Every time I listen to this song it makes me cry, I don't know why maybe its the sheer brilliance of it
This was my first contact with Lovebites almost 6 years ago.
They’re coming to the US next year.
This is the one that introduced many of us to this most incredible band. I can listen to Shadowmaker all day long. Miho is so metal. Favourite live version for me is Wacken because they were so hungry. They totally won over the crowd. The sound is not as good but the performance is killer!!

This one was my introduction to lovebites back in mid 2019..hope i found them 2 years earlier..but glad to know them and i am a fan...
first time i thought LOVEBITES were just gonna be like the other female band..
this song was first time i heard and they got slap...oh, not slap, but it's hook in my face...
that intro with that riffs, double kick and i saw Midori and Miho headbang...and then, bridge before those crazy solos ( played by ladies? what? )...and that last part for Asami's high note...( damn!!! )

That intense, badass riffs, power beat, melodic vocal, tight musicianship/show, twin guitar shreds were Lovebites identity. Just prepare for jaw dropping, face melting, goosebump feels to come..hahaha 👍🤘

Being disbelieving or overwhelmed is a usual reaction, if it come to Lovebites. I got to know Lovebites about 6 weeks ago, I already listened to all of their studio recordings (blown away), and saw most of their live videos (jaw-dropping). This band trespasses all limits of "the usual", of any expectations. It is just phenomenal.
Out of sheer awe, I would like to mention, that the younger guitarist (Miyako) is a _studied pianist_ , whereas Midori (the other guitarist) is a _studied guitarist_ . Often enough, I think, that they would like to dare _even more_ "crazy" things, but that they just do not want to overwhelm their listeners. 😁
But in one song (I unfortunately do not remember its title right now), Miyako actually plays _2 instruments at the same time_ : a keyboard and a guitar. Meaning, that they actually _are_ absolutely _insane ladies_ , in the nice way of course. 😉
Never worry, by the way, whether the pace is kept in any Lovebites song. "Ms. Always Happily Smiling Metronome" (a.k.a. drummer Haruna) is in control. She never loses any key, any beat, any (change of) tempo, in any song or duration of some gig or live show. Rumors have it, that all reliable metronomes are calibrated by the beat of her drumset. 😂 Being a leisure-time drummer myself, Haruna therefore is my personal heroine, basically. 🤩

I saw this video in December of 2017 and was completely blown away. A couple weeks later, I had the pleasure of meeting Miyako at NAMM and that sealed the deal, I'm a fan for life.

@danw6048 Miyako's friend Itsuka recorded that with a really bad phone. In her defense though, it is hard to record anything in that hall because of the fact that there's sound coming from every direction. Itsuka also documented the entire trip for Miyako.
@@guitarzen5999 If I remember correctly, Itsuka was at NAMM for at least 4 straight years (2017-2020) and filmed Miyako both years that Miyako was there. I don't mind the subpar sound because it is always enjoyable watching Miyako play. I wonder how many of those watching her at NAMM in 2018 had any idea who they were watching.
@danw6048 Nobody did and it took me a minute to figure out who it was. There's no sign that said Miyako from Lovebites, we all have to wear badges with our names and who we're with, hers said Miyako/Artist. Itsuka was very helpful translating for me since she speaks excellent English.

Lovebites is one of the best bands in the world, hands down right now. Their stuff is fast, furious and a technical marvel.
this was my first contact with them a long time ago (video with the AD). instantly have been bitten. although solos and harmonie solos and the rhyrhmsection are insanely good, I was absolutely mesmerized by asami.
the guitars have so much more lower end in these early pieces. to me they sound more aggressive and so awesome

Great reaction! I recommended the MV and will do so always, so I'll take the heat for that. This is the first footage I saw of them; still speechless a couple years later. The tones of the harmonized solos is F unreal. This video is absolutely hypnotizing to me. Why, I'm not sure but I'm loving it! Keep it going and hope to see more. 🤘
I would also suggest the MV for this song for a first listen. It‘s great for taking a look on the early LOVEBITES. Everybody is free to dive into the, I believe 8 different, live versions afterwards to follow the progression of their performance level …

One of Miyako’s beauties. She is a great composer. My favorite bandmember of my favorite band. Probably my all time favorite musician. Great guitarist and amazing pianist. Did read they come to the US next year. They have to come to Europe. Need to see them live. Thanks for this reaction.

