When you can get the metalheads to headbang in your jazz fusion composition, you know you've made it.
Who wants some TRADITIONAL ARMENIAN DJENT?!!!
"Tim, how many times do I need to repeat this? Classical guitar isn't a percussion instrument."
"SHUT UP MOM"
Still watching it in 2024. 😍
6:14 top 10 rappers eminem was too afraid to diss
So. Fucking. Metal. Jazzy. Prog. Armenian?. Indian? Loved the mashup of styles. This song is so rich in musical styles and timings.
The squirrel that lives in my backyard is named Tyrone. He comes in my garage sometimes. I'm feeding him peanuts right now. He likes this song.
6:28 when we said "takatetitdektiatato" i really felt that...
"Djent song I wrote" -Tigran Hamasyan
I let my newborn baby boy listen to this, he instantly turned 22, learned to play the bass, built a Time Machine, went back in time and replaced the bassist with himself.
That little stick trick at 6:36 is everything. Reminds me of drum corps
i'm so happy just cause this exists and i'm alive to hear it
6:06 -6:48 Mans spittin’ BARS 🔥
2:25 me, approving of literally everything Tigran does
A monastery is in white flames
Rocks are melting
Birds are chirping
A kid is playing on gran-pa's anvil
Fumes are rising
Metals are dripping
The Alchemist is mixing the crucible
As someone who grew up listening to System of a Down but now almost exclusively listens to prog and math rock, I think I've found something very special here.
Fun fact: He has mentioned in an interview that his favourite band is Meshuggah, a swedish progressive metal band! This man is a genius. I have never felt an artist music so deeply in my emotions as his!
tigran as leaders!
You rarely see guys enjoying what they're playing than those drummers. Holy, they look like they're having a freakin blast.
damn son! Such a 10 out of 10 arrangement. So pleasing for my adhd mind - growing up listening to Meshuggah, Pantera, Miles Davis, D`Angelo, Badu, albanian folk music, Primus, Gong and what have you. Why keep it in one genre. Just arrange music that is fun to play - and it will be a joy to listen to. Thank you for making something I can go back to.
Is that MARO singing? The link we needed between Jacob and tigran
2:03 i just noticed he's playing the choir part with his right hand and the crazy bass polyrhythm with his left. before i assumed he was just doubling the bass there. insane.
Charles Cornell introduced me to Tigran Hamasyan. I’m so grateful!
I knew about before the Charles Cornell video, but same.
omfg i almost died because of the epicness of this
omg Djent mixed with ethic jazz, and indian bro absolutely killed it with his insane vocal odd time signature
The heaviest Jazz in the world
This is genuinely one of the most incredible musical arrangements and performances I have ever witnessed. this right here is why I want to pursue music. Nothing else makes me feel like this
I love that MARO is just casually one of the backup singers.
It's been a long time since someone actually make prog sounds original. This is so much better than shredding over the top, and not to say much much creative, more musical to be exact.10/10 prog over here guys.
Agreed - the only part that sounded out of place was the Indian chanting by Jayaraman. India is not really a part of Middle East so it sounds as foreign as a classical piece would, compared to the rest of the song..
Yea I was impressed and in a very good way. I don't even remember when was the last time I was impressed that much, probably Dent's Verstarker was the last album I liked that much.
There's plenty of great prog coming out still. You just need to know where to look.
its called fusion for a reason
Pardon my language but, MOTHER FUCKER... This just automatically played on my on one of the UA-cam Playlist. First it grabbed my attention and then it kept me in awe, through and through. The composition, the arrangement, the instrumentalists and damn that metal section. I am not sure how many times will I listen to it on repeat...!!!
6:36 " I got you bro"
Lyrics:
Jur kuga verin saren,
Saren olorelen,
Kyt'ap'i marmar k'aren,

Jur kuga verin saren,

best part is the cut at 2:14 from the very serious focused faces of the amazaing chorus in this recording to the guitarist absolutely losing it
THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS!!! Tigran cannot possibly be a real person, good lord
needs more views? it just got uploaded lol
This is actually heavy af.
On a previous Tigran Hamasyan video someone must have asked "But can he djent?"
❤ from Iran 🇮🇷
The bassist is working so hard it's amazing....
I've listened to this so many times and only just realized that he is whispering/scatting during his piano solo at 3:29 which gives me some more insight into the brilliance of his musical mind. Amazing!
Քաղաքականությամբ Չ՜հետաքրքրվես մենակ 😊
6:36
hehehe
0:51 little section is so nasssttty with that bassline.
If this was on Spotify it would be my number 1 every year
That whole section between 3:29-4:22 was absolutely amazing. I love that little almost a minute of calm like jazz, idk how to describe it
WTF, I HAD TO CRY? My whole body is shaking
Respect from India. This has been nothing but extraordinary
This is what creative people do when they set norms aside. Several timing nightmares that are simply mesmerizing surrounded by beautiful singing, wonderful!
Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders (amazing metal instrumental band) took over SiriusXM's Liquid Metal for a half hour, playing some of his faves. This was one of them. My reaction "What the hell was that?". In the best possible way, had the same reaction when hearing Animals as Leaders the first time on that channel. Quite amazing!
I've watched this for what seems like a million times, and I still can't get over how much fun everyone is having. Love this so much!
This is a combination of many amazing Armenian traditional songs, it's cool how he's composed it
I'm in the midst of watching this completely enthralled. Leaning forward in my seat. And then 6:37 happens and I had to burst out laughing.
