How To Fix Porsche Cupholder Rattle - DIY Tutorial for 911, Cayman, & Boxster (997, 987, 991, 981)

Do you have a rattle coming from the cupholder on your Porsche 997, 987, 991, or 981? In this video, I'll show you how to fix one of the most common cupholder rattle causes on the 911, Cayman, and Boxster. Porsche uses a plastic rod attached to a spring to keep the cupholder spring loaded. However, this plastic rod can break. But fortunately, you can easily repair it yourself using some common tools and household items (product links below):

describe what that green strip is that you used and where to get it?

It’s like a bread tie if I’m not mistaken but I think you can literally use anything. The key seems to be the tension.

I own a Beemer with these stupid cassette drink holders… how can they make such a fine machine, charge so much money and… we get these tiny junk cup holders??? WHY?! Is Irony in the design plan? The ugliest Chevy or Ford has great cup holders, yet our German cars get… these lol

The 997 doesn't have a good place for a normal cup holder. These actually work very well, but the design definitely leaves more points of fault than your standard cupholder.

@@CarFanatic I've never seen a Porsche with a great place for a cup holder lol And they use cup holders for a water bottle or small coffee. Brutal
