    I have turned several pair. I use white oak for salt and walnut for pepper

      I forgot to mention that I use a 35 mm bit to make the counterpart for the rubber plug. It's simple and almost foolproof

      Also I change jaws on my chuck and chuck on the i.d. instead of a jab chuck

    I courious about the cleaning aspect. I’m sure it just gets wiped off with a damp rag. My question is the inside cleaning. It’s not sealed in any way. How would you keep moisture from getting into the wood and does it need to be sealed with a food safe material

      The inside almost never needs to be cleaned, but you could seal the inside with a food safe mineral oil before use.
