Very good vid. But... for first timers... few things to keep in mind...
    1) you will need a special socket for your oxygen sensors you can buy for cheap online... that's if you dont want to damage it or run the risk of rethreading the thread... if you put it in wrong, it can cause major issues in fuel consumption in the future and make it harder to get the sensor off when you replace it.
    2) You will still need your heat shield if you don't want to overheat ur engine bay or have cooling issues. Especially if you are planning to use this as a daily driver or you plan turbo your car later... (which requires a different manifold to this one). If the headers on yours are different in shape or similar to the video from the oem, you can use exhaust heat shield wrapping tape. That's one of the cheapest options... Just make sure you wrap it well. This, it will make your engine last longer and keep other components from melting or getting too hot, causing leaks. You can also lose horsepower as the engine wants cool air going in... not hot air.
Hot air will give you less power... Works best for pod filters and cold air intakes in this setup...
    3) Plastic hoses are very susceptible to melting over time.
Keep this in mind when doing this, and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the video. It's the only one I found showing the removal process. I'm just putting a stock one back in because the original flex pipe wore out. As far as I'm concerned, this is the lousiest design I've ever encountered! Have been working on cars for 40 years, this is a serious $hitshow design. As flex pipes are the usual first failure point of an exhaust, with lots of pipe life left, being able to weld in a replacement should be designed in, as with ever other car I've ever worked on. Curiously I see the part is for years 2010-2013, I'm guessing they're doing something different 2014 onward. Mazda really screwed the pooch on this one!.

Thanks for the Video I have to change out the Wife Catalytic converter in her 2010 and it's like your old one getting taken out. Your the only one who has a Video on removal.

Hello and greetings from Czech republic. Thanks for the video, I need to replace flex pipe on my Mazda, but unfortunetly in my service manual there Is nothing about exhaust manifold. Where did you find your manual? Thanks for the video.

I don't think I ever got a service manual, but I don't have the car anymore, so I can't say for sure.

Hey, first timer here. I’m trying to prepare for this install by ordering all the parts I need while I wait for the headers to arrive. Which gasket do I need to replace? What’s it called I guess I should say. Part number would also be great. Thanks for this video!

Hey I saw this video now and I was wondering what you ended up going with for the install/how was it putting them in?

@@lucasmcgaugh5239 Hey, I got the Corksport 2.5L catback exhaust with high flow cat and the MSDS headers. The sound was amazing, I loved it a lot! It was crazy loud! You just need the pipe flange gasket and the exhaust manifold gasket, both I ordered from Rock Auto. It was definitely worth it in my opinion - not so much for speed but definitely for sound. The hardest part was installing the headers, it's a tight squeeze getting it into place and pulling out the old headers is even harder. You also want to replace the O2 sensors, those are a bit hard to get into place because it's another tight squeeze but it's not that bad. The catback is pretty easy, took maybe 30 mins with a friend. Make sure to order the exhaust hangers, I got them from Corksport and they worked perfect. You'll need a lot of WD-40 or some type of lube to get the hangers on.

I just tried to do exactly what you did but the manifold wouldn't come out. I got stuck on the head studs. No clearance whatsoever. Everything was removed correctly but it wouldn't clear the firewall.

Why replace the exhaust manifold? Was it leaking, making a hissing noise?
Surely it wasn’t a performance upgrade because that would not even give you 1 horsepower.

Actually replacing the header and tuning you can see up to 50hp gain with our 3s

I do appreciate the video, and the way you videoed it was quite good! But three serious flaws...
    1) I can't believe you literally had the torque wrench in your hand and used it in the video, and had the manual in front of you (we saw a partial screen shot of it), and you didn't comment on either the torqueing technique (for instance do we torque them all to X, then go back and to a final torque up to Y ft-lbs?), or on what those specific torque values were. Yeah, I saw the "??-47 ft-lbs" on the edge of the manual shot, but I didn't know if that was the final torque or what. Ya gotta tell us that stuff!
    2) I'm surprised to hear you say the heat shield on the exhaust manifold is unneeded. Ummm...it was designed that way for some important reason. If not, they would have saved the cost of materials, manufacturing, and assembly and just left the thing out.
    3) Although the text captions are great, it IS a video and would be really nice if we could just listen to you explain while we're watching closely what you're doing instead of us having to constantly look back and forth between the written text and the video, text, video, text, video, text, video...
Just sharing some feedback to make the next video even better.
