Wow Steven, this is so powerful message, thank you. I knew about you earlier but I haven't realised that you are so inspiring teacher :D
How the hell can you hit the right subject each freakin time man !? Thanks for this, this is helpin me :)
6:48 Funny thing is I don't consider myself to be very good.
Yet, I have been told by a number of people I know who have been to art school that my art is really good and that I know is purely because during those two years I've worked really hard on improving consistently and drawing consistently. Really, I think that's how you improve, by practising. I don't have any innate skill, I've still got loads to learn, but I've still managed to improve without any formal lessons.
Great advice, Thanks for making this. :)
I need to just play this video every morning, great advice as usual. :D
Hello Stephen,
I totally understand what you mean.. I've been saying all day that i'll become as good as [...] someday.. And yet, i'm still not doing anything to get there :(
It becomes more frustrating when you really want to, but have to build a responsive website and market yourself on social media first..
I was planning on drawing when I'm done with my website and the collaborartive projects which are about to end this week.. but after hearing your words im going to speed up and start next week on it.. "No more excuses!" o_o
so much yeees to this videeeoo :D i was thinking that drawing was easy that with a little bit of effort i will become better, BUT NO! now i draw every daaaay to become better at this :D :D thanks for the talks stephen :D
Thanks Stephen!
My first thought when seeing the thumbnail for this video was “I’ll watch that later”
Hey Mr. Silver that was a great talk for sure, amazing every week I come and check your videos thanks for spending the time sharing your experience with us. Talking about getting thing done and eliminating the hard one first, check out this book ''Eat That Frog'' you may know but just in case, it's an awesome book about time management.
+Leonardo Sartorelli have not heard of it. thanks
dang that message hit home. Im very ambitious and a bit of a perfectionist so that second part will have me analysis paralysis. i dont start.
do i know anatomy enough to do a comic? will i waste my time when i could have practiced a bit more before starting a comic? i have to practice practice practice but i never do start with the project.. also growing up how i did somewhere deep down im afraid of. "what if my parents and friends and family are right and i cant make a living" i ignore it of course but that adds pressure to me having to be good and my perfectionism. i just need to break that wall.
+Moises Saldana You will :) I used to be (and still am a little) a perfectionist but i'm slowly realizing how much beauty and freedom is there in imperfections and flawed things !
So it's 5 months later. Did you get started?
I start and stop. Lately i been on, drawing everyday creating my characters and playing with different styles.
James C thank you for asking
Everything is nothing without motivation. I've been searching for motivation my whole life yet still haven't found a way to achieve it. Life without motivation is empty.
+Bruce Wayne Hmm.I usually go to movies for motivation...with my parents.
This was a good one, thanks Stephen!
For anyone who hasn't seen it before this is a very interesting look at procrastination.

subscribed! I can see you've deeper view on procrastination, you don't just use this term without insight and thanks for that :) I'm worried that people talk about it without thinking on their own... I love the videos, articles, notes that lead somewhere outside the box like for example that one: kanbantool.com/blog/can-we-ever-beat-procrastination-at-work and your video ofc ;) all the best to you!
