jeep in the video set up?
I have run it on 33s carbuated limited slips. Just have a good spotter and take it easy.
Have run this 4-5 times, !st ran this trail in '92, stock '70 CJ5, w/carb , lockers F&R, V-6 & 30"er's. Didn't have any problems, pick your lines for what you're driving. Surprised they didn't play at the sand hill rising out of the ravine @ 14:00 mark I would want t he lockers on all these trails.
@@stmbtsodapop2513 Yes , I ran it about that time, 67 cj5 v6 sm465 4.88 rear ls 33" moab edition bfg muds( the first run of special rock crawl compound tires, dot legal).
