If you end up replacing them, the pistons and crankshaft for a WD-45 will fit in the WD engine, providing most of the power of a WD-45 (many WD were field upgraded this way). The other differences were mostly options on the WD that were standard on the WD-45, and I see you have a snap-coupler, which is probably the most important of those.

The good think about the wiring on this tractor - it's not complicated. Be sure to replace the light wiring while you are at it also.