This music video was uploaded around the same time as the release of their first full-length album, AWAKENING FROM ABYSS, and was inserted to interrupt the performance to announce the album release date and live tour dates. They removed the parts that were no longer needed and re-uploaded it two years ago.
In fact, when this video was shot, LOVEBITES had been active for only one year, and MI-YA, who was a support guitarist, had just become a full member as MIYAKO, so it was still a period of trial and error.
Great reaction. This is the moment when you obsessed by Lovebites when you hear this piece, especially old diehard Wolfpack were.

never have i heard metal as melodic as the music from the beautiful ladies of LOVEBITES. you can sing along with just about every song they have as opposed to some of the other bands. try that with the screaming and growling groups - very hard to do
Overwhelming, but in a good way.
Still trying to compute what I've just heard. That wasn't just metal, that was Tungsten.
Shadowmaker is even better live. Asami hits two more screams in live performace, and the rest of them add some certain little things too that make this song even more badass. Who can shred better than M & M? These two are best duo in metal music-nobody can tell me that anyone can do it better.

You need to check this live version from their 2021 concert after covid, maybe their best performance of this song, and Asami's vocals over the years are getting better and better

A little late here, but here's a 'Fun Fact'. This was their SECOND MV, from the fall of 2017, a little over a year after the band formed, and about a month after Miyako finally Committed to the Band and went from 'support guitar Mi-Ya' to Lovebites Member, Miyako.

These are metal queens, seriously. It took a lot to knock off my favorite band of 40 years, Iron Maiden, but these talented rocking ladies have done it
I requested the music video, but the music video or live are both equally great. I don't know another band that does such a great job at guitar harmonies as Midori and Miyako (The team of M&M) Yes I know many bands that do them, just not this good and as frequent. No One Hit Wonders from this band. In fact, there isn't a One Hit Dud in their catalog. Every one of their songs is just a different level of epic. I can say with almost 100% certainty that there is no other band in the history of metal that has a better collection of riffs across their catalog.
I love Lovebites, but that's a huge statement. Especially when you compare them to bands that have been aroumd for decades. But they certainly know how to write some fantastic riffs.
@@cepho8349 I'm 63, been listening to metal since 1971 (Zeppelin), so I say that growing up with all of the greats of the past like Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, all the 80's bands from the ground floor, etc etc.

They announce that they will be in the States next year. Only date so far is September 5th, 2023 in Atlanta. Hopefully more announcements on other shows will be coming.

Also, if you love this video, they somehow make this song better each concert they perform without changing the song. Their stage performance gets better with this song. I believe I read somewhere that this song is a band favorite.

This is one Lovebites MV where watching a live version is just a coin toss. Miyako-san has admitted to having been influenced by, amongst many others, Ritchie Blackmore. Find and play (even better, react to) “Gates of Babylon” by Rainbow…which was also covered by Yngwie Malmsteen. Although not identical, the opening riff that you replayed is, very, very similar to the main riff in the Rainbow song, only much faster. It is, so I believe, a pattern known as “Phrygian Dominant” (I think!). It is thought to be of Greek origin, but basically the term “Middle Eastern” best describes it.
Before anyone crushes me I have zero musical ability or knowledge…I’m relating what I’ve read since “Judgement Day” the single was released, because it is used there too, just before the quad solos and just before Asami-san’s ascending belts at the end.
Because it rang a bell with me the first time I heard it, I knew I’d found a band that I would enjoy listening to. Bear in mind that I discovered Lovebites on December 20th 2020 and had heard their entire catalogue to that point before Xmas Day.
I’ve now seen it played live twice, and in the next four weeks will hear it live two more times (unless it’s rotated out of the tour set list)
If I had £1 for every time I have heard the phrase “this is my favourite” this trip (seeing as many of the JD tour as I realistically could) would be paid for. And I’d be staying in 4 star rather than capsule hotels. Not that I’m complaining.
With Lovebites (or Band-Maid or Nightwish or The Warning or...), the answer is always "live". :)
