Banks wasn't on every corner back in the day and people really didn't understand the banks they was new concept and not trusted like that this what people did. Find money in high up trees in there trunks could even find them high because tree grew over 75 100 years def find treasure old farm houses in the walls. My grandmother after she passed we found money in vents and walls by light switches for years 200 here 1000 here she always used that method for easy emergency money that no one else would no about like my grandfather lol

You might also think about portables winches. Some of our best finds on Carberry creek were under big boulders. The state of Oregon was OK with it as long as we only moved them a few feet. We moved a truck sized boulder on the north side of Blewett Pass and found 6 oz.s of nugetty gold under it.

You guys are breaking some miner's rules. When you find something, do not scream and shout. There are always other people in the woods and they may want your finds or come in and cover your hot spots after you are gone. It happened to me when I first started prospecting so I learen to keep my mouth shut.

Person with some enginuity could rig up a shop vac with some thin adapters to fit in them deeper wider cracks could pull some gold out of them deeper cracks
Real old fallen trees that fall and roots come up always detect them during civil war days trees was hideing spots people also just rest under alot things be stuck in root system
