- An unplanned adventure in the Lake District heading to anywhere to use my 3F UL Lanshan 2 Pro tent for the first time. I squeezed it in on a cliff face pitching incorrectly but the only way it would go.
I LOVE THIS TENT! I was surprised at how good it is and how easy to pitch. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good and I’ll definitely be using it more often especially because it’s lightweight and has loads of head height and room for Blue and I.

Hi Al. Your videos inspired me to wild camp for the first time since I was a kid. I camped at Red Tarn and Sprinkling Tarn last month. Both were incredible. I even convinced my teenage son to get off his PS4 and come with me. Your passion for the outdoors is contagious ! Thanks.
Wow thank you! That is exactly why I’m doing this and you are the perfect example of making a life choice for yourself and definitely your lad. I’m going to take my lad out hopefully soon for the same reason! Bloody gaming!
Trekking poles will save your knees. This will make a difference later on in life. I find they give me 10% more power going up and more safety, less jarring of knees and more speed going down.
Great video as usually. I think Solo Summiteer put me on to you.
Yes it would be good to get out for a camp with Dave. We are quite similar and he’s one of the few channels I watch. Trekking poles aren’t for me yet😂. Being a fell runner they just seem a hinderance at the minute.
Thanks Pete.
Awesome vid as always. I'm glad to see Blue successfully attacked that drone that he has been hating on for weeks.
It was hilarious! I told him off for it but said I’d forgive him if it was good footage! It wasn’t bad so I let him off 😂. Thanks Dave.
Great little video Al really enjoyed this one. Decided this is my favourite you tube channel now. Had a little chuckle when you were stood outside your tent in't shorts and knee length wool socks. Couldn't decide if you reminded me of a 1930s footballer or a German 😉😆😆. Any how brilliant video.
😂 I’m just trying to set new fashions. Well I’ll happily be your best UA-cam channel😊. I best keep the standard up for you.
Thanks Tony.
Nice one again. I was like you at one time. No need for poles. But now I use them a lot. I’m 40% faster going up and my knees don’t ache coming down anymore. Coincidence??
Anyway I cringed 😬 when you did the broccoli 🥦. You boil the water. Then add it for 4 minutes. Done. 👌 remember I’m Geordie Ramsey. Had to chuckle when blue brought the drone down 😂 cheers for taking us along. Atb 👍
I also meant to ask did you seam seal that lanshan? Everyone I’ve watched has had to. 👍
If I used poles before my dad I’d never live it down 😂. I need to come to your camp kitchen for some cooking lessons! Although I’m currently building my outdoor cooking fire pit so I can use all my cast iron skillets and Dutch oven. You’d love it! I’m building a yurt round the fire. Filming it all too.
Oh and I haven’t seam sealed it yet and only will if it becomes an issue. I was well surprised with the tent 👍
Don’t knock the trekking poles!😂 I’ve had to start using them on steep terrain because of injury and subsequent surgery. The poles mean that I can still get out and take on difficult routes - I’m not quite as agile as you 😊
Loved the video and loved that Blue got the drone. Thanks for all your amazing work Al, really appreciate it 💜
Well there are several tents that need poles so I might have to start. They are great in winter on snow too. I definitely would advise people to use them… more so if injured.
Top job!! 👍👍 - hope the drone made it OK...a cracking spot of footage - Cheers mate - T🙂
Hey Tony! Thanks mate. I couldn’t believe the dog pulled it out of the sky. At least, come the apocalypse, I know the dog can catch birds to eat 😂.
Another Great vid, I like the look of the tent & it looked quite windproof up there, blue makes me laugh & that breakfast looked great worth hauling the milk with you..
I love my granola! Thanks Julie. I’m definitely liking the tent but I need to test it hard!
I’ve had my Lanshan 2 pro for a while and used it in all sorts of conditions, I love it! Nice seller.
Nice camp mate - tent looks good, I fancy one - but can't get any more tents at the moment! Love that area - good stuff pal, Chris
Thanks. Borrow mine anytime mate.
"I can't go over to the dark side." 🤣🤣🤣 Love it. Great Vid.
😂 I sort have had to with a couple tents similar😂
Awesome hike. Thank you for sharing and wishing you a wonderful day.
