Excellent review. What would build even more confidence for me is if you informed us if you paid for the sample or were given it. Also, if the manufacturer is reviewing the content before published.
It just lets us the viewer put your opinions in context. Thanks!

Durability looks like it would be the main 'con'. If friction is removing some of the plastic on every swing, wear patches won't take long to develop.

Thank you for reviewing these synthetic mats, I injured my shoulder by hitting too many range balls off a crappy mat! A little known golf product, but one that deserves it's own series of reviews IMO. Thanks again, if you decide to do a testing series on mats, that'd be great!

I don't understand why they place the tee holes in the center of the mat's. Most of us don't have the ball directly in the middle of our stances, but toward our front foot. Why not have the tee holes in the mat toward the front of the mat from the factory? I drilled out a hole and made it much nicer!! Enjoying your reviews and videos, just getting into them.

It leaves a mark on the sole of the irons too, but does come right off so no biggie. I think the shedding you experienced will slow down over time. Seems like a good mat. I bought a RELILAC for $75 six months ago and I've been really happy with it. I've never gotten any residual crud on my clubs. It would be difficult to justify the almost 300 difference.

I say this as a Canadian, who previously did a lot of indoor winter practice - never hit your short irons and wedges, besides a quick warmup, off of mats - it will destroy your game when you return to real grass - you will quickly develop a lazy picking style for your short irons off mats, that will result in brutal blades and chunks off real grass when spring returns. My rule of thumb now is only 6/5/4 irons to work on your swing mechanics, 3-woods off the matt, and tee'd-up Drivers.

I have a 5x4 mat that I use off of a cement floor in my extra garage, and it cost about half of what the monster mat costs. My mat has been in use for over a year, and there is virtually no sign of wear. I think the Monster Mat is overpriced, and my biggest concern is the fibers coming off. Only time will tell of course, but I fear that the Monster Mat will wear faster than my mat has. I get a little green residue if I hit a lot of balls with one club, but not any fibers, all the way back to when I bought it. I have hit at least 1000 shots off the mat, and no visible wear, and I haven't rotated it.
