Got the privilage of meeting Dan and his father at my work the other day, truly a modest and true gentleman, also quite a bit taller than I had assumed, hell of a hand shake!
I love this channel its so wholesome seeing people genuinely LOVING their work and being able to do it with their family :) I wish you the best of luck with your career and family Dan!
Hey Dan have you every tried fireing your gold quartz, putting them in a pretty hot campfire, Vo-Gus prospectin (hes Australian) did it and the quartz became super brittle and his gold was jagged and all over the place and super cool looking after lightly crushing it. Id love to see you try this and give your explanations on it.
Enjoyed watching your video of your blue chip mine. Job well done. Your knowledge and experience and information on Prospecting goldore as well as other minerals is greatly appreciated. Thankyou Dan!😀
Don't use a filter when doing what you're doing. The filter is only for cleaning the air discharge of dust. Don't use a filter for what you're doing. The vacuum will have more power.
Hey Dan I have a crazy crusher as well I cut a 4 x 4 piece of wood and put it under my trailer hitch when I was crushing. It takes the bounce out and doesn’t take as much work to crash the ore. Great video look forward to the next one.
Watching you vacuum up that ore was oddly satisfying. I hope you do more videos in the future of the Blue Chip Mine, and please show more footage of you using the vacuum!! Thanks, Dan, for the awesome videos!!!
Hey Dan! If you're going to keep using the shop vac for collecting, you can get vortex separators that sit on top of the buckets! Keeps all the nice dirt in the bucket where you can see how much you have and helps to protect the shop vac too! We usually use them in workshops but could see it being useful here :)
That's great Dan; I love it, just suck out all the dirt and everything and sift out the gold later on. It is a great way to get gold where former miners couldn't have cared less about the dirt. You also vacuum up the neighborhood and that's always good.
Doc and the folks at Gold Hog know their stuff. I have some of their mats myself. Been thinkin of gettin their Hog Moss mat but haven't decided yet. As always stay safe and stay strong.
Right on Dan! I love the format. I wouldn't mind at all if it was longer, with some more time spent on refining. The full-process videos bring meaning to the dig (which on its own can seem like just a video of dirt-moving) and context to the crush (which can seem dry and mechanical.) Very nicely done!
Hey Dan I'm a gold miner in Oregon. And I wanna to shout out to you and thank you so much for showing what you got out of the work you did that day. That means a lot, keep up the good work.
If you are going to continue to use the shop-vac, you should custom make a metal filter to replace the paper filter. That way you could only drop what size dirt you want to come through to take home. Amazing video as always!! You should also get a machete if you have to trailblaze a lot.
Could do a mesh shroud to protect the filter, but the filter is needed to keep the air clean that is being expelled. Anything bigger than fine dust will kill the impeller and motor. :) A Dust Deputy/ separator bucket in front of the vac may do the trick you're looking for.
I'm glad you are feeling better Dan. Love the "hard rock" mining videos weather gold or jems. Great idea with the vaccume as well. Work smarter not harder. Thanks for doing what you do and sharing it Dan!
I been meaning to check the big quartz seam that runs through my property for a while and now that you've shown me what to look for I might actually find a decent bit of gold this year
I’ve know about that for a little while now you can also use those little hand vacuums for narrow hard rock crevice you can’t break by using the narrow nozzle attachment.
Good morning Dan. I look forward to your weekly videos. I enjoy your videos so much because they are very informative and entertaining. Best on utube, in my opinion. I’m crushing ore today to run in my brand new gold cube. Many things for the informative videos
Dan, when you were harvesting the piretite/quartz specimens I noticed the piretite looked an awful lot like the black sand seen in your panning videos. Does the piretite end up as black sand in the rivers?
Dan it looks like you have enough room to attach an extension chute to the top classifier plate with a couple small c-clamps. At least it would allow for directing the larger chunks into a collection bucket instead of dropping out around the base, I'm sure Gold Hog will address that on the consumer model per your original observation. Best of luck with your endeavors, and thanks for the videos.
Know this is a very old post but your mosquito comment reminded me, when I was a kid we put a capful of Avon skin so soft in the washer with the work clothes to keep them away (the citronella oil acts as a bug repellant and fabric softener)
Love the long video Dan because we get to learn a lot more at once 👍. Love how u explain everything on how you do it and all your knowledge that's very much appreciated . Bless u n ur Family's n Friends n animals n Loved One's .... 💌😇
I am impressed with that gold hog, that looks pretty effective and move enough material.. my suggestion is I would hate those Wing nuts and they really should have an improved fastener Wing that's so hard to handle if your hands are cold or nerve damage. If it can get lost it just might so.. I would sure like to get out there with my metal detector and do some searching. Other people's old minor stash is pretty interesting
Dan, they make a thing called a Cyclonic separator. it's an extra bit that's made to fit onto 5 gal pails and keep heavy stuff out of the shop vac. but in this case, I think it would just automate loading your buckets! fewer trips! you just need to bring a stack of buckets up and your shop vac stays empty so you don't beat up the filter. you could do 5-10 buckets in a few hours like that I would think. the best part is they are $20 and you get to have a longer hose too Edit: You could probably make one out of some plywood and scraps you have sitting around too. just needs to fit a pail and have an in/ out port for the hose. you're working with literal rock lmao
Hey Dan that mine adventure was awesome. Heck if lived up there I would definitely like to help you work it. PS I think that gold hog can use some work. I say it should be shorter and longer. Give your dirt some time to wash out. And then have it drop through two layers of sluice boxes. More like the cube but longer.
I love your videos Dan, but holy smokes the idea of coming across a big, friendly bearded man vacuuming rocks in the middle of a forest is just so surreal I love it. Keep up the great videos. 😁
True Story ! The cleaners who regularly used to service the jewellery quarter in Birmingham ran a productive sideline . Everything hoovered from all the premises were filtered over a 3 yr period and saved , the fine particles unseen to the human eye soon added up and within 5 yrs of being a humble cleaning company the boss retired with several millions . Great idea that still has legs 👍
If you check out Klesh gold here on YT he goes to the jewellery district in NYC and scrapes up the dirt from the sidewalk and it has a ton of cut stones and gold in it.
Dan, small latches that click closed would lend to a quick assembly of the Gold Hog. That way, the two parts of the latches are permanently attached to the Gold Hog. I've seen them made out of steel, aluminum, and brass and they are made in small sizes too. With screws and wing nuts, you are almost guaranteed to lose one, especially outside in the dirt or grass. Just a thought
Oh Dan: Just clearing up the pathway was tiring just watching. "That was a lot of cutting". Thank you for putting on a show and showing us around. Sure is a nice place to explore. Regards 🇿🇦.
I love your videos Dan. You are living my dream life!! Hey, You mentioned the Honda generator... I use a generator from Harbor Freight called the Predator. It looks just like the Honda, In fact it is a Chinese knock-off of the Honda, And it uses a Honda motor that is just slightly smaller that Honda discontinued a few years ago, But China is now licensed to produce. It has great performance ( I used it for two weeks straight during the Texas winter blackout couple of years ago.) And the best feature it has.... It is HALF the price of a Honda Generator. Just thought I would pass that along. Thank you so much for all your videos. I enjoy them very much.
!!! Might be handy to use a bucket separator in front of the vac, Dan. Since you've got buckets anyway, just need the separator lid. Might at least separate the real fine, light weight dirt. Cheap and easy to build or buy.
Dan, @17:10, what is the plant with the palmate leaves you are digging under? That's a new one to me and Im dying of curiosity. I know berries and nettles, but...help! Thanks!
Hi Dan, outstanding work on your videos. You always have great variety of activity and scenic views plus mining or prospecting activity. I trly enjoy all your content and thank you for the variety and instruction. Keep up the great work my friend. You know what I mean, A?
I've found VG in ore rock before, I was a gold assayer for a mine that Goldwin ventures re-mined called Pellaire gold mine up above the Taseko lakes area of BC Canada.
Dan Hurd, keep up the great content. I learn alot from you, as does everyone else. Just tuning into your live stream now, enjoying it. Have a great day and keep on doing what your doing. Everyone have a great day!
Id love an organized playlist in chronological order of your gold findings, i wanna see these in order!
Got the privilage of meeting Dan and his father at my work the other day, truly a modest and true gentleman, also quite a bit taller than I had assumed, hell of a hand shake!
To those who care, hello and have a good day!
Hello. Hope you Have a great day
Okay, but not because you told me to.
God bless :)
Hey Dude Guy! I hope you have a great day yourself! Do you also do any type of rockhounding yourself?
Thank you for that 😊
I love this channel its so wholesome seeing people genuinely LOVING their work and being able to do it with their family :)
I wish you the best of luck with your career and family Dan!
Dan, you are such a breath of fresh air. Your outlook on life and nature is wonderful.

