After over a year of working on it, my transcription of Tigran’s performance of Drip with the Berklee Middle Eastern Fusion Ensemble is finally here!!! Certainly my most ambitious project to date. Please enjoy and let me know anything you’d like to hear next!
Please note some disclaimers below:
-There are two drummers in the performance which have been reduced to one staff in the transcription.
-I added a “double time” marking to the piano solo simply to make the fast rhythms easier to read, not because the song actually goes into double time.
-There will be things I missed, as it is hard to catch everything, especially when it is all mixed together! For example, the percussive guitar during Rohith’s konnakol solo is very hard to hear at times so that may not be 100% accurate.

I don’t think it’s quite accurate, though... since there’s a pause between the last note of the second triplet and the eighth note. But the notes are all there

i’m seeing some comments confirming this but the main rhythm isn’t quite displaced triplets because those low B’s line up with the drum hits on a downbeat, so it’s just loose/swung quarter note triplets that always land on downbeats

pretty sure that main riff is a syncopated nonuplet rather than a displaced triplet and an eighth note. other than that, this is really good

1:44 is this a Polyrhythm or polymeter in the Bass?

Both, actually! It is a polyrhythm because it is all triplets, and a polymeter because it is 5 beats long (against 4/4 of the melody). If you click on my channel you can find an analysis of this track that I did back in May. There are a couple mistakes in the transcription in that video, though!
Its 8 + 7 + 8 + 7 groupings within the tuplets on 5 beats
