Kirk probably has some of the most consistently great solos between 1983-1991. I think they're sort of overlooked in the general Metallica discussion, but he really has an immense catalogue of very good solos.
He has some great ones on Load and Reload too. "Bleeding Me," "King Nothing," and "Devil's Dance" are some of his best. Also "Until it Sleeps" maybe simple, but it's such a perfect fit for the song.
He's so good at Pentatonic that they don't seem to sound the same on those songs. If you look at the pattern, they're all the same but each of those solos were beautifully unique!
Kirk's solo for Unforgiven 1 is still, by far, my favorite solo of all time. I mainly started playing guitar because of Papa Het and love playing rhythm....but that solo is one of the few that I would actually wish that I had the ability to play.
@@peterstefan6900 oh I had plenty of practice time over the few decades since it came out. But I also know my limitations.....my fingers won't ever go fast. Thankfully, I love doing my best Papa Het renditions. :)

A lot of Metallica’s song have given me the shivers because of the way they sound so personal. Blackened, Sad But True, Fade to Black, One, and For Whom the Bell Tolls are some of the ones that make me feel like I have a personal connection because I’ve felt the way that Sad but True and Fade to Black are written. They’re also some extremely inspirational songs to me and have made me dedicated to save up buy an electric guitar and practice their songs (and other bands songs) because of just how cool it is.
Dude the fact is that aside from kill em all most of the lead parts and solos for Metallica's early catalog were written by Dave when him and James would jam together then cliff would write in his own parts latter which is who is credited with alot of the bands early work because of that so when Dave left the band still had the rythm and bass parts of who knows how many songs Dave James and cliff wrote together Kirk ain't ever wrote shit in his life what was his Solo project called again. blackened is one of my favorite all around guitar performances of any song I've ever heard. I fell in love with it ironically back in like 2009 when I was playing it on Rock Band, where it was super difficult. Now I have a real guitar and its even more difficult than it was in that game
Missing the solo from 'Disposable Heroes', which should at least be in the top 5. Nice to see 'The Struggle Within' get a mention though. Underrated solo.
Kirk created iconic solos🎼🎵🎶, but on the Ride The⚡ record... he created incredible solos, Crepping Death. Ride The, Fade To Black... for me, the record that most expresses his 🎸guitar style.
Awesome compilation and playing! @10:13 Struggle Within was deffo a stand out solo for me from the Black Album, and all these solos are such a stark contrast to his now current day double-stop 12th fret phasing, smothered by a wah-wah, with the mid-solo pauses and weird noises... kinda sad (but true). Great video!
The transitions, tone of guitar, backing tracks, detailed tabs (even harmonies)... this video earns huge like. Also you got me at fade to black live version part.
"The Unforgiven" - Hammett's solo in this Metallica ballad is melodic and soulful, displaying his ability to create memorable guitar lines with emotional impact. "Battery" - Hammett's solo in "Battery" is filled with rapid-fire shredding and demonstrates his ability to seamlessly blend speed and precision. "Seek & Destroy" - Hammett's solo in Metallica's classic track "Seek & Destroy" is a high-energy display of his shredding skills, featuring fast-paced licks and fiery bends.
