I’ve seen a lot of people criticize my gameplay. I just wanted to leave a comment letting you all know that showcasing 49 plants is a lot of work so most rounds I was just trying to get as many different plants in as possible.
For example, when you see Scaredy Shroom in the first couple rows, it’s not because I think that’s a good strategy, it’s because I was specifically getting footage of him hiding from zombies. Stuff like that. Hope that makes sense to everyone!
Uhhh no this IS a design tier list. It’s how much I like each one by their usefulness, design, and overall likability.

Quick, Explode-o-nut Ranking. He doesn't really count since he's only in the 2 Wall-Nut Bowling Levels and a power up in the mobile version, but I'm curious on your thoughts. And Big Nut from Wall-Nut Bowling 2, because he's Big Nut.
Haha obviously big nut is just better, but sure. He’s just a glowing rolling red walnut and while the levels he is used in are pretty fun I don’t really like it more or less than the regular wall nut. He’s more unhinged looking in the sequel so that was kinda the main reason I decided to hold off on ranking it. Other than it not being in the almanac

Welcome to the PvZ tier list community, we will now be expecting a tier list of all the plants and zombies from every game in the franchise, every power-up, all the chinese versions, every game and every world/map.

I have just a few complaints!
1. Potato-mine is probably one of the most fun early-game plants to use, and once you're done setting up your sun producers you can still chuck them in front of a pole-vaulter to waste his jump for 25 sun!
2. Another really cool thing about puff-shroom is not only the free damage, but also the free meat-shielding. If you're insane enough, you can stall using puff-shroom for a very long time if you keep spamming it on cooldown. Puff-shroom is the shaggy of PvZ, it only uses 0.1% of his power because otherwise he would destroy reality as we know it.
3. Scaredy shroom is most useful as a backliner. it's better if you place the sun flowers (edit: or rather, sun shrooms) in column 3 and save the space for these early attackers, and later, you can dig them up and put your main defensive plants in their place.
4. Three-peater is a super cool plant to use in lane set-ups. Most people plant their sun flowers in column 1-2 or 3-4, but you could instead plant sunflowers on lanes 1 and 6 while you plant potato mines to defend the early zombies, and lily pads in the first few columns of the pool lanes. Then, as soon as you start being able to afford them, you can place three-peaters on lanes 2 and 4 for maximum efficiency! It's like a scuffed garlic strategy.
5. Bouncing the bungee zombies with umbrella leaf is hilarious, I can't believe you don't love them!
6. Cherry > Jalapeño, fight me.
Nice, I can tell you know much more about being good at the game than I am. I don’t even disagree with you on most of these, I ultimately go crazy on some like threepeater just to make things interesting. Thanks for the tips though! Definitely helpful
Jalapeño is better when your lane is overtaken, that doesn’t happen often so def cherry bomb is better

Honestly, starfruit is underrated by most tier lists,
They can already kill most zombies despite being slightly more than a peashooter, and having multiple columns of them creates an unstoppable wall of damage that can usually beat most levels.
Even if there’s a breach in defenses, that’s covered by the fact that starfruit shoots straight down and straight up, so it’s never a big problem if one is eaten. They’re really cheap defense that can do a really good job at killing everything on screen and EVEN THOUGH their appearance in the first game isn’t the most appealing, they add some color onto the board which I like. They’re usually my first choice for levels
A few niche things about them is the fact that they can solo a bungee zombie about to steal them, and they can be used to get don’t pea in the pool and pool’s closed at the same time for what that’s worth .

I appreciate someone sticking up for starfruit. Yeah, some plants get tanked because of a joke I’ve made, and starfruit was sadly one of them. I don’t personally like starfruit a whole lot but it probably does deserve higher than a C realistically

It's an A tier for me, mainly because it's probably one of the most flexible Damage plants. Reason it cannot go higher is because it's lack of burst as well as restrictions. A row of starfruit isn't nearly as effective and you need an entire army to fare well against the harder stages so that restricts you to only the starfruit as your dmg source. Overall it's definitely a great plant
i always found it weird that its called snow pea in pvz1 but the garden warfare games call it ice pea

Although threepeater is a little too expensive in this game, I really enjoy its gimmick and used it a lot in my first playthrough

nearly 15 years later and this game is still goated I wish it's sequel was this good

it's sequel is leagues and bounds better, it fixes the two main issues that plague the original, being pacing and difficulty
that is to say it actually has a difficulty, as pvz1 is only hard when you're doing some of the stupidest shit imaginable, and pvz1 is just unbearably slow, i had to watch a MOVIE in the middle of it at one point to keep myself entertained
and if you're gonna argue that modern versions of pvz2 have been ruined, yeah, they have been
but you can play older versions on bluestacks and it honestly works really well, levelling isn't a problem, nor are ads, and those are the only real problems the game actually has

My guy placed repeater, puff shroom in c tier and potato mine in D tier, but chomper is in B tier ._.

