Perfect timing for this video, I'm getting ready to change the timing chain and oil pump in my T. I wanted to see the process first but couldn't find a good video until this one. Thanks for putting it together. 👍
Great video! After watching, I learned that I would personally prefer to just pay the $1,600 to hire it done by a shop. Bonus for me is if it blows up after, it's their fault.
yup saved a lot of time there, and after this long no oil leaks from the pan. I'm not sure if my Rancho lift kit helped or not, but i have known others to do what i did with stock H3's as well
Hey buddy, why did you change the timing chain to begin with? Did you hear noise at start up? Just bought my wife a 2006, she loves it. Great video, sending good vibes from northern BC Canada ✌️
I actually didn't have a specific reason but i bought this a few months ago at 300,000km and obvious signs it's been beaten to death, so i figured to be on the safe side i would just do it since i had to replace the leaking valve cover seals anyway
@@bloodyKnucklesGarage right on man. Thanks for getting back to me! My wife's has about 260,000 kms. Looks like it's been well taken care of. One morning I went to start it up and I thought I heard what sounded like timing chain slap but it went away after 3 seconds or so and hasn't done it since. I'm a HD mechanic by trade so q job that big doesn't scare me none. Glad I got to see all that was involved with your video though. There seems to be alot of support for these on you tube.
it's definitely a good community, the thing with a Hummer is you either really like them, or not at all, and to still be driving one 15-20 years after it was made shows some dedication if you do mechanic stuff already you'd be fine for sure, the hardest part was intake manifold, trying to figure out how to get to those little bolts. Take off alternator and slide arm in from the side, you can get a socket and extension on them, and other arm puts ratchet on the end
I bought one . Wasn’t running , overhauled almost everything. Put. Ack together and it runs for 15 min then dies . Runs good but dies after 15 min every time . Is it Timing ?
It seems this H3 hammer with un dsigned GM engineers it's installed with cheep GM collections using Silly imported chaineez engine , even though the engine is small but the engine bay is still not enough to cover the problems.. GM added alot of alterationsons for adjeusting outside fittingsjust to force install this silly designed engine its too hard n bloody jobe always leaky valves leaky cyl heads and for dismental any parts certains bolts is hard to reach by hand.. too hard to work on it
it seems to me that GM had a vehicle in mind, designed it, and thought about the engine last and threw in whatever they were already producing in other vehicles, even though it was a terrible match. a couple years later they brought out the Alpha v8 but by then sales were really low and it was too late. My 2c anyway.. :)

I had similar problem so i decided to jump in. If you have any questions let me know! to date the oil pan is fine, no leaks also

thanks! and for $1600 i'd definitely consider that if i had to again haha
Well done thank you
thanks for watching!
So you got it done without unbolting the engine mounts and lifting the engine because of the oil pan? It sure would save me time.
