I considered Ken Venturi the 'voice of golf'. His knowledge and love for the game was second to none. Thanks Ken for your work on the golf course and in the 18th tower for CBS. You will be missed.
I do not think Mr. Ken Venturi ever fully realized just how much he meant to the Game of Golf. His lessons during the broadcast were what kept me going in the game even to this day. A joy to watch and a even bigger joy to listen to. Thanks for the Memories.
I remember some time watching a player walk up 18 at Agusta to play out and win the the Masters. Mr. Venturi was describing the cheers and applause and how that golfer will never forget those cheers and applause. All of a sudden his voice started to break and trail off. Then there was silence. Mr. Venturi was weeping for the player and remembering his own experience in that situation.

One of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting .As the starter at Lahinch Golf Club Ireland for 22 years were Ken was a member he played Lahinch all most every year with his friend Pat and it was always one of the high lights of my job in seeing Ken.
(R.I.P ken)

As a native San Franciscan, like Ken, he is missed both at home and abroad. It has not been the same since his passing, on broadcasts, without his voice - the best golf commentator of all time. (btw - my father took me to Lahinch when I was 16 (1976) and bought me my first pair of golf shoes). 😉
What a story buddy so admire this ....I can only imagine how excited and privileged you must of felt .....what a true gentleman and legend of a man. ....I'm a massive Mr Hogan fan and obviously Mr V was one of his students say so I just love watching listening to him talk about the times he has with Mr Hogan but I also love watching his videos period tbh don't think I've ever heard anyone ever say anything negative about this man ...which just goes to show how regarded he was throughout especially with nowadays all the Internet availability where people can state whatever they like at times about people .....
@@leesale5083 thank you for your kind reply. I am very pleased to have seen so many positive things said about Ken Venturi. Also Ben Hogan. Thanks again!
@@illadrobici Your welcome buddy
Awesome tribute to an awesome man..
thank you for your contributions mr venturi
I will always remember him and that famous line "hit it you had it" he probablly would say "hit it alice!" If he was 🎤 the LPGA
Well done Jim Nantz....a fitting tribute to a man who means more to the game of golf than most will ever know. An even finer tribute would be for CBS to push for "The Match" to be made into a movie. It would be the greatest golf movie of all time.
Today would have been Ken Venturi's 86th Birthday. R.I.P. We miss you Ken Venturi ❤
Loved his short, compact backswing.
R.I.P to Mr. Venturi will be missed by many.
R.I.P Mr Venturi.
R.I.P
It's so sad the Ken Venturi would have been 85.❤
Ken Venturi would've been 87 yesterday