I love that the video does not just rank usefulness, but design too.
Gatling Pea should be S tier. He's a war veteran with helmet and barrel mouth.
Looking forward to PvZ2 ranking. Since there's so many plants, I suggest ranking the adventure plant first with 69 (nice) plants before moving on to premium plant. Some plants like hypno shroom and garlic are terrible in sequel due to many zombies do not eat plant as they destroy plant instead.

In my opinion, Potato Mine is pretty good!
I use him in the early game while I build up my sun production, set him around the 3rd row/collum right when a zombie appears, and he'll prime a decent amount before the zombie gets close!
And the low sun cost is _very_ good early game!
Seeing this game fills me with so much nostalgia, I remember loving whenever I used a hypno shroom on a dancer zombie since any backup dancers he summoned afterwards would also be on your side
Also looking forward to the PvZ 2 tierlist, haven't played that game since the year it released and it seems like they added/changed a lot

I definitely find that I enjoy the more edgy plants more than the light hearted ones, which is why I love Gravebuster and Tangle Kelp (mostly tangle kelp) so much. I wish they’d kept their old designs and weren’t made less edgy looking in PvZ 2.
Yea definitely park designs on those two in this game. Edgy is just cool nuff said
My favorite planet is the twin sunflower. They just make it so much easier to play the other upgrade plantes, which are amazing. Most of my game strategies are based on stalling while setting them up at the beggining, and slowly planting the base plants for the upgrades at the same time; then, when I have 1000000 suns, I don't need to worry about my super expensive deck cost anymore.
That’s true, it always helps to have more sun. In the adventure levels I don’t even bother with them but I could see that for survival

Here are my critiques:
1. Potato Mine I would put at least A since if you put one in column 3 in the row you see the first zombie spawn, he'll be armed before the zombie reaches him which is a 25 cost stall so you can spam sun producers and make bank which then makes placing a bunch of strong attackers like Repeater much easier much earlier. Plus he is adorable like how a pug is and if Spudow from Heroes is anything to go off of, he probably doesn't look that freaky under the grass.
2. I just want to say how funny it is that this late into PvZ 2's life they added Scaredy Shroom virtually unchanged from PvZ 1, where she was already pretty shit, and make it hell to even unlock her only for her to perform even worse with how much zombie spam and all the approaching gimmicks there are. Jurrasic Marsh is the worst by far for this.
3. I personally think Tangle Kelp should've been in S tier because, even though its limited to Pool levels, in said levels it is an amazing tool that gets a lot of work done. The design is great, the effect is very useful, its just a great plant.
4. As a Blover Believer I find the placement in D tier an absolute crime and you shall atone in due time.
Now we wait for either a ranking of the PvZ 1 Zombies (you better not forget the Zombotony zombies) or the PvZ 2 plants, although the latter could be a few videos for the adventure plants, some of the special ones like the gemium and premium plants (Witch Hazel must be on that list if you do it), and of course the PvZ 2 Zombie tier list which should be fun.
Haha thankfully not too many critiques. I will one day stone for my sins, IM SO SORRY! But I’m glad you liked this list as well
i believe S tier should be preserved for plants that completely bully the game
tangle kelp is good, but unlike potato mine it doesn't really serve the purpose of an early game staller to increase sun production
it does however contend with squash, cause while squash can indeed kill everything in 1 tile while tangle kelp only kills 1, tangle kelp is 3 times cheaper and situations where there are that many zombies clumped up in the pool don't really happen that often (you'd need 3 or more for squash to really be cost effective in comparison)
so i'd say top of B, it's good at what it does, i just wish it was a little better so there's more of a reason to use it over it's land counterparts
great video, I agree with almost all your rankings and even the ones I don't (like Potato Mine) you have good reason for their placements

Potato Mine deserves A or B tier imo, he's very useful for the start of most levels if your planting more Sunflowers, and can be used as a last line of defense for at least 5 zombies if there grouped together (like, if you have a column of them next to the lawnmowers or in front of your sun producers)

I'd rank chomper lower, cherry bomb higher, and maybe puff shroom in B tier, and scaredy shroom is a good early game plant, it has the potential to be better than peashooter, due to costing 25 sun, but It does stop attacking if there's a zombie in a 3x3 area near it, so I'd personally put it in C with peashooter, maybe even B, also, I reccomend putting the sunflowers in column 3 and 4, even though putting them in column 1-2 is considered the original, planting main attackers in the front rows is extremely bad since it means if they get destroyed, you only have sunflowers, if you have split pea or a insta, MAYBE you can save your defence, but you wouldn't want to waste an insta when that could be (almost) entirely avoided by planting attackers in column 1-2.

it is one of the most overpowered little pieces of shit ever invented for gaming
giving you great early game stalling to save up ludicrous amounts of sun, a late game stalling plant that shits all over gargs, small but consistent front line damage aswell as a little extra defense

cabbage pult main here, i just love his design, the way he attacks and the fac that he has double damage than the peashooter but due to the slow attack it has almost the same dps as a regular peashooter. I always use him on easy levels just for fun and as another low cost attacker

@@Bengt2509 well I just feel like he's coming from a bias perspective, not taking in how useful they are, but rather if he likes their design. Yet again, this isn't a *design* tierlist. That's a different thing in the pvz community.

