    Background separation and far-side key light are the two things every filmmaker should learn for filming interviews. They make a maaassive diference. Great tips and a great video as always!

    Good video ,shooting into a corner also helps to create depth , and flat wall will mostly not be good for this , unless its a style you are going for , shot gun is best pointed towards the chest , not exactly at the mouth .

    This was an awesome video! For a budget of $500-1000, what lens would you recommend to for THIS style of interview shooting? I'm super new to this

      I love the 50mm sigma art you can probably get it used for like $400

      @@Alexzarfatifilms Sorry for another noobie question, but is it this one: SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8? I saw a few on eBay that had the word ART, but this one didn't. Just wanted to confirm this was the right one. Thanks!

      @@dankim864 no I was talking about the 50 mm prime. I’m not sure how that particular zoom lens looks so I can’t vouch for it but definitely look into the sigma art 50 mm prime. I have the full frame version and it’s awesome.

This is the one I found: Sigma Art Prime 50mm F/1.4 HSM DG Lens (for SONY E) (53786749). I'm pretty sure this is correct, but just wanted to confirm. Thanks again brother for everything!

    But this “law” is not always true. It depends on the protagonist and the location. For example, I once interviewed the director of an art museum. And it seemed important to me that I could still see the paintings in the background. So I reduced the bokeh a lot. Looked much better. Because the director should be shown with the environment for which he is responsible.
