- Here is the much awaited update from Bunny Punia on his G310GS motorcycle. He bought the 2020 BS6 model on 29th October and there was an initial issue in terms of gears not slotting. However, the bike has now done 550+ km and he seems pretty impressed in terms of seat comfort, LED lights, overall ride, pillion comfort levels etc. He has also added a crash guard and rear luggage rack from Zana. You touched upon all the relevant points. Only grouse I have is with ZANA engine and body guard. Why couldn’t they match the red colour with the frame of the bike.
Customer support is very important if BMW has to do well in India. Hope small niggles are solved. I wanted to buy this but now will wait.

Maintenance will not be cheap but it's a pretty practical bike. Just one question, what would be the acclaimed top speed on highway? Without engine stressing out ...

If mileage is greater than harrier diesel then it will help lot of people to opt for innova (7 seater) compared to harrier (5 seater).

Good video, only the point of headlight brightness was bothering me.
What is the comfortable cruising speed without stressing the engine. I understand your bike has limit of 6000rpm until 1st service.
Well I'm sure it can hold 100-110 all day long but let me clarify that post the first service :-)
I have bs4 310gs and it can cruise at 100 to 120. Even at 100 to 120,u can overtake without dropping gear. After 140 kmph, rev limiter kicks in and stops the bike from accelerating.
Brother planning to upgrade from Dominor 400..which one you would suggest BMW 310GS or KTM ADV 390 ?
Dominar to Gs310 is not an upgrade,it's a downgrade.Dominar is best in the segment

I think the prices of tank and engine guard that you have mentioned is wrong.. its 15000 plus.
Team, unfortunately, a grave error. There's misinformation on the Zana parts. I've talked to them over the phone, and it is rightly so (as few others pointed) 16,000/- rupees and not 1,600/-. Viewers, please plan accordingly (and don't get over-excited like me!)

Would you suggest any other bike under 3L.
It doesn't even have to be a tourer. All I need is a very very comfortable bike that can be used for long distance rides.
I was almost sure about the GS but it seems that the after sales service that BMW offers is very bad and also, that issue with the gears.
The Himalayan is good and will save you money. I also like the dominar 400 for its comfort levels.

Purchasing Engine guards and sump guards from motorrad sets you back around 25k. These seem very cheap. Is the quality good? Also what is the difference between Basic and Pro?

Hmm. May be not. The extra punch that comes in post 6000rpm might surprise you. Plus the tall seating.

For offroad, get Himalayan. For offroad/highway get gs
I don't trust himalayan i got bs3 one which i got many issues.just a year of my purchase i had to change the bike magnetic coil.n it had handle bearing issues.basically its not reliable bike
I did ride the BS4 Himalayan for 3 days and few hundred kms. These are my observations: The motorcycle is not refined or feels premium. It has quite a lot of vibrations at low end and high end. Sweet spot is around 60-80kmph. Bs6 engine is a bit more refined. The mirrors are wobbly, often changes directions. Standing position is good but 310GS has a better saddling position. The himalayan is awesome on broken roads but on highways it tends to wobble on the suspension which I didn’t like. I own a HD Street750 & I missed it on the asphalt. Another point which I liked is the full metal chassis which is absent both on BMW and KTM 390 adv. Though I have heard a lot of broken chassis complains of the Himalayan, I found it to be quite sturdy. It also has good capacity to carry luggages but terribly lacks power especially on the freeways. Conclusion: I tried the Himalayan, Ktm 390 adv and 310GS. What I felt is Himalayan is a utility motorcycle, Ktm is a sporty speedburst tourer, 310GS is a bit of both, it comes with Metzeler Tourance 70-30 which is the best amongst the lot. RE provides Ceat & KTM provides MRF. Yes, it’s expensive to maintain if you compare with the other two but budget is a subjective matter & I leave it up to you. KTM provides 2 yrs tyre to tyre warranty which is lucrative. Bmw provides 3 years engine warranty only. KTM comes with Bash plates, crash guards, windshield, charging socket all in stock option. But BMW provides none. If I was below 25 I would have gone for the KTM perhaps. But I found the GS to be more of a gentleman’s ADV and I have finally booked the 40th anniversary edition of the BMW 310GS this week. My recommendation: Count your money first and if you have the budget, go for the GS. Or else, trust the Himalayan. KTM is good for the speedy touring but that’s not what I like, that’s the Versys genre I suppose. 🤗

Between KTM 390 and BMW GS the GS looks any day better. The wire management is too good. Secondly it looks like a true blue tourer.

yes - till 1st service. They have given me a slot for 10th for service (yes, 8 days later, booked it yesterday)

You think 4th gear is the problem. There is one big problem in this bike which is battery/ alternator. Hope bmw have fixed this for bs6.

Yes I faced the same problem and the attitude of bmw motorad is non professional these sales people will call buyers 10 times in a day before sales but after purchase these people show attitude

Looks like in bs6, BMW has given the responsibility of customer care to TVS for 310, so basically nothing BMW in it except the badge and the service & spare cost. The grear issue is such a spoiler of riding experience having to carry along at the back of your mind with no assurance from company. To top it off the no response ignorant attitude of BMW.

Bought this same BMWG310GS from Navnit motors Thane BMW dealer, the dealership cheated me by charging me 15000 towards handling charges, which are totally illegal.have already emailed BMW motorrad to which they replied that they cannot help me with this.