boosting bc this sounds important
Sounds helpful 👍
Can’t wait to see more from the mine Dan. Good video as always.
I,ve been watching gold prospecting on UA-cam and TV for 20 years, And never saw anyone use a vacuum before .. GREAT idea!
That's great Dan; I love it, just suck out all the dirt and everything and sift out the gold later on. It is a great way to get gold where former miners couldn't have cared less about the dirt. You also vacuum up the neighborhood and that's always good.
Dan, it is always fun watching your videos. Great "edu-tainment"! Buying the shop-vac at a thrift store was a stroke of genius!!
excelente video abuelo congratuletion
Doc and the folks at Gold Hog know their stuff. I have some of their mats myself. Been thinkin of gettin their Hog Moss mat but haven't decided yet. As always stay safe and stay strong.

Definitely my favorite type of video that you do.
Such a fascinating guy and like all that find gold or gems - very gard working. We are lucky to get to watch.
The shopvac is brilliant 😮😂❤
I’ve know about that for a little while now you can also use those little hand vacuums for narrow hard rock crevice you can’t break by using the narrow nozzle attachment.
Right on Dan! Loved the video of you sluicing the hardrock tailings. Super good knowledge
Thanks for showing the processing ❤

Dan, when you were harvesting the piretite/quartz specimens I noticed the piretite looked an awful lot like the black sand seen in your panning videos. Does the piretite end up as black sand in the rivers?
i think pyrite is iron/sulfur/copper mostly, so i could see it degrading to black sand which is mostly decomposed/oxidized iron, i thought?
Oh WOW! 905K! That is amazing Dan! You Rock!
How often do you see aRattlesnakes? When we took hikes north of Spokane, we saw them everywhere.
That's wild and rather funny! I guess that I never thought about vacuuming out the crevices! Looks like it worked well!
Dan it looks like you have enough room to attach an extension chute to the top classifier plate with a couple small c-clamps. great one dan! thank you for another great adventure my friend. the scenery is fantastic up there in Canada!

Those ferns are a good indicator for minerised areas.
Great video! I found it very educational and fun to watch. Thanks a bunch…
You need to get some of the Patreon laborers out there to move some dirt and find your quartz seam!!! I'm ready any time Dan!
I enjoyed watching, very entertaining. THANK YOU 🌷 👌🏽

I'd to give the video a like for the shot inside the cave looking out into the greenery, very nice!