Perfection.
- Which is your favorite, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, Magma or Meshuggah ?
- Tigran Hamasyan : Yes.
Somebody re-attach my head, it snapped off head-banging
When covid is over I wanna see a massive Tigran + SOAD concert
Such a jam. This song never tires. This and several other works by Tigran have been on my daughter's playlist since she was born. Now that she's a bit older, whenever we let her pick on youtube, she brings us to either Tigran Hamasyan, Jacob Collier, or Snarky Puppy.
Me every 5 seconds:
*Oooooh, that shouldn't have been there. Nice*
Do you realize how much people always enjoy playing with him?
This is by far the best version of this song.
This piece blows me away. Jazz, armenian folk, METAL, with irregular tempos. AND multiple vocalist and an....auctioneer?
Holy shit...? What did I just hear? What. I'm still speechless.
That Konnakol part 🔥💃 !!! Everything about this is absolutely amazing... Meshuggah vibes😎
bro the BASS at @3:30 is unreal
This is one of the most moving live recordings I have witnessed.
I saw the piano and thought - ahhh some jazz again, and then THIS MAGIC EXPLOSION OF SOUNDS AND BLENDS happened. umami for the ears all the way. wooow. WOW.
i've watched this at least 20 times
The Armenian part is amazing.
I've watched this a bunch of times, but only today I realised Maro was part of the choir ensemble.
Armenian talents are everywhere ♥️🇦🇲🇦🇲
Wonderful to hear Berklee chorus sing Armenian! This was amazing!
Are the rhythms all notated precisely, or is everyone just playing behind the beat?
This is the best thing happened in YEARS. I'm truly moved.
This piece of music feels like it is truly the product of all the music that came before it, like all the history of music led to this. Stunning, and I can't wait to hear more things like this
This is the best composition I've heard since discovering Stravinsky!
This is without a doubt one of the most creative pieces of music I’ve ever heard, I’m LIVING for this drum set up!
If anyone is curious, or wanting to hear more of Tigran's in the same vein, the ending 'riff' @5:45 and again @7:00 is the prominent groove/riff in Tigran's song 'Red Hail' on his album 'Red Hail'. The chord progressions heard around 1:57 and throughout the middle of the track also sound very familiar to those heard in 'The Grid/Out of the Grid' and other songs on Mockroot. I can't get enough of his more groovy stuff like this, if anyone has any recommendations similar to this I would love to hear them also :)
An incredible musician, an amazing jazz song. I hope Mr. Hamasyan comes to Turkey for a concert once again. Sending warm greetings and a message of peace from Turkey ❤
Good god. The entire band is just incredible. And the way the two drummers work together is awesome! Tigran Djents hard as hell!
the bassist is the guy that played on the Meme Medley back in 2011, figured that just now. It's cool to see how good he got!
Красавцы молодцы из Владикавказ здоровья и мирного неба над головой 👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹‼️‼️‼️
Hooray for Tigran and all that sail with him.
Amo con todo mi corazón esta pieza, no puedo expresar con palabras lo que me produce, solo decirle felicitaciones por traer algo tan divino a esta tierra.
this is best music I've ever heard, not to say all other music is lesser, it is not, yet the absolute command, mastery, dynamics, sheer musicality, the interplay, the visual feast, the glory thank you
Talk about hearing music that feels completely new and different! I am so impressed with the vitality, variety and interest of this music.
This area of the world produces some incredible music.
A big shout out to Berklee too for their open mind to all kinds of music and their openness in general in educating people to be musicians in the deepest, most meaningful ways. The school is growing and changing and the students along with it. Forget the arrogance of some of these rigid music conservatories. Berklee is leading the way to something really special and new
So exited for his next album
Tigran is my favourite musician hands down
This is by far one of the best compositions I've heard for the last 20 years, Thank you great Tigran, all the great musicians, and all the cast for creating this masterpiece!
It’s like heaven for every musician here, they enjoy every millisecond , me too
Thank you Tigran and everyone who made this fantastic music . you are the best
I like how at times Mr. Hamasyan seems like he's possessed while playing the piano. My favorite pianist without a doubt.
Almost didn't watch, but so glad I did. Awesome! Mirror drummers a 6:40 sharing stick for roll is just sick!
The evolution of music takes another giant step forward. Genius.
6:35 That moment with the drumsticks is perfect
I've watched this video a countless number of times over the years, and it's just as good every time.
Incredible range of musical expression in this eight minutes, and it blossoms out beautifully from the seed of the Allegrezza Energico by Komitas that it is based on
I don't know how to express my emotions and feelings. This is insane ~
Its so amazing that every musician seems to be enjoying the hell out of themselves
You know it's gonna be fire when you have both the drummer AND bassist from the GAG Quartet
For any of you metalheads out there, the guitarist, bassist and drummer (right hand side) are from the isreali band Distorted Harmony, highly recommended. The drummer, Yogev, also has a YT channel breaking down drumming - he's a cool guy.
Then there's also MARO singing, who I thought was an established artist by then and has pieces with Jacob Collier among others.
And then I probably only haven't stumbled upon the other musicians but the amount of talent in this single arrangement is quite something. Berklee really is the top music school I guess.
Omg. What an amazing performance. So many cultures gathered in one place.
Adam Neely listed him as one of the most infulencial pianists right now
The quintuplets over the vocals is so mind-stretching
i discover you workin on stage at the jazz music festival in Nice( France), now you are a part of my life
how can anyone give this a thumbs down...just cant concieve it....?
