I have lots more research to go, I want to be very well versed in soap making before starting. But my goal is to start making organic, eco sustainable (so no palm oil) pine tar bar soap. Gearing it for people with eczema (i have it) so I want it to be very moisturizing along with a good concentration of pine tar to help reduce need for steroid. Going to keep learning until I feel I have a good grasp on the concept as well as have developed a potential recipe fitting my needs.
Hi Ella, I’m in a loophole, binge watching your amazing videos! I live in the countryside (Italy) and I’d love to make soap using wood ash. We make our own olive oil, and we have wood and ash in abundance 😁 There are some videos on UA-cam, one very interesting about using ash lye to make the paste for liquid soap then keep cooking it and make bars too but they’re quite vague about measurements. I’d love to see you trying this ingredient because you’re so precise and clear when explaining 🙏🏻
It's extremely difficult to make soap precisely with wood ash (I've seen all the videos too). I've never tried it! Would like to experiment with it one day. I could probably figure it out, but would take quite some research :)
Elly, thank you so very much for this video. I was gifted 32 lbs of potash to start my journey into soap making and this has really helped me tremendously.
Just one question, where on this table from soapcalc does it give the amount of water to add at the end of the cook? I see the water to add to the lye is 21.15 ounces.

I've made 2 batches so far of liquid soap using the glycerin HTLS method (takes more than the advertised 30 minutes but it's still very fast) for hand soap, but I'd like to try one that would be good for dishes. I have very hard water and use citric acid in all my bar soaps. I haven't seen anyone address this issue. Thank you for all your tutorials!
Hello Elly. Thank you for this super instructional video. I would like to submit a question, please. All the liquid soaps I made yet are super soft on the skin as hand soap. But none has been effective for dishes that always stay a bit greasy of fatty. Could a dual lye help, or what oils would you recommand ? Thank you very much.
I can't see why a LS would leave a fatty residue, as all the fats are saponified. But perhaps try a recipe with lots of coconut oil for a higher cleansing effect?
Hi Elly Very nice video series I watched that liquid soap making video too. I had a question. Can we make cold process soap with palm oil or does it need heating. I had a recipe of 33% lye concentration, 60% palm oil, 25 % coconut oil and 15% castor oil with cold process soap bar. Bar is just made slightly soft with 5% super fat. Just is curing process. What is your opinion on this.
Hello Elly! I love your videos. they are very helpful. Iam a beginer and I have a question for you, if you please to answer to it, will it change anything if i would have 60% olive oil, 30% castor oil and 10% coconut oil? Then adding 2l of boiling water, then adding slowly about 10liters of tap water, mixing it all. In the end they add 1 cup of chlorine solution for clear soap. What can you say about it?

Could you use Beef Tallow in liquid soap?
Sure can Sue! I made a batch recently with a friend of mine. The smell is not great, but I put lavender EO in mine and it's ok. It doesn't come out perfectly clear, but it's a good soap!
Elly can you pls show us a video of liquid soap without using cooking method
I only use the cooking method Kareemah. I've tried cold process liquid soap method but it never works very well for me. It's too hit and miss for me!
Have you considered making liquid goat milk soap?
I don't use any animal milks in my soap :)

I respect your knowledge of the calculation procedure and I am wanting to know if my theory could be sound. I mean no offense, I am looking for your opinion on what I believe to be correct but I do not have enough experience with the subject and you are the most knowledgeable individual I have ever found.
Do you make shampoo?
