- Thanks for watching Jacks 'CLASSIC SERIES" filmed June 6, 2009 on the WNY&P in northern Pennsylvania.
We are on the ex-Conrail Buffalo line. We chase a set of six axle Alco's southbound on the Driftwood Turn, on the Western New York and Pennsylvania. Todays power is the 631, (which as of today, 1/05/2024) is in the process of being scraped, and the 637. The first clip is a Turtle Point, PA. We then catch the DFT at Port Allegheny set out and picking up cars. The old Alco's sure sound good as they make their switching moves. Then the chase begins with some track speed pacing. We then get him at the top of the grade at Keating summit. The grade to Keating is the steepest grade on any Conrail line. The 631-637 are in dynamic braking at the bottom of the grade at mp113. We do some more pacing at Sizerville, and then past the signal at Camron. We finish up with a final clip at Sterling Run PA. before we pack it for the day.
Please be sure to check out my many other video clips from the 1970's up to today. God Bless.

Outstanding.
Excellent video ! I love those Alco/MLW units. The ex CP M630 #631 is a real beauty. Still looks and sounds great. 😏👍
Nothing makes me happier in Railroading than watching Alco/MLW power and freights Jack !! The WNY&P, Delaware Lackawanna and the L,A&L all great especially the D-L !! 👍
No doubt about it ronnief.
The smoke show.
Love those Big Alcos since they are so rare. Thanks!
Getting rarer all the time. Thanks for watching.
Many thanks from someone who grew up alongside a line run with Alcos.
Sure thing jamest. Glad you enjoyed it.
ALCOs, position lights, jointed rail- all that's missing is a CABOOSE.
That would have been the icing on the cake leeh. Thanks for watching.

Keep up the good work.
Those 251 prime movers just sounded so much healthier than anything GE used- even the FDL-16 sounded like it had an exhaust restriction by comparison.
To me, the only prime mover that sounded better was a Roots- blown 567 series (IMO the best sounding one EMD ever made).
Great train chase. You've been very blessed to have the opportunity to capture so many trains on video. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Only to happy to share EdS, and sure have been blessed to travel safely as much as I did back then. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful. Thank you.
What ever happened to the 631, I understand it had a major mechanical problem? I also see it sits out in the yard at Olean, N.Y.
Not sure Jimk. Must have been pretty bad, as it was scheduled to be scraped.
@@1jackdk Thank you for your reply.
