Thank you for the breakdown, I am currently studying for my CCNA and its good to be able to see the setup process being done by a live person rather than just reading about it.
I've had my CCNA for a year now, and I'm going for an entry level networking position now! I have had this Cisco switch for the longest time, never really knowing what to do to get started despite my certification. Your videos are what I've been needing. Very well done, and thank you. You've helped me out a TON.
Thank you my man. You are the first I've seen to literally take us step-by-step. Most folks already have us at the terminal and I'm here wondering, "how am I suppose to connect the cables and how do I access the router through PuTTY?"
I watched a lot of your videos interviewing mostly network engineers and what certs to get. This was the first time seeing you go through step by step on how to put together a device. They have the saying picture perfect. Well this video is precisely on point. You nailed it. I graduated in 2017 (Networking Technology). I've always seen the putty icon on college desktop computers but never knew exactly why it was there. Most everything in our Labs were already configured and connected. Funny thing about it, we did use switches and routers. So fortunate enough to have you on UA-cam. Thank you.
I agree. This is an excellent instructional video. I worked on 2 Cisco routers in my previous job and I wanted to refresh my memory of how its done. From what I can remember Du'An's instruction is right on the mark. Please, if at all possible, edit out the music. You don't need it and it is distracting. Thank you
I was looking for traineeship for a while to understand this kind of instructions that we can't get from normal CCNA courses and this video was really helpful for me to see how to connect to a Cisco's device in the real world. Thank you so much bro. You are Awesome !
I was missing a USB converter. I am so thankful for your video. I watched other videos on how to connect the switch, but the other videos are to long with unnecessary information. Also quick side note, I am a 23yr old black man, and it feels good to see another black man in the field I am trying to get into. Again thank you.
I sent this video (and your whole channel) to a colleague who will be beginning their CCNA RS journey. Keep the videos coming as you are inspiring many people who don't look like the stereotypical "network admin/engineer." God Bless.
This was valuable, wrapping up my Network+ and preparing for an Entry Level job as a Network Associate Tech.. one thing that i didnt exactly practice was that intial physical configuration set-up process..
Thank you so much ........I have completed my CCNA course from a local academy of cisco. I am familiar with packet tracer that is a simulation software .........your tutorial is more helpful than interacting with cisco ios in packet tracer.
Thank you. Very good instructions to follow. Will be your subscriber now. Starting CCNA certification and just bought the switch 29 and 39 series switches. Thanks again.
Best video out there, but please turn the music a bit lower. Sometimes it was hard to understand you because of it since I'm not a native English speaker.
Mr. Lightfoot, You did an outstanding job with this tutorial. I looked at a few before yours and they didn't have the step-by-step process with all the items needed for setup so I was still confused as to how to do it. Thank you for the time you took out of your schedule to help us people who are just starting to learn about these things. Keep up the good work!
Man oh man. am I glad I found your channel. You are very clear and get to the point quickly. I am doing this at work, with my supervisor's blessing but I still have to keep up with my work load and on not have a lot of time for ramblings. Thank you. Keep the instructionals coming.
Thank you so much! I just got a catalyst 1000 series switch and my unit had a mini usb type b port and I just so happened to have one of those types of cords lying around. Using usb type c and your video here I was able to set up the switch! Thank you so much 🙏🏽 God bless!
Thank you! This video actually showed me at 5:20 why I couldn't connect to my switch. Hopefully tonight I'll be able to connect! Many thanks! Great video and much appreciated!
I have little curiosity to know about cisco physical switch configuration. Though i have learned the switch configuration on cisco packet tracer virtually but i didn't guess about physical configuration. So it was enough helpful to me. Thanks a lot.
Well must admit that you are one of the best when you explain how to do it. It all makes sense. Thanks Next video would be nice if it was how to make a image of an old switch and then use on a new one.
great video, swear im going to get my CCNA.. taking my CCENT on the 5th of next month, going to keep watching your videos brother, you are a inspiration to younger brothers like me.
From those of us that have home labs, great hands on man! I just got mine a few weeks ago and honestly still doing routing mostly. I got to do some LAN labs soon. Please do some more hands on, and nice tshirt!
Thanks for the video. I was able to get into an old Cisco 3550 that was in the trash at work. Need to reset the password to get into it and use for CCNA prep. Thanks again.
I'm glad I found your videos. Very informative! Just got my hands on a Catalyst 3560 and I got a CCNA book. Keep the vids coming. Let us know how to support!
Yo! thanks man. I love the content. I was instantly transported back to my childhood when I was being shown how to do things by my older brother.... the background music is good and your common since, very direct approach to breaking things down for practical use is refreshing. Keep up the good work bro. I did like and subscribe.
You are a life saver.. I just got a switch that I can practice on but I could not find videos that show me how to get started from scratch. This video put my mind on ease. Thanks a lot for taking time to make these videos. Question: once I follow your directions in this video can I wipe the switch clean so I can start over and practice.
+Mudassar Rehman You are welcome. Yes you can do a erase startup-config and then reload. That will boot to the default image. From there you can configure it how you like.
Thanks useful info. In device manager I didn't see anything labeled ports but maybe that's because I didn't have anything plugged into the usb besides my mouse.
I have taken CCNA theory classes but never took practical classes
Thanks to you now I know how to configure a Cisco switch practically
Thank you for the breakdown, I am currently studying for my CCNA and its good to be able to see the setup process being done by a live person rather than just reading about it.

hello ? how old are you ?
It took ten videos before I got to yours before I actually was put at ease on how you initially get connected to the switch. Good job.
+Elliott Fulker Thank you. This made my day!
Thank you my man. You are the first I've seen to literally take us step-by-step. Most folks already have us at the terminal and I'm here wondering, "how am I suppose to connect the cables and how do I access the router through PuTTY?"