Thank you! It’s all by about kindness and spreading positivity… you have a wonderful day too! 😬
Another winner, Bushman. It looked an awesome place to be in a tent, So quiet and secluded. I have a flint lighter too but too afraid to use it on Dartmoor & cause a fire, so I’ve gone piezo electric. Laughed at your “these are just tent poles” quote 😂 Always a marmite discussion on ultra races
Even in an ultra I wouldn’t use those ‘tent poles’ 😂. I ran my first ultra a few weeks back being 38.5 miles. They would have slowed me down! I ran most of it under 5min km pace so I’d only need them for a couple hills I walked (about 3% if the race). I hate marmite😂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE hate Marmite?! 😱 I’ve changed my opinion of you 😂 Next thing you’ll be eating granola and semi skimmed for breakfast and dinner 😉
😂😂😂 I love my granola!
Great video! Going on my first wild camp in 2 weeks and I can’t wait…. Keep up the amazing videos mate.
Cheers Will. I hope you have a fantastic time. You’ll learn so much the first couple of times mainly what you need and what you don’t.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE I’ve already leaned so much from you mate, made some poor purchases thank fully got them sorted out but so much more to learn, I just can’t wait to be out there!!
It’s easy to buy the wrong thing. It takes a lot of camps and kit change before you’ll feel totally happy with it all. There is always new kit to try!
I’m glad I’ve helped you out 😊
Had some trecking poles myself, was in Scotland on the summit of Bidean Nam Bian, massive thunder storm and lightning strikes. S**t myself! An the metal spikes got left up there! 🤣
😂it might have been a faster way off the mountain.
Another great video fella. Keep the content coming. We use them as ideas for our walks....just haven't got round to the wild camping yet.
Oh that’s good! It’s nice to get an idea of places to head out for the day. You’ll have to have a go at a camp out too!
Oh Lanshan .. everybody has it these days...
Love your vids..and Blue ♥️
Thank you Linda! It seems everyone loves blue!
Tremendous video again bushman👍, love to have a dog like blue he’s amazing well trained , can’t wait for next vid 👍
Thanks mate! Blue is an awesome dog and companion for our adventures.
Nice 1 - enjoyed that as always
Like the links to your kit handy
Atb 👍🏽
Cheers Dave. Trying to help others get some ideas on kit although I’m a bargain hunter and pick things up when the price is right.
Another mega vid dude. Love it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cheers man! I just love being out in it all!
You make everything look so straightforward. The tent looks like a great option for the summer months. The poles are great for taking pressure off the knees on descents and always take them with me because of this. Not all of us are racing snakes. The OMM chest pod is now on my shopping list. Great video. ATB.
Thanks Al! Cool name although I was named after the river so it’s spelt allen. Honestly that tent surprised me and perfect for summer or even good weather camping. OMM do have some great lightweight gear. Sometimes a bit expensive but it is good quality.
Absolutely stunning. Your drone skills and footage are great. I’m loving these videos. Love the top tips.
Cheers mate. I’m slowly getting better!
Brilliant video, love that tent and that view in the morning. SWEET! 👍🏻
I always try find spots that are new and quite epic. That one was lovely nestled in between the craggy north face. Cheers.
Love to video and your enthusiasm and your pup!
Great video and informative reviews. Thanks, Bush Man.
No problem mate. I’ll try keep using new kit to show everyone but I’m not going to be a review channel. Next vid out in 2 mins…
OMG, when i saw where you were pitching, i thought (in a good way) he's a bloody nutter! 😳 Good job you don't drink a lot, or you might come out for toilet needs in the night and fall off the cliff🤪 ! As usual, you, Blue and your content are superb to watch! Thank you!
😂 definitely alcohol could be a dangerous one up in these places. I am a nutter 😉
@@BUSHMANandBLUE Snap!!!! 🤣🤣
Another great video mate! What a spot!! Whenever those clouds parted it was beautiful!
Thanks Steve. It was lovely. The next video is an even better spot!
I look forward to it bud!
Wow !!! I cant find the words to say about that pitch & view . Of all the blokes & folks ive been watching this past year, Totally Stunning mate. Really enjoyed your storm camp in the Nordic made tent, There again Wow!!! You and your dog are cool. Cheers & good hiking, & Merry Christmas to you & yours. From across the pond in B.C. Canada (the wet coast) .
Thanks Peter. Glad you found me from way over there👊. Take care👍👍👍
I am a recent convert to using bottom section for tent n gubbins too. I was always heard that tent in top in the interest of heavier stuff at top n first out on arrival and last away when striking camp but tbh the tent in bottom has suited me both times I’d done it that way without detriment. I thought I’d watched this one already but hadn’t! Great vid as usual mate - enjoyed the bluesy guitar bit too👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Chris. Glad you enjoyed it!
