The house they used in the film was my friend's childhood home in Glendale, CA. His mom still lives there today. My friend was about 3 years old at the time. All the filming was done inside. His younger brother's room was John Cusack's room. The house has been remodeled inside, but my friend said there is some original wallpaper still there.
you have no idea how good it was. that's why we're all so heart broken today as we get older. we miss the fun of the 80s and wish life was still like that now.
Out Fn Standing work, Sir. Thank you for your time, diligence, thoroughness, and dedication to documenting the timeless greatness of the holy ruins of BOD. Amen.
You are an L.A. institution and treasure! Never stop making these, please. There are soooo many movies and locations filmed in the Los Angeles area that you've not even scratched the surface. Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Pulp Fiction, etc. Great work man.
Thank you so much for doing this one! I loved this movie as a kid. For a Boston guy who most likely will never get to the valley you’re doing an incredible service.
"there's a need for...." not for speed, but remembering these places in So Cal from here in Colorado Springs. It makes me long for old So Cal even more. I love your site. Thank you.

Lane's Camaro was a 67 RS/SS with hideaway headlights. 68 was the same body, but the easy way to discern the two is, 68 has mandated side marker lights, and no vent aka smoker windows due to the introduction of GM's astrovent system that replaced the vent windows with fresh air vents in the dash. Again, another great video man, keep it up
One of my favorite movies from the 80s! I actually graduated from Verdugo Hills High School (the exterior shots used for the movie). That school was used for a lot movies, and tv shows.
Awesome. Just awesome that you make these videos. This one especially although all your filming location video's are great. Excellent editing and just a fun watch. Great job!
Man, as a kid growing up in NYC area during the 80s I was always fascinated with life in the CA burbs, especially places with scenic mountains. Seemed like such a nice way to grow up. But of course growing up near NYC and it's action in the 80s was probably more fun.
Yeah bro, awesome video...I used to watch B.O.D. EVERY night in the early 90's on VHS in my room....one of the best 80's movies ever!....im goin to the houses next time I'm in Cali for sure.....thanks for makin this video
@ljviper lot of the locations for Last American Virgin are gone .the Pizza place was on Hollywood Blvd and Western it's now a Ralphs market ,it was a strip mall with a Pioneer chicken there which can be seen in background of last American Virgin, strip mall also used in 1982 Charles Bronson movie Death Wish 2
This is cool. One of my all time favorite 80s movies. Let alone a great John Cusack Movie. It's so cool to see where it was shot. I always thought it was funny that while they were in "town" and not on the mountain, it was such a sunny/warm location. Great video
Absolutely fantastic, I've seen this film a good few times also. Ive always liked the fact you get straight to the point on each location throughout each of your videos, that for me what makes it so good. As I say looking forward to the next one 👍
Well done I really liked this. When I visited LA last year I made a similar video about Back to the Future film locations. So I can appreciate how much work you put into this.
I always wondered that also Mark...actors do funny things I heard when John Travolta got his star on Hollywood Walk of Fame ,he used to go at like 3am to his star on sidewalk to admire it!!!

Another great one. I grew up a few blocks from Clark Jr High. Many movies and TV shows filmed there. Was skating there in the mid 80s and there was a film crew. Turns out they were filming the short lived Fast Times(no, at Ridgemont High) TV show. Got to meet Mr Hand. Could not have been a nicer dude. We saw him walking to his trailer and being the stupid punk kids we were screamed out "hey Mr Hand". He came over introduced himself as Ray and made a joke about us all being Spicolis.Ray was in his 70s at the time I think he got a kick out of a bunch of 13 year old skater kids recognizing him. I'm going to keep requesting True Romance until you do it. Lots of great locations in the SFV and all over LA. Plus it gives you an excuse to go to Magic Mountain.
5:33 I actually went to Verdugo Hills High School in the Sunland-Tujunga area of Los Angeles, CA in the La Crescenta Valley. Never thought I would see this come up in the video.
@@80sLife Hey Kurt, got some 80's movie trivia for you - Aaron Dozier - the actor who played blond bad guy Roy in this movie was in the movie Weird Science but was cut out. Also, Darren Harris - the Nerd in the classroom scene with big briefcase, was Cusack's geeky friend in Sixteen Candles and he also was in Weird Science but can only be seen a couple times, as his role, and mine too was cut down.
that school at Plainview Ave is also the same courtyard at the ending of the movie Corvette Summer where they washing off the dirty Corvette and Mark Hamills character makes up with Annie Potts character and carries her away while the sappy love song plays in the background before the credits rolls
@@80sLife Hi Kurt Thanks for your response ! Keep up the great location vlogs ..signed Phantom in Phoenix, Arizona ( I used to live in LA ,but left in 95 a year after that Big Northridge quake
Yes, Corvette Summer was filmed there, as well as Christine, Rivers Edge, The Craft, Not another teen Movie, Better off Dead, Clockstoppers, etc…as well as many tv shows and commercials. Verdugo Hills High School.
@@timothya.olmeda7299 ..Thanks Timothy..I thought so ..as soon as 80s life aka Kurt panned his camera towards the building with the tower on it..I knew I'd seen it somewhere in another movie .!!!
this is the one i was waiting for, my dude. liked and subbed! but it's not john hughes. it's savage steve holland. he also did one crazy summer, how i got into college, and the whammy. surprised that you made this mistake.
Firstly, great job, loved the video! Secondly, great idea to use (hopefully) your own kid for the paperboy cameo! Thirdly, you do sound a bit like late Norm McDonald. Fourthly, loved the intro soundtrack which sounded suspiciously newer Wave-Synth music from Lazerhawk and Night Runner.
One of my top 3 favorite films. Thx Crucial. In your research did you come across anything corroborating the rumor that the town was based on my city, Reno? One of the great 80's movies!
You have to be of a certain age to understand the Howard Cosell impersonation.
The Howard Cosell-voiced guy was played by Yuji Okumoto, who played Chozen in Karate Kid II the year after this.
yeessssss!!!!!
Rickys entrance to the dance when the doors blow open is epic
To bad the actor had to turn into a scumbag while working for Nickelodeon.

"Now that's a real shame when folks be throwin' away a perfectly good white boy like that."
That's one of the funniest lines in the movie.
That was a punchline of an old joke except a white guy said it about a black guy, except they didn't call him black in the joke
