    Belinda comes off real well here, articulate, honest and engaging, this despite Joy's seemingly taking delight in Belinda's struggles. Jane is my favorite, but Belinda is pretty impressive, too.

      Loved Belinda in the later eighties when she went solo never knew much about the go go's as they never really broke Europe I'm Irish but I remember my sister mentioned something about her been with them at one time and I kind of remembered it at the time probably MTV.
      Never stopped listening to belinda's stuff from back then but didn't know much about her but knew she was a bit wild and done drugs and all that.
      But the one thing that strikes me now about her is she's such a nice ordanry person none of the usual celebrity posing probably why she's still so beautiful.

I WILL NEVER STOP LISTENING TO THEM. I REALLY WISH BELINDA WOULD HAVE MORE ALBUMS. I THINK AS LONG AS BELINDA IS SINGING IT..... ITS A SMASH HIT. GO FOR IT, DONT HESITATE. Belinda truly has grown as a person and that is wonderful to see. At the beginning, lots of glory with the music success and lots of challenges with drugs etc. And as we have seen with drugs with other rock stars, it can take you out completely, but Belinda has come through all of that, and we all are the better for it. Rock On Belinda!

    It's never helpful to blame our parents for our irresponsible behavior. I was spanked and what that taught me was self control and that there are in fact consequences for bad choices. When drugs were offered to me, I said, no thanks.
    There was a generation of children who were spanked and they didn't bring guns to school, and they didn't do alot of things the undisciplined children of this generation do.

      There's nothing wrong with corporal punishment by parents but Belinda's parents separated when she was very young and rightly or wrongly she felt abandoned by her father.

    It was done back then. I am 48. We got beatings, smacks, slaps, sticks, wooden spoons, pieces of wood AND YES WHIPPINGS WITH THE BELT. We got grounded. We had to clean and do dishes, take the garbage out every Friday. Mow the lawn once a week, every week in the summer. Plant/take care of the garden. Split wood in summer for use in winter. Shovel snow in winter. Hang out clothes on line all year round even when it was minus 25 outside in winter and the clothes would be frozen to the line...etc etc etc etc. I look back and think, it may have been extreme at times, but now the extreme is parents make their kids DO NOTHING AT ALL..I have friends whose kids do nothing, not even clean the table or do dishes after a meal. Kids are spoiled, lazy and disrespectul in the new era. I say bring the belt back..some kids need a good belt across their ass.

    • @beachstreet101

    @alm.5192 8 років тому +3

    @Nominay Oh please, spare me the BS. Their songs are equally good as other (late) 70s/early 80s pop-rock/new wave bands. But since they are an "all female" band some people ALWAYS try to dismiss their talent and creative work. The Cure, Culture Club or INXS have equally "simple" (as you like to call them) "chord structures" and when you read comments about them, people always praise them and their "legacy". Same with Jon Bon Jovi, a band that has been doing the same type of music during the last 32 years.

    • @alm.5192
      @alm.5192 8 років тому +2

      So, say whatever you want, but The Go-Go's left a great legacy in the modern music history. Albums like 'Beauty And The Beat' still sound fresh, like the first day it came out. And that's why, still nowadays, they have a fanbase formed by people that are in their 20s, 30s, 40s+.

    The GoGo's documentary is great. It's such a shame that bands aren't handled better once they achieve fame. Had they been given more time to absorb being on top, they would've lasted longer. But the idiot business machine just wants to squeeze as much money out of them as possible. Belinda and Gina got paid the least because they didn't write the songs, but during live shows night after night, the singer and drummer work the hardest! It should've been divvied up equally, imho.

  • @jennifercbell517
    @jennifercbell517 7 років тому +4

    Belinda needs to tell the truth about our Dad. He worked two jobs to support them. He was not a traveling salesman. He did not abandon them. Her own grandfather told her the truth back in 2001. Yet she still mocks him. Harold Earl Carlisle was an amazing man. I guess she finally got what she wanted. He's gone now.

