I'm currently in a bootcamp training for CCNA and it's a lot to absorb within a week. I honestly feel too old to learn this stuff but then I follow up with your Udemy course and I can't thank you enough for the way you teach. You just might be the proof that you can teach this old dog new tricks.
-Great video Professor David ... !!! -I trained for CCNA with Packet Tracer and GNS3 and also trained with Cisco hardware used ebay style (I bought two Routers and two very old switches). -So if you have never touched a Cisco Hardware it is nice to have a physical lab before you get certified and go to work, but for the CCNA test the virtualized tools like Packet Tracer and GNS3 are more than enough. -The only things that in the physical lab were cool was to update the IOS on them when I went to trunk from one switch to the other and it didn't close and that was why the Ethernet interface is old and as there was no Auto MDI-X to automatically invert the Rx and TX on the cable) I had to assemble a "cross cable" that was once something that could happen but nowadays in new production environment hardware it rarely happens, but it was nice to find this error in the troubleshooting, but apart from those details that are much more for the professional routine than for the CCNA test, the physical lab for those who have had contact with real hardware is to spend money unnecessary for CCNA. -Thanks for the content .... !!!
David you are my superstar. Started my career in network. Your videos help me a lot. In fact i should say, whatever i have learn till date , is you motivation and from you. Long live David. May Allah bless you with more in this duniya.
thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to teach the basics of networking, because it's really helping a lot for beginners like me to understand things how they work. And there are not many people in IT who know how to explain things to someone who has no Idea or is a beginner in this field, so again thank you very much David!
Perfect timing, I just got a renewed cisco 2911 to mess around with. I'll definitely be using packet tracer but figured it would be good to get my hands on a couple different devices.
what is like working as a CCNA tech/associate or for routing and switching? Can you travel to various locations while configuring networking functions for different businesses? Or is it more of a desk job/career/profession?
I just realize that packet tracer can simulate the real world physically. Like connecting the router into the pc using console, all I know just drag n drop the router and then type on that CLI mode 😅. Thanks for the tips! better connecting like real world physically rather than just clicked the router and then just config that's lie😂
A multilayer switch is a switch that works not only in the data link layer but also higher up the osi layer model. A example of multilayer switches are core switches. A multilayer switch have routing capabilities
This timing is so strange. Saturday I have my first on-site visit by myself and have to configure a SAN Switch which I never did before. And there it is, the video I needed.... this timing again :D
Probably difficult to get an answer so much later than this video was published but will try: I am trying to test some SIP-related things, and the ideal scenario since I don't have hardware would be if packet tracer had SIP simulation/functionality. I don't see anything online though. Am I missing something or indeed there is simply no way?
Both are the same. My site supports me more, but you may prefer Udemy as they have more features. Choose the one that you like more. Thank you for your support!
David, it's been awhile since I took a cisco certification. Any idea if they've update the exams simulation to have a packettracer like feel? Thanks for the great videos and insights as always.
I think you need a driver installed to be able to do this in windows 11. I had it set up and working in windows 10, but upon upgrading to windows 11, it now doesn't work. Any ideas?
Both are good. Packet Tracer is best if you are new to networking. It is also fine for CCNA. But, once you want to learn more, then GNS3, CML or EVE-NG are much better.
@@davidbombal In 2019, when i got my ccna i didn't know any network simulation tool other than packet tracer. I heard about GNS3 last year through your course and i really can't wait to play with it
The complete networking fundamental course is still great which will build a great foundation in networking technologies. The topics discussed, a huge chuck of it is still being used in the production environment.
