- On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, Ken Venturi was selected for induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame. In celebration of this great achievement, we take a look at his greatest one on the golf course, his win at the 1964 U.S. Open, when he withstood the heat at Congressional Country Club to win "Golf's Toughest Test."

Why Hollywood has not made a movie of this is beyond me. What a story.
I was there, my first tournament. Ken had a 20 ft putt on first hole and hung on the lip----as he walked slowly to ball it dropped and I followed him all 36 holes. Decades later I approached Ken when he was captain of the President's CUP team and whipped out the '64 ticket stub for him to sign-----he was quite emotional and talked to me for 10 minutes------a great day!
You can see he's out on his feet - titanic reserves of strength. No ordinary mortal 'Kenny.'
I miss hearing Ken call a broadcast.
I watched his final round on TV. Had seen him play in person twice. What a remarkable win!
Just read about this today in "The Match" By Mark Frost. Could make a great inspirational movie about this mans life. Thanks for posting this Vid. Our world needs more of this and less "Deadpool"
Why golf is so special. Everyone should play it.
