My theory is May's mother had a psychological condition and then passed her condition to May genetically. Her mother said she made the doll herself when she was a kid. And then May at the end did the same thing, she created her own doll by herself. Or maybe May has the condition and translated her mother's words like that.
This was such a great movie. I remember watching this when i was younger and loved the dark comedy humor. This was so creepy and fun. Glad to see you talk about this hidden gem. Tubi rules btw.
Has been one of my favorite horror films for years.i wish more people have seen it.Angela Bettis is incredible in it. It is dark and awkward and incredibly uncomfortable . So worth the watch.
May (2002) is one of the most greatest psychological horror movies of all time. It really identifies and analyzes the boundaries of loneliness, isolation, social acceptance, depression, desperation, abandonment, and hopelessness which absolutely and positivity established the personality of May Dove Canady. Angela Bettis did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying May Dove Canady as she put tons of emotion and depth into her role as she displayed those elements and themes. To this day the ending still gives me chills and goosebumps 😰😱 and it was decent and I still watch it. May (2002) is a true blue modern gem in horror cinema. Lucky Mckee directed a classic that will be in our hearts forever. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍
SUCH a goddamn underrated movie. Angela Bettis CRUSHES that performance. Also, check out the 2006 film Lucky McKee also wrote, “Roman”, which Angela Bettis directed. He stars in it and it’s kind of an inverse “May”.
@@WeWatchedAMovie You’re very welcome! IIRC, it’s an ok watch but it’s not as compelling as “May”. Plus it was shot quickly on DV, if memory serves, so it has a really smudgy visual palette.
This movie Scary Movie 1 and 2 were the only movies Anna wasn't a blonde, because she dyed her hair to look like Neve Campbell and this was filmed between the two movies. Toolbox Murders was another weird movie starring Angela Bettis and Sherri Moon Zombie.
I remember getting this from blockbuster when I was a kid. My Aunty and Uncle let me pick it out and I can’t remember a tonne about it specifically but I remember how weird it was 🤣
Saw this movie yesterday. Really messed with me. Haven’t seen something this compelling or disturbing, it’s a shame there’s not a whole lot of coverage for it on UA-cam. Great video though!
Strange movie. Just when you start feeling bad for her... Then it goes completely off the rails. Would have been better if the ending was all in her head.
I loved this movie so much back when I first watched it, the director also made the short film Sick girl for the masters of horror series which also starred Angela Bettis, one of the stronger entries in that series.
I absolutely love this movie, and Angela's performance has a lot to do with it. Throughout the film I felt sorry for the poor girl, I felt freaked out by her a couple of times, she made me laught and she made me fell super uncomfortable (in a way, where I wanted to hide under my bed just to avoid seeing what she's doing :) ). Brilliant perfomance! Kinda reminded me of AnnaLynne McCord's performance in ''Excision'', where I went through a similar set of emotions and also Kika's in ''The eyes of my mother'', tho that one is a whole new, different level of uncomfortable and unsettling.
Great review Mike. Going to check this out for sure. I’m surprised I’ve never seen this. I thought I’ve seen all the crazy late 90’s early 00’s cringy horror films. They are bad but I love them. Going to force the wife to watch with me.
I wad 6 years old (watched in 2003) when i saw this and it made me sad. Not just because of how she felt but i felt bad for the people she killed too. Especially the damn cat.
This is seriously one of my favorite movies! It’s so crazy to think how old it is now, I saw it for the first time when I was 16…. I think it had just released, we rented it from blockbuster lol
May is a good movie. It's extremely weird, that's for sure , lol. But that's what makes it's so unique and not your average cookie cutter horror movie. I felt sorry for the character May, Angela played her very well.
I haven't seen it yet, so I will not watch the review for now. But based on a IMDB description it reminded me of another dark quriky drama that somewhat leans into horror/slasher that I've checked recently - Office Killer from 1997. It's not the best movie I've seen but I would recommend it to you, it's interesting
I did like this movie, but I feel like it picked up so slowly, which sometimes I find to be effective in horror movies. But I feel like a lot of the scenes were too drawn out. Especially because of how awkward it is. I understand that's the point, but I just found myself thinking how much longer can this go on before she starts her murder spree? Lol
FINALLY someone I enjoy reviewed this film 🎥 ❤ Doesn't get enough credit, right at the start of the indie gritty horror. Check out Maniac with Elijah Woods
This movie is almost joker before there was joker. But seriously this movie is screwed up. I actually fast forwarded, because the interactions was soooo uncomfortable.
The eyeball rolling off fucking killed me 😂😂😂😂 but I felt so bad for May

This film blew me away one of the best horror films ive seen in ages I felt for her so much somehow still felt sorry for her even in the end

