Great game. Been having some real fun. One thing I love about GRID is how it brings the excitement of door to door, bumper to bumper racing. It really harkens back to Race Driver grid and Grid Autosport where races were exciting affairs that really got your heart pumping. I've been playing on the PS4, and one thing I find very disappointing is how Grid (2019) had support for the Thrustmaster BT display addon, this one does not.. and it also has no support for my SF1000 wheel addon.
From an Xbox player whose wheel base just took it's last breath and pretty much only having Forza 7 and PCars 3 to enjoy, GRID Legends is welcome and enjoyable. Good video.

Never finished it. 10h trials of Legends and I would say it is a solid game. Far from the one I like the most Race Driver GRID (2008), but way much better than 2019, grid 2 and better than grid autosport.
Personally I would give the game a 9/10 and in my humble opinion it’s more than an expansion pack for GRID 2019. For the new cars and tracks I could agree, but the story mode, the race creator, the improved graphics, the new weather types like storm and snow, and the new race types like multiclass, boost gates and ramps do give this plenty of “new game feeling” for me. But I 100% agree this is what GRID 2019 should have been. I’m a big racing game fan as well with dozens of racing games on different platforms. But the GRID series still fills in a pleasant gap in the arcade racer scene taking place on circuits instead of open worlds. Apart from Project CARS 3 or even all the way back to DriveClub I can’t really think of any other arcade circuit racing game. (I consider both GT and FM to be more simcade and not enough arcade to be compared to GRID).
@@sj460162 I have both GRID 2019 and GRID Legends. GRID Legends does have better graphics, especially if you have a HDR monitor as the HDR is implemented far better in GRID Legends compared to GRID 2019. The lighting is better as well.
@@acurisur I have still got an old 1080p tv so I guess the new games are optimised for the new gear..although I have heard others say the graphics are better on G19. Well Im glad I sent it back. If its advertised for old gen it should look atleast as good as G19 or they shouldnt release it for old condoles. It should be optimised for both. Im glad youre enjoying it though! I will upgrade my tv soon.
This is the best arcade/Sim I’ve ever played. More arcade than Sim but you definitely don’t feel the ridiculous physics you do in need for speed and others like that. Great graphics as well.
recently got myself a Ps4 for GT7 and to brutally honest I simply can't stomach the model Polyphony has gone with. The always online aspect is total BS which is a shame for sure as I was massively hyped to play it. Grid may just be what I need in making up this disappointment. It also means I get some bonus money by ridding myself of the Ps4. Didn't like the last Grid game but hopefully they've learned Thanks for excellent review
Its you that needs to learn to Stop following male gossip. GT and Grid are amplification opposites. Its takes a skilled and experienced person to appreciate both products. Game developors have general knowledge that takes 50 years to learn. 1 race car has 100 years of development gone into it. Grid is supposed to beat you up If you play it well and can tune a car and your controller. GT beats you up in the school section part. The faster the Grid race car, the more the racing beats you up. They're totally different products.

The downside to this being the game wont function when the servers are taken down which is just part of every game that has a server. Regardless if people have internet we wont be able to access the game In terms of playing GT7 then for a very long time after it's release just like I already have done with previous titles not tied to the always online model, well we wont be able to at a certain point potentially because the game requires an authentication that it simply wont be able to get. I still play GT1 and 2 for example but that's out of the question with a game that absolutely needs to check in because we wont be able to
GRID Legends is pretty good in my opinion when it comes to the handling, it feels reminiscent of their DiRT games which encourages "flat out" driving. But if you're looking for a simulation motorsport racer, I'm sorry to say that GRID Legends doesn't really do that.
I agree...its an expansion pack at best. I was dissapointed at a few things. No multi round tournaments in the creator like Grid 19...Worse replay angles..very poor sound compared to G19 and poorer detail on the original G19 tracks like Havanna.

The arcade handling in the 80's was fine. There should be no complaining in 2022. Computers calculate perfectly in 2022. Reviewers aren't allowed to do ANY complaining now.
Great review as always, this is a game I'll probably pick up in a few months for PC. Still pondering GT7 reviews before I determine if I make a plunge for that first.
Do not buy gt7 in its current state. I bought the game in march 6th. And I'm very disappointed after the microtransactions problem in the game. Do not buy it right now, it's not worth it.
These 2 products you've mentioned are related. You and your sick friends are crazy to compare unrelated car racing games. They use opposite amplification axis to create the games.
I tend to talk about graphics and audio in my first look videos, and then focus on the areas that take more time to judge fairly in the full review. Control does get covered in that, normally in the accessibility section. Music I don't cover, as to be honest most PC titles don't include it and those titles that do, it's the first thing I turn off.
No race car tuning category. No controller adjustment category either. No mention of a life spent tuning race cars. No mention of seeing what your adjustments did to the car's performance during 1 race track.
See, I would've loved to buy this game, but who the f's decision was it to release it alongside GT7 and ACC? Oh well, better for my wallet to just wait until it's basically free anyways
Bored of this already.completed the story and started a career.Theres no leader board,the cars move back n forward motion as it changes gear feels weird and the strange jerky sideways action makes it even stranger.This game hasn't been good in a long time,seems to be the way games are going these days. Might give it another go at some point but I doubt it will last. Enjoying career mode so much more!!!

Just gonna say that I at the same time like and hate handling: Pros: - Tire model is much better than 2019 Cons: - Suspension model sucks ass - Way too much grip and traction (drifting is painfully unnatural) compared to speeds of cars (in "older" Codemasters games cars were significantly faster than in IRL on straights. Here they feel slower. E.G super touring Laguna achieved 164mph on Bathurst but in game you will struggle to achieve 155mph). With clearly cheating and too easy AI, lackluster physics and damage model compared to original from 2008, amount of recycled content, I cannot recommend this game. If they "fix" suspension, I would. But they won't and I feel like codies will stick with this fucked up, shitty model they used in Grid2019, Dirt5 and Grid:Legends.
What makes a good handling model? Isn't it incredibly subjective? I find the GRID 2019 handling fantastic and a lot of fun. I don't know...complaining about handling models is about as valuable as being upset that something isn't your favorite color. GRID cars are fun to drive for a large segment of players. Never meant to be realistic or "natural" (whatever that means). Basically what you are saying is that you don't find GRID handling fun right? P.S. I found Shift 2 handling way back on the PS3 to be terrible...but I know a lot of people enjoyed it. I'm glad.
Way too much grip? You're supposed to get the cars up to their normal racing speed. Only at those speeds will the cars behave exactly like the real thing. The game can't adjust amplification values at slower speeds. Real race cars drive terribly at slower speeds. Users should have lots of knowledge before expecting things from racing games. If the real car demands you touch the brake to get it to turn for the corner, you'll have to get the car travelling fast enough to get the brake to do the same job in the simulation game.
The silly thing is you cause you don't have the knowledge we have. I've been racing for decades. I've learned all about amplification. I've dismantled and rebuilt cars. You're Way below our knowledge level. Tune the controller, tune the cars and know what the real car should do and you shouldn't have any problems. You should learn about what the real car does. These games teach you what you don't know about racing cars.
the handling model in this has nothing to do with Dirt 5. This handling is an evolution from 2019 which itself was an evolution from Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally 2.0 As for the Laguna being slow, it is like that because of the upgrades system. With full upgrades speeds are what you'd expect.

Glad they addressed the handling problem around corners from Grid 2019. That was frustrating at times. Looking forward to trying Legends out.

Grid 2019 remastered. Also when we say arcade handling... we just mean it's not simulation, true arcade handling also missing.
The arcade handling in the 80's was fine.
