About Justin Scott Patefield of "Scott's Hot Rods"
He and his young team of hip builders are complete and entertaining throwbacks to the "old school" ways of building cars. There isn't much in the way of computer-aided drawing, modern-day technical preplanning or years of model building before they begin a car - they simply drag a rusty heap into their 20,000-square-foot garage and rip into the thing.
These guys are really talented at metalwork, and that chassis wow!

What a good job. They would have to have an extendable wheeled gantry like the ones they have in the ports to move yachts. to assemble the bodies
Love the build hate the paint you should paint it Chevy fast orange. That beautiful build needs to stand out. Seems these boys have pist off a lot of truck guys and gals come on it is a cool roadster you can drive to parts store or the lumber yard.

I fully agree! If they were going to all but rebuild everything WHY did they take a beautiful classic and bastardize it like that? What they "created" would look better in a crusher!

exactly. they spit in the original designer of that 56 chevy pickups face. they ruined it. especially when the cut off the foward looking browed headlight housings. they fucked up the windshield, they ruined the bed, aw what am i talkin about, they fucked up the whole truck, and they wasted alot of money to do it!

The one thing I like about this project, is that they have a decent time frame to work with, unlike another show that does em in 7 days, yea, right. You cant build and paint something to show condition in that kind of time. As far as the truck goes, chopping it would have been a lot better than loosing the roof, it just don't look right. But, to each his own.

Started going downhill when they decided to go convertible. Then they messed the bed all up. Then mini cooper headlights! SMH
Love the truck, but would have done the center console different, and put black leather on the dash, maybe delete that third brake light. Otherwise I love it even the headlights.
So; did they ever actually finish this?
where is the top of this new car,what about the front side lights???
I am probably not old enough to have an opinion but I like the old/rustic look of the truck.....can't they just give it a good engine and frame and leave the old exterior? I would love to drive something like that.....

just fyi black doesnt hide anything, it shows every imperfection. light colors hide defects easily

08:42 Be careful what you decide is your "real" voice... A lot of guys settle in on a nasal pinched Kermit voice, this guy has gone full blown falsetto. Historical. I am a voice actor. I can throw around to most any tone. I'm not bragging (ok maybe just a little) but he does not use his true voice. His true voice is down in the "fake" one he "puts on". I am fascinated with this guy.
I am not a trained in anything other than cartoon and commercial work , but, in my opinion, to find your true voice: Walk around saying "Um Hmm" to yourself relaxing and dropping the pitch and seeing how low you can comfortably get. Like constantly. In the car etc. The more the better.
After at least a couple of hours of "Um Hmm" follow up with a "Yes". "Um Hmm" "Um Hmm" "Um Hmm" "Yes..."
After time you will see that the lower register is where you you should be could be and you should end up with a richer warmer (sexier) voice.
PLEASE feedback if it works this is just experiential and seat of the pants but my gut says share it.
Justin took steroids in his younger years to deal with seizures. The side effects are either hair loss or what you hear in his voice. I knew him for a while.
@@tekiwi He can do the deeper version is he chooses to. I just find it compelling that he has settled for the falsetto.
p.s I am bald and bald equals testosterone so yeah baby. Thank you for the additional information. I would love to talk with him if you can arrange it. Again, Voice Actor and linguistic hobbyist...Radio Control and General Car Guy...

Do these guys know what ear plugs and safety equipment are? They say it's too noisy and they guy went to hospital 4 times in a week for using that cutting tool. Great cars guys but maybe some safety gear would help
They should have lowered the roof not entirely remove it. It's no longer a truck

The 1956 Chevy shop truck looks out of proportion. First is making a roadster out of it. The radical cutting of the roof and the custom made bed just does not look right with the untouched mid section of the cab. Which should have been sectioned to be more like the rest of the truck. Mercedes headlights are noething new and the hand made console and Corvette inspired dash is ridiculous. Very nice work on the frame but the body fell way short of the quality of the frame. Flat black with tan seats? Not saying that it is no good would be wrong. Each his own. But definitely knit my cup of tea.
I was checking the comments to see if anybody felt like I did - obviously they do - worst botch up job that I've ever seen! -- What were you thinking man? Why didn't you do any planning whatsoever? You took a historic distinctive looking truck and turned it into something garbage. If you guys did nothing on the body - you'll be a thousand percent better off!!!

It's just stupid. Isn't the point of a shop truck is that you use it to go get stuff? They took off the roof. Guess we can't get that part we need. Also, Mercedes exterior stuff + Hot rod = stupid.

Nice craftsmanship, but the finished product is an abomination. You don't hack the roof off of a truck like this.
My opinion the end result is hideous. What a waste of real steel.Quite honestly if this were made from parts I still wouldn't like the end result but it wouldn't have destroyed a vehicle that is dwindling in numbers 10 fold as every year goes by.

Way to go....slag off on an entire country because 1 person, who didn't actually call any of the design shots, happens to maybe come from Australia....the rest of the crew were American so what do you make of that? I agree that the truck does not look good by the end of it, but the Aussie wasn't the one calling the shots. What have you got against Australians anyway?

I mean...the guy is an actor...still...the narration REALLY sucks! Needless to comment on the truck...it just makes you appreciate a lot more what West coast customs do...

I had to stop watching the voice of the presenter was to annoying.
Managed to get through ten minutes, Jason Priestly sucks as a narrator, too irritating to listen to, why the hell is he talking so slow?
