So let me make sure I've got this straight, regular speedruns and content relating to that on this channel. Rom hacks and other shenanigans on the second channel? Also, this was an awesome rom hack. I've played through it on my everdrive before. 😁
You control the direction of SMB3 powerups by which side of the underneath of the block you hit (if you hit the right half, the power up goes left, and vice versa). Watching Kosmic play SMB3 is what made me realize he wasn't born in the 80s :P
This hack takes me back, makes me remember the games I played, Super Mario 63 was one as well, I found it when trying to look for Mario 64 lol. I didn't get all the star coins though...
@@edman1357 OK so the console slowing down when there are too many sprites for the CPU to handle at full speed is not a problem for gameplay. You're so right. Got it.
I missed this the first time around, was still moving, but this is definitely one of the best rom hacks, and the fact that it's for SMB3 and mashes up 1, 2 and 3, awesome.
oh heck yeah; im glad to finally see 3mix i think i made a comment about it ages ago and i still think its such an insanely cool hack and even though its smb3 rather than smb i always thought itd be real fun to see you play it
@Kosmic: why the star power-up was so short, the mushroom with stars are a check point, regardless if you get a power-up from the check points the star power-up will immediatly end after crossing check point, the same thing happen if you get an actual power-up that change mario power-state even if that power-up was already obtain obviously except the star power-up and 1-up mushroom. This is a Super mario bros.3 mechanic
This was impressive, and every single time I get to see SMB3 again I wonder why Kosmic never thought it was the greatest of all Marios like I always did!
Why can't those 4294967296-in-one bootlegs include great hacks like this instead of a third copy of "Felix the Cat but Felix is poorly redrawn to look like Mario"?
i've played this one a bunch, super impressive rom hack. the amount of stuff they were able to cram into this without breaking the nes's limits is pretty crazy!
I feel like I'm the odd one out, but I actually really like that there was so much stuff in SMB3, like Goomba's Shoe, the arrow blocks, and the like, that only ever appear once. It makes those levels more special and unique I think.
@Kosmic: Because it is NES Super mario bros.3 physic you can't stomp on stomp able enemies underwater that only became a thing in Super mario world, And GBA version of Super mario bros.3 since Super mario bros.3 in Super mario Advance 4 kind of added the Super mario world mechanic. The fire chomp in this game will re-spond if you defeat them they can be defeated by stomp, fire ball, tail swip, the only way to prevent them from re-sponding, keep away from them untill they explode.
I'm not even one minute in and I recognize that romhack! I have left it lying around somewhere on my disk for literal years... now I feel deterred of watching the whole thing out of fear of getting spoiled lol
@Kosmic: I played that Super mario bros.3 rom hack 100% complete however I did not play it on a NES since I did not have one. I did have a NES/FC emulator and I also downloaded the Rom not in a public website not in a web site neither since downloading Rom from web site public or private where not a thing anymore at that time because it is illegal, and I had to download the lunar patch software so I could put the Super mario bros. 3 mix patch into a Rom of Super mario bros.3. Since it is just a patch version the only issue is on the map screen when it scroll it kind of flash, but the entire game works fine.
I'm kinda sad I ended up missing this stream because my mind's blown just watching this highlight video and I know that if I was watching the stream the chat would just be FLOODED with my confused excited reactions lol
God I remember playing this when I was younger. I even uploaded a boss video of it, but since I played it on a 6x slow emulator and sped it up, it sounds all weird lol
Dude, the direction stars and mushrooms go depend on which side of the block you hit, if you hit the left side of the block, it goes right and the other way around.
Lol!!! Wow. So, I was watching this, when, coincidentally, the saxophone playing busker outside of my apartment window somehow decided to play a jazz version of the underground smb1 music!! It was both awesome (the guy is GOOD), and kind of a strange trip- one of those coincidences that seems almost impossibly unlikely, but, well, there it was. Very cool 👍 😎.
I once played a knockoff copy of Mario 64 but for some reason, Mario was replaced with a realistic man, and all of the audio was replaced with Mozart music and bowser was replaced with a poorly modeled jaguar, lethal lava land is also removed from the game, this was at a random flea market and the cartridge was labeled “amaze” and the entire game was in Hindi
the mushrooms don't go the otherway just sometimes it will go the opposite way if you hit the block on the left the shroom goes to the right and hit the block on the right the shroom goes left.
Binge watching these, but I can't remember the confusing hack Kosmic played that had him get four stars, the game would freeze with the star music, and it would restart the level. Anyone know which one this was?
1:28 I think you missed the location of the 1-up by 1 block lol. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's there and was just one more block to your left.
@@Kosmicd12 Yeah, I think the one in 1-1 is the only one that's there, but I'm pretty sure it's there in exactly the next block to your left, to line up with the left side of that bush hill thing (whatever those things are called lol). But yeah the "2-1" one is obviously not there, I knew that already, but I'm pretty sure the 1-1 one still is.
Have you ever considered speed running vs super Mario bros? Considering it a bit of a mashup of smb1 & lost levels it seems it might be right up your alley.
He, i was wondering if you can cover gameplay for the Super Mario World hack known as "Iluminate"? I recently downloaded it, it's pretty tricky. I also just got "Return To Dinosaur Land" and "Tatanga's Return" such great games

Wait what. I never knew that!
No, you control it by the way you face. Facing left, it turns right etc
@mirabilis At 08:18 Mario was facing left and the Star also went left. At 08:36 Mario was facing right and the Star also went right.

I'd have to say smb3 is my favorite nes game
My favorite is Kid Icarus

Simple, smb3 mix is hard to put on a cartridge, it has a save feature (you need a battery in the cartridge for that, it will cost more)