The list is good, only problem i got is, well even tho i love the hypno shroom i think he should be down a bit. I mean you can only use him on bucket heads or football players, and your plants might have already beat them up a bit. Plus the coffee bean with it THATS like 200 sun. And if you say use him only at night, well that’s why puff shrooms are free.

to me they're both just good
scaredy is hella outclassed in terms of being a cheap early game, but it's a much cheaper peashooter so it can act as mid-late game offense if placed in the back
threepeater is only really worth it if you place a lot of them down, but once there your defense will be formidable, although it still has problems like it's main gimmick of shooting in multiple rows, it's a problem because it makes stalling significantly more difficult giving you less time to build up more threepeaters
so i can see both being around B-A, but not quite S

For me , puff shroom and potato mine should be s tier .
Day : during early game , potato mine can waste the zombie time while building line of sun flower , since zombie usually gose 1by1 in early game.
Night : no need to ask , puff shroom is free.
Btw who the hell put scardy shroom on top of the lane ? I always put him behind sun shroom , he have the same damage of a peashooter

There's a little problem about Plantern vs Torchwood in fog:
1. The Plantern has a larger space of light for the fog/ takes up 4x3 sqaures of the lawn or pool.
2. Torchwood takes up ¾/2 of the light for fog,which is really made me confuse me for the whole year [yes, im still banging my head]

The reason for these discrepancies are because I rank things on usefulness, looks, design, stuff like that. That’s how lily pad is in d but grave buster is in A. Hopefully that makes my ranking make more sense

I always plant the Scaredy-Shrooms in line 1.
Line 2-3 is sunshroom/sunflower (or even both sometimes). On Survival levels I upgrade to twins.
Line 4 is Peashooters/Karnel/Cabbage-pults
Line 5-7 Fume & Puff (Puff upgraded to Fume)
Line 8 Wall-Nuts
Line 9 Spikeweed
Yeah you’re definitely right. For this video I was constantly trying to get as many plants out at once as I could so there are a lot of weird positions, like the scaredy shrooms in front. I hope that helps explain why I did what I did

I don’t have a problem of wherever you put the plants design wise (Doom shroom enjoyer) but I do want to say a couple things :
Sunflowers are placed in the front while damage dealers are at the back. I do find it funny using a sunflower to trigger pole vaulters.
Potato mine is easily one of the best early game stallers with puff shroom.
Ice shroom does damage.
Snow pea sucks, fight me. I do like its design.
Scaredy shroom also shouldve just been D tier as it was supposed to be a cheap backliner for early night levels, but then puff shroom.
I hate myself for saying this but, the wallnuts kinda suck, I just either have insta kill plants or sunflowers to slow down the zombies. Maybe it’s just me for putting the walnut in the first column.
Anyways, I like this list.

snow pea is good, just redundant
it can roughly double the damage of all your other peashooters! but torchwood does that more consistently while also applying splash..
it effectively deals twice the damage of a peashooter on it's own, making it a slightly better repeater! but saving 25 sun hardly matters when you're gonna be building a huge colony of sunflowers anyways..
although it applying frost is the best argument for it, since you don't really get that until winter melon which is like a million stages after snow pea
so i'd say it's B tier, it's just a slightly different repeater without torchwood synergy, or well, y'know, without reasonable torchwood synergy

First, Snow pea has a chill effect, usually this would be fine but snow pea did the same damage as a regular pea, aswell as only hitting the front with chill. There are just better options that outclass snowpea, even if they don’t have the same kit. As you said that snowpea has no compatibility with torchwood. As it being a peashooter it’s usage is also cut during roof and night levels just making it harder to use. Then we get Zomboney, and well…
Speedrunning wise, way too slow.
No casual player would like super slow gameplay anyways (no offense) I would still rank Snow pea high C, because the plants I would put in B wouldn’t make sense (ex: Kernel, Fume)

I love scardy mostly cause I love spamming them at the back to support my puff and fumeshrooms. It is designed to be a back line shooter who supports your frontline so that it doesn’t hide

Scardy shroom is a A tear because you can put them at the back at the night level and you can put the sun shroom one tile front and thay work like peashooter
I think that they should partially rank on when you get them- peashooters are so OG and usefull

YES! You should definitely rank all of the zombies in this game as well based off of their design and mechanics. Honestly the zombies have so much personality in this game. Also you shoulda bought the pc version, that ones way better cuz it has some content the mobile game lack, namely the beautiful end credits zombie on your lawn song, the extra content not costing (in game) money, and no more disgusting big head zombies. You should do pvz2 as well ofc and now that youre part of the pvz tierlist community you could do the soundtracks and pvz2 worlds as well. Also i know its a thing for you to hate on a specific character or two in your tierlist videos for jo reason, but i honestly dont hate a single plant design from the furst game, theyre all perfect. Also gonna ignore your god awful takes - i mean great video!1!!!1
