I was born in 1970 and took up golf in 1986 after Jack won the Masters as I learned and loved the game I wanted to learn the history of one of the few sports where old timers could compete today with the same equipment. As I learned about the greats I really grew and respected Mr Palmer and loved his book A Golfers Life which I have read several times he truly became to me a person I feel we should all emulate he was such a great man...RIP you are missed.

I am crying here. I'm only 41 and even I love Arnold Palmer. How could you not. I say we all go and have an Arnold Palmer and toast to the man who helped make golf an everyman's sport and popular for everybody. Next year's Arnold Palmer Invitational will not be the same.

We're crying in our house as well.. Mr. Palmer was my husbands hero since 1960 and a real reason why his presence in the game was the spark and motivation to learn and excel at golf. But as the video says, he was much larger than the game.. and thought of often and never forgotten..to follow his lead as a person wouldn't be a wrong choice in leading ones life.

I am honored to have being able to say that this man was my role model growing up. He truly was the perfect example as to why golf is considered a gentleman's game. He truly showed that on and off the course. Rest in Peace to the greatest.

Somehow a part of golf we've known, left when he did. I think it had a lot to do with his presence on and off the course. His standards of how to conduct yourself as a gentleman was above board. He was a class act. But I'm afraid to see what another generation of golfers are going to look like and dress like in the future without him around to keep the graces of the past alive. I hope the PGA keeps a reign on the respect for golf that he showed.

Even if you've never played golf, just the mention of his name makes you think of the game. I remember watching Mr. Palmer over the years. Especially TV in the 1960's. He's even referenced in the 1964 James Bond movie "Goldfinger", during the famous golf game in that film.
He seemed the kind of guy who could sit down with anybody. And not having known the person before, immediately strike-up a friendship. He seemed the nicest man with such a calm and effusive demeanor. A true "everyman", so different from other sports superstars today.

If I ever get to mad at the world I always watch some of the Arnie clips and it the anger not only goes away but is replaced with a sense of doing good for others. I did get to see Arnie play and I realize now how lucky I was. Arnie is not only an example of how athlete's should act but how we all should act. The world was a better place thanks to individuals like Arnie.

[Golf]is deceptively simple, endlessly complicated. A child can play it well, and a grown man can never master it. Any single round of it is full of unexpected triumphs and perfect shots that end in disaster. It is almost a science, yet it is a puzzle without an answer. It is gratifying and tantalizing, precise and unpredictable. It requires complete concentration and total relaxation. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time, rewarding and maddening. _And it is without doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented._