Thank you! And fuck yeah tubi is great

Anna Faris seemed like she was in the wrong film like she was still in comedic acting mode imo
1000%! I love her but it was just so weird and off
This movie Scary Movie 1 and 2 were the only movies Anna wasn't a blonde, because she dyed her hair to look like Neve Campbell and this was filmed between the two movies. Toolbox Murders was another weird movie starring Angela Bettis and Sherri Moon Zombie.
Love that Movie. Angela Bettis needs to do more Movies again for sure.
She was great!
Tubi always make me wonder why I even pay for most streaming.
I only hate how the ads get more frequent towards the end lol. They know they have you.
The woman who played may also in the toolbox murders. She did well in that as well.
Power Mann 5000.. lol!! Great reference…. “ARE U READY TO GO YES IM READY TO GO!!!!! ❤❤😂
haha what a great album
I remember getting this from blockbuster when I was a kid. My Aunty and Uncle let me pick it out and I can’t remember a tonne about it specifically but I remember how weird it was 🤣
So weird how our brains connect to little moments like that!
This needs a good Blu-ray release. 4K would be nice.
Saw this movie yesterday. Really messed with me. Haven’t seen something this compelling or disturbing, it’s a shame there’s not a whole lot of coverage for it on UA-cam. Great video though!
One of my favorite movies of all time. It grew on me as i've rewatched it over the years.
I need to watch this again as an adult
I haven't seen this movie in YEARS I just remember her creation coming to life in the end when she gives it her eye a very disturbing movie.
It's effin wild!
@@WeWatchedAMovie It sure was one of the most disturbing movies I've seen.
The eye rolling off shortly after she placed it was a rly nice touch
That Clueless reference!!!! I’m subscribing!
One of my favorites! I'm a sucker for "weird girl gets revenge" type of movies. Awesome soundtrack too.
True!
Strange movie. Just when you start feeling bad for her... Then it goes completely off the rails. Would have been better if the ending was all in her head.
I was creepily obsessed with this movie when it came out
I loved this movie so much back when I first watched it, the director also made the short film Sick girl for the masters of horror series which also starred Angela Bettis, one of the stronger entries in that series.
Totally has those Masters of Horror/After dark film vibes too so that makes sense
Loved this movie when i saw it back in 2002, got to love an early 2000 horror like this!
I need to see this!! Ayyyy kudos on the hat!! Go Pack Go!!!
Hells yes!
Love this one! Jeremy Sisto was in so much cool shit in the early aughts
He seriously was!
Such a strange and beautiful and sick movie. 😁🎥😎🤩💖👽❣️ Thanks for the review 😃
Great review Mike. I think this is a fantastic horror film and Angela Bettis gives an excellent performance.
Thank you amigo!
I’m not a fan of the summer months

It just now came to my mind that this movie and Pearl are almost the same. O.O sort of.
Oh shit that's a great point
@@WeWatchedAMovie Thanks!! 👍
I really find this film very sad 😢

I absolutely love this weird little movie
Samesies!
10/21/23: Loved it. Funky, nuts, all over the place and consistent. Loved the ending. Great acting.
I remember renting this one. I just watched Tamara from 2005. Do you remember it?
I think the actress from from here in KY maybe but I never saw it!
@@WeWatchedAMovie It was written by Jeffrey Reddick who is from KY. Not sure about Jenna Dewan, she used to be married to Channing Tatum.
I like it was she takes the parts to make her friend
I remember randomly watching this late one night when I was a kid. The ending was weird af but it stuck with me for years
This is totally the kind of movie you just randomly watch late one night and it fucks w you lol
@@WeWatchedAMovie lol definitely
i’ve never even heard of this movie but it sounds like a fever dream
It's definitely worth checking out!
Good idea for a video I think would be ranking all scream 3rd acts what do you think???
I plan to at some point for sure
Please share full movie link ...iam unable find in OTT platform
It also has a hell of a great soundtrack.
Thoughts on Jenna doing beetlejuice?
This film is one weird scene after another, I wanted to look away but I couldn't
1000% true about this movie lol
When she sees the large mole on Anna's finger lol
This was a hilarious review. Glad I found this channel.
I absolutely love this movie in spite of all of its weirdness! Angela Bettis did a fabulous job of making everyone watching feel as awkward as she is.
Me too!

Really good horror movie! Definitely the second most bizarre horror movie that I have seen!
If you love a good revenge thriller, you should check out The Seasoning House.
10 out of 10 for me i was 22 23 when it came out
She's well fit LOL
I’ve seen this movie during my sleepover omg it was the weirdest F-ed up film but somehow I can relate.. I’ve always been the oddball of the family..
yup, wicked movie haha how about MAY 2 ?
May is amazing loved this film
This became my favorite movie when I watched it as a preteen 🥹

Biting satire, eh?
Saw this when I was a kid well below the age of 10.. watched it again recently and now I remember why I’m attracted to men’s hands 😂
Crazy movie 🍿 I liked it
I hate this film
I admit it, this is one of my favorite movies because of how screwed up it is. Angela Bertie is amazing
MAY, my kind of girl. ❤
Check Angela Bettis in her version of Carrie she is great in that one too.