Done my 3rd hike today, done 9 wainwright’s and it was to much for me but one of the guys gave me their hiking poles and they saved me. Honestly they’re so needed for certain walks/people. They help massively. It’s surprising
Yeah I might use them properly one day. Currently I generally move too fast so they get in the way. When I slow my pace I’ll use them. 😬
Amazing video as always and drone footage is awesome! Blue going for the drone was my fav part 😆
P.s how have you not got millions of subscribers?
That dog could have made me cry but luckily it was undamaged. As for subscribers… I’m hoping to get millions 😂. It’s just slow getting people to see my videos. It helps when people like yourself tell friends etc. I’ll get there one day!!!
I've got no doubt that you will get there and of course, I've already been spreading the word don't you worry 👍
Thanks Kate! I’ll try keep the quality or even improve 😊
Absolutely it's an awesome channel, thank you for it
Great film Al, I think I’ll stick to carrying my tent poles though 😊👍🏻
😂yep! Thanks Nick.
Greetings from New Zealand. I've been enjoying a few of your videos and I had to comment on this one. I grew up in Glenridding and have relatives who farm at Hartsop, with upland grazing from Angle Tarn over the High Street ridge and round to the top of Kirkstone. It's still the centre of my universe, even though I live rather far away these days. Usually make a trip back most years but Covid has scuppered things for the moment. Hopefully 2022! In the absence of international air travel it's lovely to see you so thoroughly enjoying this beautiful corner of Britain - that was a top hidden spot you chose to pitch. I hope those sheep you heard bleating weren't too unruly, they were fairly likely ours!
Ey up Al! I’m sure you miss it all although NZ is about the only place I’d trade for it. My brother lives there too. I’m glad you get to see the lakes through my lens but next year you can see it in person 😬😉. Thanks mate.
Wonderful. Thank you.
Cheers.
Enjoyed your video with Blue. Although I was a bit worried about the tent being a bit close to the edge!! Take care
I like living life in the edge!… you get a better view of the world 😬😊
Great video x
Great video Al ,heard a lot about the lanshan tents but having trekking poles as part of the structure just seems wrong to me 😆I like to have a tent with an inner just to feel safer in the mountains but maybe I should give it a go .blue is a lovely dog 🐕 too ,I’m definitely going to give the hydropack a look too keep them coming great content 👍👍
Thanks man! The 2 litre hydropack is perfect for wild camping. I love mine. If the weather was bad I’d be in a different tent and not take the risk but I do want to test the tent to it’s limits.
Great vid haha..love the old man walk at the end😂! Pure luxury camp compared to the cave, ey! Only just started taking poles with me for the descents, my knees and back are at least 100 years older than i am😭..the poles do give me balance when i need it, but dont use them going up👍 entertaining vid mate..top job🤘 ..is that the first time blue has got the drone? 😂👍
5* hotel compared to the cave. Blue follows the drone around but i never thought he’d pull it out of the sky 😂.
Thanks mate much appreciated!
For me trekking poles is a seasonal and situational thing. I find them really useful in steep terrain, especially in winter conditions (context: I live in Sweden (icy and snowy conditions), but I don't climb mountains, so an ice pick is a little bit overkill for me). Acts as additional points of contacts with the ground while standing up.
Great support on icy rough terrain and I’m sure in Sweden they come in handy a lot. As I said great as tent poles 😂👍
Great video. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Lanshan 2pro too. It looks epic...and a great price from your link 👍
I’m not nailed it in harsh weather yet but it seems pretty good as a three season tent. I think it’s a no brainier to have one especially if you walk with poles. It weighs only 900g! You won’t be disappointed. I’m sure I’ll always have use of it even though I have several tents. With my link I get a commission which will help.
Thanks mate.
Al
@@BUSHMANandBLUE nice one cheers. I'll defo use your link when I decide. Keep up the good work, me and my wife are loving your vids...they keep us fired up, until we can can back out there 👍...long covid effects stopping us at the mo 🙈 may get some low level stuff in, if I get the lanshan 🤞👌
I love that couples and family’s are sitting down to watch my videos! Thank you so much. I hope you feel better soon and can get out and enjoy it all.
Take care.
