  • In this video I compare some of the most popular gear straps including the Tethrd HYS Strap, Genesis 3D Printing Gear Hanger System, HME Accessory Hook Belt, and a Daisy Chain with a Nite Ize Cam Jam. These range in price from $8 to $50, so there's one for every budget and preference. As a disclaimer I am on G3D’s Field Staff, however I am not under any obligation to push products I don’t believe in. I truly think their hanger serves my purposes the best. *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases listed below.

    I use the Tethrd HYS strap and I love it. I don't leave my nighteyes and bow hook on the strap so it's not bulky. It also leaves my options open to locate things on the strap where I want according to the tree and location I'm hunting. It works very well for saddle hunting .

      No doubt. It's all personal preference at the end of the day, even without the hangers, it didn't pack up as compactly as what I was looking for.

      Hey man! I promise you I didn't twist Spencer’s arm to make sure he promotes our gear over others. I have never asked any of my field staffers to do video reviews. When I choose Spencer as one of our field staffers, it was first due to his personality and second because of his experience/knowledge in the mobile hunting scene. I hope this helps, man! If Spencer chooses another gear hanger, I won’t drop him. I would, though, probably take note and make our Gear Hanging system work even better for him and others.

    I have the hme strap and I replaced the cam buckle with a g hook and it works awesome. I have my quiver set back far enough that I can hang the bow from the limb. Very secure and easy.

      @@SaddleHunter I cut the cam buckle off which leaves a loop on that end and then thread the tag end of the strap through the adjustable part of the g hook and then hook the g hook onto the loop that the cam buckle was previously attached with. Hope that makes sense haha.

    So what I did is I made my own deal which I used the amsteel with the cam jam but instead of daisy chain style I made 5 continuous loops of orange amsteel and attached them with the prussic knot so you can move them anywhere around the tree you need and I have one that hangs down for my pack and since it’s a prussic knot it bites in real good when you add the weight of the pack on one of the continuous loops. The cam jam makes it easy to attach to any tree.

    Another great video. I watch all your videos but there is one video that you still need to do! Your actual setup that you went with 2020 and your planned 2021 setup! You reviewed a lot of tools and different products, which offer a lot of options for people. Thank to you I settled on the Recon which I love, so thank you for that. So now stop with the suspense and tell us what you finally settled on at the moment.

    Cam jam with addition of a taut like hitch allows the rope to tighten around tree. Then cam jam allows extra tension to pull the rope snug.

      @buck_yeah 3 роки тому

      Using that extra hitch you can also use the tag/tail end in front as a backup/additional tether. I do this, but hook it straight onto my saddle’s belt. Redundancy never hurts! Love the clear explanations in your videos!

  • @Rooster_king

    I just use my linemans belt and tighten it to the tree with a short bungee ball using a prussik hitch. I use a bow hook that has built in gear ties. The pack fastens to the caribiner on the linemans belt. I've tried all these other methods and the linemans belt is the easiest and lightest since you've already got it. Once you use it, you realize how unnecessary these other straps are.

    So I found those HME straps on Amazon last year for like $3 so I ordered 4 and I took the hooks off of one of them and combined it on 1 strap, for a total of 6 hooks on the strap. Works great but might switch to HYS strap due to the cam buckle that I don’t love.

    I have the HME and a Latitude Outdoors strap. I like both to be honest, but I like the latitude for the adjustable down strap where I can hang my bag at different heights and even use it (my bag) as a knee rest for saddle hunting. I am thinking of switching to the Tethyrd though as I like the Molle loop options better. I use the HME now on my fixed lock-on stands now and they still work great.

    Id be concerned with longevity or those 3d printed hooks. I looked on the website and it doesnt seem they want to say what material they use for the 3d printing. That normally means they use the cheap PLA. Be aware PLA is very brittle and can fail in cold temps. Could lead to a bow taking a 20'+ drop.

    The daisy chain makes it hard to get hooks in especially when it’s attached to the tree so if you do daisy chain style make your loops big but the continuous loops attached with the prussic knot is by far the best way if you go that style.

    I have the HME and it's a great budget option but that buckle is just awful. The G3D looks and operates the same as the HME but the buckle is improved.
    I prefer the HYS or a daisy chain variant of it without the CamJam. The reason is because after you've tightened the G3D or HME to the tree and discover your hook placement isnt ideal, it's a complete pain to move the hooks around. Especially after your gear has been hung. Therefore, you're left with loosening the buckle with all the weight of your gear still on the hooks and trying to juggle keeping the strap tight with one hand while moving the one misplaced hook with the other. It's a mess.
    The price point makes it attractive but the functionality is lacking.
