I personally don't see a tree in 30 mile radius of this farm...nor do i see so much as a rabbit or any small animal! Looks to me like a desert!!!! This is just exactly what I am talking about when I say animals have no where to hind from hunting of humans!!! It just keeps getting worse as farmers get greedier and greedier!!!! Tell me Laura where does this corn and soybeans go to???? China!!!! Or just in general overseas!!!! You destroy all of our wildlife refuge for Chinese that actually doesn't give a dam about Americans!!!! So what's next? 10 thousand more acres of forests and animal habitats!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!! But greed has your mind under it's control!!!! Your UA-cam channel has a lot of animal lovers wondering what kind of people doesn't give a dam about their environment and the animals that live there in!!!

I remember losing my combine virginity in 1984! To say I was crapping myself was an understatement …
Much smaller & far more basic than your luxury pad, I'd bought a 1979 MF525 Super2, with a 10ft cut, and the first hurdle was getting it into the field as there was only 6" to spare, even after taking the gate off its hinges! The MF 10ft cut had an overall width of 11ft 6 inches, and the gap was 12ft less the crucks for the gate, and it was one of 2 angled field gates at the top of a farm track!!
When I took the farm on, I'd just finished Agricultural College, but it hadn't been run as a working farm since my Gran retired 20yrs before, but she'd run it as a dairy, so none of the fields were arable equipment-proof! 😂 My father, a baker by trade, had done some care & maintenance work after having heart problems a few years before, but he had died suddenly in 1980, he was 55 (Gran, his mother in law, died 4 months after Dad!) and I was 19, and mum had finally had her MS diagnosis after 15yrs tests and theories! All in all, not a great start for my first year in farming!
I was still crapping myself at the controls of the combine, and absolutely NO tech to rely on, or a cab either for that matter! 😂😂 There was far too many thresher settings to get right, and even driving as slow as possible seemed like I was going wayyy too fast!
Laura, I only had 10 feet to keep an eye on, and no unloading on the move, how on earth did you manage a 30ft cut, screens everywhere, and that grain cart!! My brain was hurting like hell, but you just smile through as you film everything!!

I agree 💯 with you! The flag is symbol of those that fight daily for our freedom. Had a guy this weekend that had 22 years in the Navy telling me it was nothing but a piece of cloth. He said he didn’t serve for the flag and couldn’t get out of him what he served for in the Navy. Made me angry and I walked off before I said something wrong. We we’re at a shooting match at a gun range. How does he think he can go to an open gun range and shoot his guns. Much less own and be able to carry a gun without that “Flag”. I fly two on my gun cart red, white and blue, plus a darker blue line flag for Law Enforcement. Keep flying the flag!

Good job Laura! Yes,wasn’t a surprise to see you in a flashback, running the combine was my favorite when I was farming. Much less electronics than you deal with. Your family is greatly appreciated for doing what you do! A BIG HUG and THANK YOU !!!

So interesting learning about the daily life on the farm. Your excitement on running the combine is so funny. Cute as a bug in a rug :) What that in the rug, Laura bug! Ha. Grant and you are really lucky to be able to share this adventure together.

YES...it is a glass insulator, not especially for electricity but came about in the days of telegraph lines, used for early to mid 20th century phone lines as well. Some are very rare and can be worth a bundle, I use to collect them, many different makers, colors, etc. Part of Americana glass history. LAURA does a great job!

Beautiful landscape you have out there with the sunset. Must be very satisfying to get that work done without any major issues. Your parents must be very proud of how much you have learned and are keeping the family business going. Much luck and best wishes to you and your family! These videos are so great to see how farming is done in the modern age.

Enjoyed seeing the nervousness and then the joy of unloading into the ‘auger cart’. The enthusiasm you have for all your work is a pleasure to watch. Grant’s segments are also very interesting and educational on some things that you might not see otherwise. Praying for Grandpa.

Grant, that was an electrical insulator from a power pole. Laura, the younger you sounded more confident in the combine than the present day version!😂😂 I am sure having your Dad in the combine didn’t hurt back then!

At 8:14.. That's an old Telephone Insulator. It's very old. It's what old Telephone 'Open Wires' were attached to on a Telephone Pole. That one is broken up pretty bad so it has no value. It's glass, right? I'm a retired Telephone Engineer and have seen thousands of those throughout my career. I even had quite a collection of different colors and styles.

Good comment. Many are saying it's a power line insulator, but it wouldn't have had sufficient flashover resistance for that service.

@@vk2ig It's a Telephone, Open Wire, Insulator. Open Wire was the first Wiring that Telephone used. It was non-insulated, protected. I've seen and owned hundreds over the years, since 1973. I'm a retired Telephone employee. I know the difference. Did you watch that video I attached in the previous thread? This was about the best video I could find on UA-cam. Later.

I find your programming absolutely fascinating. Spent my entire life working outdoors as a U.S. National Park Ranger who married a farmer's daughter. Learning more about farming and where our food supply comes from watching your vlogs than I ever could have expected. Love your work ethic and the values you, Grant and your extended family convey. Also love the American flag flying over your machinery. Your positive attitude, wonderful smile and great educational content keep me coming back. Thank you so much for sharing and for all you do to support America. Stay safe, happy and enjoy life.