Just happened upon your channel, excellent video, so I have subbed
ATB, Dave 👍
Welcome Dave! There’s plenty of videos to watch. I’ve had loads of people saying they binge watched the lot which made me laugh.
Enjoy and thank you.
Al
The One Tigris Tangram which I have is very similar to the Lanshan, little more weight and bigger pack size, but tough as old boots. And I use the the collapsible poles by Trekology, comes with a casing, fits well to the inner or outer of your sack. Fanastic done footage and location.
I might have to get some lightweight poles that will fit in my bag. I’ll have a look at the treckology ones. They always seem to be cheap and cheerful. Thanks.
Spot on camp again Al, cheers to you and Blue. I’ve also got the Lanshan 2pro and you’re right, it’s a fantastic bit of kit but you’ll definitely need to seam seal it. Take care.
Thanks mate. It’s just another job to add to my already massive list 😂. Great tent though.
Nice review. For the price it'd defo one to look at.
I bought it, very good budget option
Amazing video 🤩🤩🤩
Upload more videos please
I’m waiting 😊😊
Wow have you watched all my videos? 😂. I’ll always keep them coming! Thanks mate.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE yes I watched all of your videos😍😍😍
One day you'll come round to using at least one pole as a balancing aid:) I use a mld duomid single pole tarptent which is even lighter/simpler than this and is mountain weather bombproof .. lovely Merle and no doubt a very good hotdogwaterbottle .. which means a lighter sleeping bag can be used, certainly the case with my black and white jobbie:)
I can’t use poles before my 81 year old dad! 😂 My dog is lovely but he sleeps in the porch as he’s usually filthy. For survival maybe I’d utilise his heat.
I know who Larry is, 😀😀😀, is Larry Foley, who won boxing match long time ago. Anyway, I am enjoying your videos from South Africa. You make it look so easy.
Yes somebody else mentioned it. Interesting though! Thanks my friend.
Hey there! That’s a great tent, especially for the price!
I think you can get aftermarket poles for this tent so you don’t have to carry trekking poles.
Yes there are a couple places that will make you poles to the length you need. Trekking poles are pretty light though and have duel use. Cheers 👍👍👍
I appreciate its an old vid, however...Just got this tent to play with, hope to to my lad (George, the lab in my pic) out in the great outdoors....
I like the tent especially for summer. I’m looking forward to using it again. 👍
Yep. Makes no sense to me either to put a sleeping bag in the bottom compartment. That's where my tent and cooking gear goes (nope never crushed anything). I love Lowe-Alpine, I bought the Cerro Torre 65:85 for a month wild camping in the Dolomites. An amazing pack that carries a lot of weight (26kgs with all my camera gear) beautifully.
Poles : couldn't hike without them. They've saved me from umpteen falls (clumsy doesn't come close to describing me) and are superb when fording rivers or crossing boulder fields in the rain.
The dolomites are stunning! A place I’ve been but haven’t explored properly. I like the comfort of the Lowe alpine bags. I think they are the comfiest👍
I require trekking poles for anything more challenging than an escalator. But I have seen people use these tents with carbon fibre tent poles, which would be a fraction of the weight and easier to carry. Worth considering if you enjoy the tent as much as you loath trekking poles!
😂Definitely worth a look at. My poles are pretty light but ones that fold in three would be better to carry too.
Have a nice day
Thanks. Nice tent!
Another good one from blue and yourself , how heavy would you say your rucksack is 👍
Thanks mate. It varies depending on what I’m doing and where I’m going but for two nights it’s between 10 and 15kg. You can go lighter but I like my comfort.
Love the video. Interesting choice of pitch. Is it true that this tent doesn't come with taped seams?
Yes but many tents don’t which is annoying. I’ve never had an issue though and won’t seal it until I do👍👍👍. Great tent though especially if you walk with poles.
fantastic video, stunning views once the cloud moved on, I do have a question though, im taking my lanshan 2 pro out in to snowdonia tomorrow "wednesday" for the first time, ive seem sealed mine today ready for tomorrow, didnt you seem seal yours? as you said it was the first time you'd pitched it.
No I haven’t. If it becomes an issue then I will but most of the time I think I’ll use it in good weather anyway or only light rain.
Thanks 😊

Brilliant videos top bloke .
