Hi thanks for this, so I'm guessing the bit driver can be used on the surge too, is it magnetic and do the bits extract easily and fit well or is it like the leatherman bits which are sometimes difficult to remove when using normal bits. Bit gutted I spent cash on the leatherman bit kit after seeing this, other than size what are advantages do you think the l.m bit kit has over this? Thanks for your hard work.
I have trouble understanding these bit extenders and ratchets. The regular bit expansion kit already barely makes sense (its extra stuff you have to carry, but its flat so its more compact). The point of a multitool is that you happen to be carrying it around when you need it because its so compact. Having to carry around a whole bunch of accessories to 1) expand the range of use cases your Leatherman can be used as a bit driver and 2) just to use your Leatherman seems ridiculous. At this point you're approaching the point of it being better/more compact to just carry around a dedicated small screwdriver, possibly with a built-in ratcheting mechanism and bit holder. Or even better, wear a Leatherman Tread style bracelet. Having all this stuff just to plug into the bit driver starts to seem a bit ridiculous to me. Like sure, you can make a bit adapter so you could use your Leatherman as the handle for a vacuum cleaner or a spatula, but is that really all that helpful compared to a dedicated tool?
I've been waiting years for someone to make this ! 👍 $23 is a bit much for Chinese quality metalwork 😕 I love the design of that ratchet driver though !
I just carry my Leatherman multitools with me and leave the bit kit home, you're making me look very bad.😁 I have a Leatherman tool sheath with the hole in the bottom so you can open carry the multitool. I find the sheath doesn't hold the multitool well, the sheath is too small for the Wave and it was sent to me directly from Leatherman as a package. I like to pocket carry the Wave and Surge. Its fine in the winter with extra pockets available on my Carhartt or Dickies jacket but come warmer weather I just wear a t- shirt, loosing valuable pocket space. The Leatherman accessories pouch is very nice, but when I take a drives into the city I don't want to advertised I'm carrying valuables with me.
Definitely makes sense. I have found several options for Leatherman tools I may review this year. Also I need to come up with several full accessories kit options. Should be fun!
Leatherman should have just went with the normal " 5/32'' precision bits " instead of their silly flattened proprietary bits. Love Leatherman but they are definitely flawed in many areas. Including their bits & the 420HC steel they use on most tools. I would like to see 154CM or s30v a standard on blades & scissors. Maybe even 440C or D2. Something other than a couple "Premium Models" with a hefty price increase.
The Wave is nowhere near a good multitool. Here's why. The Wave has almost unusable medium flat screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver, since their adaptor is too wide and too short. The scissors rather belong in a manicure than in a multitool because they can easily be substituted by the knife in most cases. The ruler is almost illegible on the Wave, whereas on the Rebar it's excellent. The pliers are much wider and better to use in the Rebar, while the needle nose crap in the Wave is unstable and too narrow. In general, the Rebar is much steadier and efficient. I also highly appreciate the Rebar's awl, which is completely missing in the Wave. The Wave is more fashionable than usable.
I try to avoid accessories. Sure, one can attach a chainsaw or an aircraft carrier to the Leatherman, but they just are another systems aside from the actual Leatherman multitool. Modifying is the way to go, not carrying extra gadgets.
That adapter would be even better for something like the surge that doesn’t offer a microdriver
Good point!
Gonna get one for my signal!
@@Farls Nice!
Me puedes decir la marca de la carraca. Y donde la comprasteis. Muchas gracias
The Prestacycle bike ratchet with internal bit storage. There should be a link to Amazon in the video under the more section.
My Surge is screaming for this

I believe the 1/4 bits do have a magnet to hold in the bit driver.
@@hvacbudget8600 thanks, all the best
Nice find!
Thanks!
How about the links for Aliexpress?

Now just add a t-shank adapter in place of the micro driver.
Have you found any 4mm Double Sided bits like the victorinox but with better Is selection
No. I may have to look into that!
Or you could get the letherman/Galvanox extension and the Wiha 6mm to 4.5mm bit and call it a day. The Wiha bit is fantastic.
I got the leatherman extension which allows standard bit sizes but cant find the adapter bit you mention.

I’d like to just file down that 4mm adapter so it fits into the wave the same as leathermans proprietary bits.
Great idea!
a centerdrive-like adapter would be great 😊
I agree!
😀😀cool

I had some issues with the Wave as well so I have been redoing my tool to suit my needs.
