A couple of tips for you. There are no drips at the lip of the vase if you use a popsicle stick to swipe while the vase is drying. Do it about 3 times (10-15 minutes apart) and you are good to go. Also, when storing your clear spray paint, turn the can upside down, covered, to store. No more clogged nozzles!
@@marlenegould9954 absolutely! Because the inside is still glass, it’s totally waterproof. I would only gently hand wash the vase, rather than a long soak or in the dishwasher, but I have a vase that I’ve been using successfully for a few years!
Excellent video- thank you! I've had a couple of vases sitting around to paint and finish, concerned about using resin. Thanks to you I can follow your steps! Beautiful vase. ❤
Great tips - Thanks much! I was dreading thought of working with resin just to clear coat & seal painted glass vase ~ so glad to know a couple coats of gloss spray will do the trick just fine. (Gotta' love Rust-Oleum! All good stuff!) Lovely vase... Don't know where you got plastic circle for bottom, but figure I will try to cut 1 out from a not-recyclable bakery cookies container. I try to reuse/repurpose anything can't recycle, but it's messy & takes room to store the stuff while waiting for way to reuse them. Sure does make me more aware how much plastic is NOT recyclable in my community!😒 Since you have bottle of bubbles handy (I'm usually only person I know with those in hand), you may already know how great Yoplait containers are to reuse for children's painting (& bubbles) containers that do not tip over easily.
I’m so glad it was helpful! I got the plastic circles on Amazon, but certainly you could cut your own. I’ve done that for some smaller vases with very narrow bottoms.
You could also use the plastic disc to protect the top of your countertop or wooden furniture piece instead of a felt pad. Great idea, and you can still see the paint design. 😊❤
Thank you for this video and beautiful vase. Can the paint be peeled off once it’s sealed? And what about washing them, does the paint come off when washing?
Anna I love your videos, you are incredibly talented! Thank you for sharing. I just have one question, is the vase water resistant after sealing it like this ?
Thanks so much! It really is doable 😃 I buy them on Amazon. Some have tabs, some don’t. Just search for “clear plastic circles 3 inch” or whatever size you need, and you should find some!
Anna, a couple of questions or more, lol. Enjoy watching your video and have learned allot. How long do you need to let your vases or canvases dry before sealing them. Where do you get the round base cover? Do you use the spray also on your canvas to seal them?
I’m glad it’s been helpful! I wait at least a week to let the paint cure, but 2-3 weeks is better before spraying. I buy the plastic circles on Amazon. For my paintings I generally use liquitex basics gloss varnish, and I have a video in my tips and tricks playlist!
You don’t have to, but I’ve found that a vase will stick to a smooth surface over time. You could put adhesive felt on the bottom, but I get my plastic discs from Amazon.
Would this lovely vase be dishwasher safe? Or would a dishwasher wash off the varnish and paint? Even if handwashing, how does it stand up to hot soapy sudsy water for cleaning?
I would not recommend putting this in the dishwasher! When I wash it by hand I try to have it submerged for only a few seconds, which hasn’t been an issue. But you wouldn’t want to soak it or scrub it.
Where do you get your vases and the acrylic disks that you use for the bottom? Do you have those dimensions planned in advance? It seems like the disk might’ve been a tiny bit smaller than the bottom but I don’t think that would have been noticeable to most people. I also wonder if you sign your work. Of course this isn’t a painting but it is an unique piece of art. I think it would actually add more value if it had a small signature at the bottom edge. I wouldn’t put it on the vinyl surface because that can probably be removed. A signature definitely adds value to your work.
So far I have bought inexpensive vases from Walmart or a dollar store. The plastic discs I get from Amazon! They come in a number of sizes, and yes this was slightly smaller than ideal, but not bad. I have thought about signing the bottom of my vases before sealing the vase, just have never done it yet!

Hi Noreen,
The way my vases sit on the cups, there isn’t space to swipe the dripping paint. I don’t mind having to trim them 😊
Noreen, I love your idea about the popsicle sticks. It works great because I do not like the drips on my vases.
10:33 Where do you purchase the plastic disc?
I think I prefer Anna’s method for drips. Running a popsicles stick may distort the pattern at the top of the vase.
✌️💜😊
How durable does the clear spray keep on the vase? Can you put water and flowers into it and clean it (not scrubbing of course)?
Beautiful work! Another tip for the bottom (instead of the plastic circle) apply felt protectors:)
Thanks! Yes that would work well but I love seeing the beautiful bottom of the vase too 😊
@@AnnaBlountArt What about those little round clear rubber cabinet stoppers added to the rim of the bottom
@@marlenegould9954 yes, those would probably work well!

Thank you for this video and beautiful vase. Can the paint be peeled off once it’s sealed? And what about washing them, does the paint come off when washing?
The paint can peel if you’re not careful, so I recommend a gentle hand wash only. Mine have held up pretty well!

Thanks so much! The vase-PAINTING video is coming in about an hour if you want to see how I did it!
Anna I love your videos, you are incredibly talented! Thank you for sharing. I just have one question, is the vase water resistant after sealing it like this ?
Thank you! Yes it is water resistant. I’d still recommend washing it as gently/quickly as possible, but there’s no issue with it holding water.
Thank you for this tip about the plastic circle. I tried gluing metallic feet to my vase with disastrous results. Your tip will correct that problem.
You’re welcome!
Very helpful video. Can this vase be washed with no problem?
I find that a quick, gentle hand wash is no problem! I wouldn’t recommend scrubbing hard or putting it in a dishwasher, though.

Can you use the Rust Oleum Gloss Clear on tiles?
You can put it on tiles, but it doesn’t make a hard enough finish for coasters. I’ve tried…
hi ,nice work but could i also sealed it with glossy modpodge
Possibly! I haven’t tested that. It might leave brush strokes from where you apply it.
Thank you for this information. I haven't gotten into resin and was wondering how it could be done. Is that a varnish?
It’s a clear gloss spray paint finish.
Thank you