I'm doing the bob Graham round in October. Do you have any tips or advice plz . Done a few hikes this year . Cleveland way . And nidderdale way
Sounds like you’re on it anyway! It’s a fair trek and I’ve done sections in the past. I’ve got the booklet on it and it’s pretty epic. Are you running it or walking? Either way look after your feet. If they go then you pretty much have to stop.
A massive good luck and let me know how you get on.

Hi Al,
Can you tell me if there are import taxes if I buy this tent?
Cheers
Ian
Not to the UK as it’s made and sent from China. 👍
Unsure if anyones mentioned below but the door guylines are supposed to be pegged out the same as how the end ones are, having the same line running from where the pole is at the top out to peg, then back to the bottom of the doors. Its a brill tent. I have the none pro with a 4 season inner.
Yes thanks. Where I pitched though one side had a 2 ft drop so I had to lengthen the guy to reach and the other was into a rock so had to adapt using a stone. When pitched correctly it is a lovely set up. I really like it!
Thanks mate.
Al
Oh and to be fair you are the only one that noticed! Good eye!👍

Hi do you weigh your pack once its packed ? Another great video
Yes sometimes. It’s usually between 7-12kg in summer and 12-18 in winter.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE we have just been to angle tarn for the night and my pack was 15kg which was very tiring to carry setting off from gillside camp site glennridding. I’m guessing more practice needed.
It’s always hard walking up steep hills with that extra weight.
Answe to your question about who ever Larry was 😂
There are two commonly espoused contenders. One is the Australian boxer Larry Foley (1847 - 1917). Foley was a successful pugilist who never lost a fight. He retired at 32 and collected a purse of £1,000 for his final fight. So, we can expect that he was known to be happy with his lot in the 1870s - just when the phrase is first cited.
The alternative explanation is that it relates to the Cornish and later Australian/New Zealand slang term 'larrikin', meaning a rough type or hooligan, that is, one predisposed to larking about.
Wow interesting! I’m as happy as a rich boxer that’s taken some punches in the head😂. I’ll start a new one ‘as happy as Al and Blue’ 😉😂😂😂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE It’s a term I be used for years and I used it in conversation with a an American chap I worked with a couple of years ago and he asked “who is Larry?” Of course I had no clue as it is just an old saying 😂
Amazing what we learn from a Google search 👀
Cracking videos Al, keep them coming 👍🙏🏻
Cheers mate! I love some of the older saying and where they’ve come from. ‘Dead ringer’ is the best.
What does Blue eat and does he sleep with a blanket?
On a camp out I take a combo of dry food and a couple of small pouches for him to eat (he carries it!). He had a very thick coat so he seems good to about minus 10 (if dry) as long as he is sleeping on his mat so doesn’t lose heat through the ground.
Does the tent have an inner fly sheet mate?
No it’s single skin. Perfect one if you use poles👌
There is a link in the description to it 👍

It’s just his own food and bedding really. I also have a rope in there with a couple of carabiners so if I need I can pull him up or lower him down any cliff. On the way back he carries the litter and empty beer tins😬
I might buy him a camera to put on his back though 🤔. Although it will be just sheep footage and the occasional drone chase 😂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE haha that would be awesome such a cool dog! He loves it!
@@BUSHMANandBLUE sounds like my mate Thompson 😂
From The Hills
"And when the clouds are on the land
In shelter he may lie,
And watch adown the misty glens
The rain go marching by,
Along the silent flank of fells
Whose heads are in the sky."
.......
"The men who dwell among the hills
Have eyes both strong and kind,
For as they go about their works
In Heaven 's sun and wind,
The spirit of the 'stablished hills
Gives them the steadfast mind"

👌 quality my friend 👊
Does your dog just ignore the sheep's?
He is a very keen sheep dog and enjoys working sheep. He’s well trained so waits for my command. Naturally he would chase them but he’s well controlled.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE brilliant🙂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE A farmer would shoot first and think later, that's my only concern. Nearly happened to me and mine were on leads.
@@carpediem3044 I’m not worried about farmers. If my dog was out of control and attacking sheep might consider shooting it but not in public space with me walking with it.
get me dose of blue b4 I drop off
😂😂😂
Leave vestibules open and voila no condensation!
Often but not so much in saturated air. It’s just damp 😂
Imagine in that place if you are a sleep walker and u don't know
😂 yes that could be fun😬
Have a look at bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk for lightweight compact poles to suit trekking pole tents. Lighter & more compact than trekking poles if you don't normally use them
Cheers Dave I definitely will!