      What Belinda and thousands of celebrities like her done was very fool hardy but been young and on the Crest of a wave in an industry which openly encouraged drug taking anyone in the same position could easily fall as I said before Belinda was one of the lucky ones witney Houston was one of the people who payed the ultimate price George best probably the best footballer in the world was another he died of liver failure age 59 George had great charm in the 70's early 80's but cut has career short due to drinking and gambling he tells the story of having miss England lieing on his bed with £10,000 scattered around the bed in a Dublin hotel in about 1974 the porter comes in to give them their dinner looks around and says where did it all go wrong George he told many great stories of his escapades and was very witty but by the 90' he just sounded like a pathetic has been who left football just when he was reaching his peek and was rehashing old stories for the price of a drink or talking to old fans hoping they'd buy him one so goes the rise and fall of a very talented intelligent man who could have a conversation with anyone. Thanks for all the great music you and The Go Go’s have put out over the years Belinda. Love your voice! You look great! See how easy that was

    Yuk. What a horrible delving woman. Why doesn't she air her own dirty laundry? Belinda on the other hand comes across as very classy.

    Joy Behar is not the best of interviewers, and she doesn't exactly come out as an objective person on "The View".

    YOU HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR A VERY LONG TIME, FOR SOMEBODY FAMOUS! LOOK AT JOHNNY DEPP AND AMBER HEARD, WHO EVEN FUNISHED RUINED BY HER FORMER HUSBAND! SOMETIMES, IT SEEMS THAT MARRIAGES BETWEEN FAMOUS PEOPLE IS A KIND OF COMMERCE, OR A WSY TO ADVERTISE THEM, AND TO BE ALWAYS, EVEN IN THE PRIVATE SPHERE, IN THE MEDIAS! IT IS NOT YOUR CASE, AND I AM GLAD THAT YOU HAVE A SON.

    Belinda isn't a rock and roll icon. I wouldn't compare her to Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Tina Turner, or Madonna, and I don't even like her. The Go Gos is the first female band, but if your going to applaud and call Belinda an icon, call the rest of The Go Gos icons, people just pay attention to the lead singer, not the women in the background playing the music and writing the songs.
    I have to admit Belinda and The Go Gos were well shaped women, not fat. Belinda was beautiful and yes shapely. Now she nipped and tucked, let plastic surgery mess her up. People can't leave well enough alone. She was naturally pretty, your gonna age but you can still be pretty but nothing looks worse than aging with bad plastic surgery.
    And as far as the sex, drugs, rock n roll mentality, most people who did drugs start out doing it for fun than they find their doing it because of inner pain.

      She's pretty iconic with the Go-Go's and then massive success with Heaven on Earth specifically. She was super popular for a long while.

    The money has run out for the music industry with downloading. I guess these old musicians are no longer getting the kind of royalties they once did, so they have to write books to make money. LOL. She looks great.

      That's not why. As they grow older they become more settled and have a story to tell about their glory days and what it was like. There's an audience for that.

      I don’t think she needs the money. She still tours quite a bit and makes a decent living, plus her husband, being the son of the famous actor, James Mason was left a nice sum of money from his estate.

    My dad beat me with a belt when I was a kid. More accepted back them. One day, in high school, he came into my bedroom and started strapping me with a belt because I didn't go to school that day. I grabbed the belt from him and started hitting him with it! l What happened after that is a blank and I think I blocked it out. Anyway, I know where Belinda is coming from. In high school, a friend and I managed to scrape up money for cocaine. I did it a couple more times in the following couple of years and really loved it. More than grass or booze. It really gives you this great feeling that is hard to describe. But, cocaine is expensive and that is why I never pursued it later in life.

      Cocaine is stupid AF. It’s comes from one place. Colombian drug cartels. And they are pumping the world with addictive substances in order to insure they continue to rake in billions of dollars from indiscriminate drug users, and those with weak minds, and who are prone to addiction. Not one good thing about it. Pure evil and stupidity. Nothing more.
