I just re-watched this interview for like the fourth or fifth time. I only wish this interview was another hour or so longer. There is simply not enough Pat Bergeson on the Internet! (I just bought his Mel Bay dvd... Like 37mins ago.) Also, as a mostly clean, single-coil player myself, this interview introduced me to your Clean Boost and your updated H2O. Love the what that Clean Boost does!
The Mel Bay DVD is great, and thank you for the kind words. Pat dials in a great sound using the H2O and Clean boost. He leaves the Clean Boost on all the time to fatten up his tone. Zac
Pat is so low key, despite his huge talent I didn't know him until that five player session with Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Guthrie Trap, and Brian Cotton, but I watch every video of him performing now.
What an honor to be asked by Chet himself to come to Nashville to record with him!! When it comes to Chet using pedals that is a bit of a sore spot with me. Chet's playing was so technically brilliant , melodic and PURE that in my humble little opinion Chet didn't NEED to spice up his sound with effects pedals. Especially that obnoxious sounding distortion which has this magical ability to make the most expensive custom shop guitar sound like absolute garbage. I know Chet was trying to sound modern and hip but........ Well Pat didn't receive a CGP but he certainly should have so I will nominate him for a CNP (Certified Nashville Picker) right here and now. Tremendous player.
I saw Pat and Richard Smith (just the two of them) at the old Canal Street Tavern in Dayton, and told them after the show they just sent me to guitar heaven…which was true. He was playing an old Epi archtop and Richard the usual nylon string. Just great players and seemed nice guys, although didn’t want to pester them on a tiring road trip. They also played the same club with the Hot Club of Nashville (no vocals) and just phenomenal Django playing. Pat’s one of those players that can really emotionally hit you : )
Really nice playing, by a hyper- versatile lyrical player. Another great informative interview. However, listening to some of Pat's delay/vibrato pedal sounds make me feel ill (seriously). Oh well, different strokes for different folks, and all that. He is real pro player nonetheless.

I love those stories too. Thank you for watching. Zac
Every interview I learn more about how important Chet Atkins was to the foundation of Nashville and its music.. great music journalism. ...
Chet continues to be one of the most influential guitarists in the world. His importance cannot really be overstated. Zac
ive seen and heard just about em all,,,Chet is the greatest of all time.
I bought a clean boost because of this video..I never turn it off..with my teles AND archtop guitars..

They are wonderful players that everyone should catch whenever they are around.
What a brilliant interview and the playing was great
Pat is one of the best in town. Zac
Very nice!
+Randy Davis Thank you. Pat is a great player, and friend to Truetone
Loving this series of programs- Thank you. Can you guys invest in some lighting for the show? A little dark production value. Cheers!
Thank you. This was one of the first episodes we filmed. Do you like the lighting better in our Reggie Young, or Brent Mason episodes? Zac
I love the idea of Chet plugging into a Rat, that just makes my day.
Do you ever plug that Dr Z rx, Zack? That's prob my favorite Z, such a sleeper
It is my favorite Z amp. We do use it, have just not had a guest use it.
love that neck pickup! Can anyone recommend one that sounds similar?
That is an APC neck pickup in that guitar. Try a Fender twisted Tele.
***** like a t300n?
Yes!
what are the first two pedals that he demonstrates?
+WJ Cutright In the intro? That is the Custom Shop Overdrive, Truetone clean boost, and echo from the H2O.
Truetone what is or where can I find the custom shop overdrive? Is that true tone brand?
It was VS branded and is no longer in production. You can find them used on Ebay or Reverb. Zac

Not everyone likes warbling guitar tones. Zac
Love his playing! That guitar and rig weren't perfect for him!
