Hi, I live in Alloa. Waggon Road was built to connect the mines around and underneath Gartmorn Dam to the old harbour at Alloa. It was part of a massive estate improvement programme started by the 6th Earl of Mar (John Erskine) in the late 1690s, and continued by his children. I volunteer with Alloa in Bloom - we put up the pumpkins in the Wagon's End Garden, but if you come back in the spring and summer our planters (which were empty when you filmed) are be autiful - we've won Gold Awards from Scotland in Bloom two years running!
You should have got ice cream from Orlandis! Their ice cream used to be some of the best in Scotland and I'm sure it still is.
Just wanted to add, thank you for a very positive view of Alloa. Like most of Clackmannanshire (and Scotland) we have a lot of social problems but it's a very friendly place. The history and countryside in Clackmannanshire is amazing. Greenfield House was owned by the Patons who were textile manufacturers. Part of the current police station was a section of Kilncraigs Mill. Paton's woollens were world famous and the company started in Clackmannanshire. The Patons and other woollen manufacturers had mills and big houses around the county. It was a sad day when the mills closed in the late nineties.
Greetings from Alloa
Thanks for the vlog Gingerman, just discovered your videos. I was born in Alloa and migrated to Australia in 1966 but still have fond memories of the town and the Ochil Hills especially. It still looks really good although people say it has gone downhill after the closure of all the mills and breweries. BTW , I used to go to school with an Eileen McKee, probably the same girl you mentioned! Would you believe I have never seen the Alloa Tower, it's in the "bottom end" and if you went there you had a good chance of being beaten up!
well, done it was amazing, although the village of Clackmannan, motto is look aboot ye.Clackmannanshire. Had taken the motto,a later date, well.done 👍
Thanks for this, and the shoutout. Alloa's where I was brought up. It's changed a lot since then. Spent much of my childhood in Greenfield Park, which was better before they built a road through it, and eating Orlandi's great ice cream. Sad to see Greenfield House derelict. My mum used to go there to pay our council house rent. Before the council took it over it had been the private house of some of the local nobility.
The building all guarded of I'd greenfield house old council
Eeeek seeing my old work building was a big surprise! Love your videos. Thank you.
When you crossed the road heading towards Allia Tower, if you had continued down that road,Broad St, that would have taken you down to the Forth, with great view up and down the water,Kincardine to the left, and Stirling to the right,The building you kept referring to as the police station is actually the Council HQ building, when in the West end park, instead of coming out that exit if you had of went down to the right it would leat you to the cricket ground and opposite that is bit of a nature walk in what was known as the pleasure grounds,if you had if walked up the path to the top you would have got a great view of Alloa, great for your Drone, cheers,ps I grew up in Alloa

Look About Ye is the Wee County's motto and the tower with the cock on top is Old St Mungo's which used to be the parish church until the early 1800s. When you walked up the Kirkgate to Greenside Cemetery, you passed the oldest house in Alloa. The mansion in the park is Greenfield House which belonged to the Paton family, who were big in the woollen industry. Another brilliant video and the drone shots were superb.
Just recently stumbled across your posts. The place that my mates and I have went for Sunday breakfast several times in Alloa is Tesco. You produce an excellent video and I have subscribed earlier this week. I look forward to viewing more of your posts. When I was younger my hair was ginger and I am aware of the sort of bullying that people with ginger hair have to tolerate.
Old building is Greenfield House. Former HQ of Clackmannanshire Council. Need to cop a swatch of that statues backside next time I visit. Can't say I noticed. 😂😂
After Alloa Tower, you should have turned and went the other direction xD
That`s no a catholic church.
I was Christened in there Feb `63 , by an alcoholic minister, Peter Brodie. lol
