Btw some interesting news from Codemasters. For 2022, they have confirmed that they be teaming up with TOCA (the same organisation which runs the British touring car championship) to do a all new Touring car championship game.
I miss so much ToCa 2 Touring Cars game & mechanics, plus the amount oof possible racing series given in ToCa 3 Race Driver. If combine those both ideas = I would be happy! I miss those oldschool games.
Wonder how they are going to name it, Grid: TOCA 3 Touring Cars? Code's always liked to change name of their series, but this would be first to go back to original name.
Sadly after Toca period no game was focused on touring cars anymore , no game of any series. I like focused racing games , instead all became a mix with "a little of everything" or "a little of every single year of the history of cars" , that's not what I like. The only exceptions were games about rally races , formula races and nascar races , but I don't like formula , nor nascar. Rally games got worse and worse in the last years. And then there is this presumed "simulative (sim)" matter , as the truth is that the only ones who can barely decently simulate a true race are professionals simulators , which are not videogames. So "sim" games are not sim and are boring too , they just need more time for learning the handling , then everything becomes so normally boring. I don't even mind in some old games it was not possible to change the pattern and colors of the cars , cars had a sense of uniqueness right because of that , and the patterns were even more beautiful because there was no influence by true sponsors...my favorite of the series? Toca World Touring Cars , even more the one for GBA , I like a lot the handling style of that game. All an intelligent person can say is: want a sim? Go with your car to the fckn circuit or try a true carreer.
I remember being mind blown when i saw my own name on the car window in the first game. Thats not a feature anymore even on the modern F1 games. Small detail i know but imo its the small things that differ the good video games from the great ones
I loved TOCA Race Driver 3, it might no have the large roster of cars from the later games, but it had an incredible variety in different racing styles I haven't seen since. From touring cars to rally to formula and even go-karts, and pretty much everything in-between. You could even race lawn mowers lol. GRID Autosport was actually really good as well imo.
It had so much more content than TOCA 2, every track has a night version. The 3D models had also more details. It's nothing short of a miracle how much they could show at once, on at least 20 cars with great AI. The ps1 had 33mhz cpu and 2mb ram.

Awesome
It's not codemasters it's another game developer motorsports games
Nascar Heat developer does, not Codemasters.

1:39 that damage physics is better today than a lot of racing games
0:35 10,000 hours of playtime burnt into my retinas
their fetish of narrow city racing ruined the series for me. Toca 3 was the best.
toca 2 tourinho cars is my favourite ps1 racing
1997 is a legit good game even today
My Favs:
ToCA 2: Touring Cars
ToCA: Race Driver 3
GRID
GRID 2
GRID Autosport

dude he is the worst nightmare on driving Multiplayer :D
I didn't know that GRID used to be TOCA.
Someone here after Grid Legends?
With Grid starts the decline. The games before are games for motorsport fans. The games after try to appeal to the NFS audience too.
I remember being mind blown when i saw my own name on the car window in the first game.

Yes! I would love the small details I would find in these games that other racing games would not have!

Why did they go so arcade like with the handling?
Tried playing legends and everything drifts around corners now.
Didn't use to be that way
My favorites are Toca World Touring Car, Race Driver 3 and Grid 2
toca 2 touring Cars siempre en mi memoria
Remind me not to race in front of you 😂
Era muy difícil con teclado que tiempos atrás jajaja
sin duda y más cuando el auto se ponía a derrapar mucho.
3:20 wait monster trucks?
Thats cool
Thanks for the video showcasing all of these but man... the driving could have been better 😅 .
It change so muchh 😯
Toca 2000 god
wait wait wait wait these games ARE RELATED?
McKane from the last Grid is the same from the PS2 game, only he's 55 in Grid
Race Driver PSP? Why didn't I know that?
it's a pretty good game (for a PSP game). the best racing game for PSP imo
TOCA Word Touring Cars honestly looks worse than its predecessor. I thought games' successors are supposed to be better than the predecessors.
World Touring Cars came out on PS1 only, not on PC.
@@tristanheron4144 ok
Yes. I was thinking that too but the PlayStation One had its technical limitations so that's probably why it looked worse visually.
@@SqeeG makes sense aye

Not really a great driver are you 😅
