Surely the undying respect, jealousy and awe of musicians around the world is enough? June Lee doesn't need an award to know that he's one of the best transcribers.
Even when Tigran plays mistakes, it's sweet. The unintentional E natural at 2:26 resolves smoothly to F, the voice leading is perfectly fine, and if you listen attentively to the voice containing that E you will end up thinking he could really have chose this one as the repeating pattern, it's so sweet !
To me, this is like watching a blockbuster movie. The scenes move fast, but each one is packed with intense emotions. It's like going on a journey where breathtaking views and obstacles constantly change. Never imagined that video transcriptions on UA-cam could become a unique form of art. Thanks, June and Tigran
I feel like this is only piece I’ve heard in a while that actually explores the main theme enough and doesn’t change every 2 secs . It makes the improv more exciting and you can stretch it more cause you have the theme in you already . Love it
@@Masood.HassaniThey are markers that delineate sections or rehearsal markers. They're useful for referencing in both practice/performing and analyzing the piece.
Congratulations, June! You've done a spectacular job yet again. You have become the Transcriptions King. Your work is admired around the world. So it's not only Jacob Collier who needs to thank you. We are all grateful and wish you a brilliant career. (I wonder if Jacob has met Tigran Hamasyan?)
Great job love his phrasing they are rythemic complicated the metric modulation the odd groupings the feeling of polyrhythms all play a huge part in his playing . He thinks so much like a drummer. Grest job transcribing all this . When someone really stretches themselves past the average playing it really opens up some amazing playing .
7:03 *Slurp* Real talk, this is an absolutely incredible piece. Glad this video finally showed up in my related vids after all the Jacob Collier transcriptions I watched.
Aww man why couldn't you have done this last year when I had to transcribe it for Uni performance :( Well done! Please do more Tigran, ie Court Jester and Fides Tua :D Legend.
Thanks SO MUCH for doing this one. It's the first piece I ever heard by Tigran and I fell in love straight away back then. Just amazing to see a full transcription of it :)
@@williamdavis2505 What is computer assist in this context? Is there software we can get to help with the aural aspect of transcription? 'Cause if so, it's passed me by! But there's certainly some challenging shit out there I could use that for.
@@TeddyBearBonfire There's some software like Anthem that can provide an initial transcription (with a lot of limitations), but June Lee has done streamed transcriptions and the only thing I've seen him use was Transcribe! which is software that lets you loop and EQ.
Chon brought me here and I am so glad. Chon has gave a shoitout to some musicians in an online article I saw and I am so glad. Yay more good music to listen to.
Just when I thought I'd heard everything that Tigran can do -- he scats a tabla solo! And you transcribed it! (Slurp. :^) You know, Steve Vai earned an audition from Frank Zappa because he sent Frank some unsolicited transcriptions. Maybe you should try that strategy.
Congratulations! I started my own transcription of this tune a few years ago and took a "short" break when it came to the solo section... still unfinished ;) Great job!

Bravo, bravo, bravo! Incredible work, thank you very much and keep going on! Amazing!
holy shit I am just now discovering this music !!! this was a ride and a half, thank you for this incredible transcription to follow along with! there's a couple things I wanna do with this now that I've heard and seen it: write a snare/snare+tenor duet/full marching battery accompaniment to this and also I kinda wanna arrange this for drum corps because I see massive potential in this for that anyway this is incredible, thank you
Oh by the way, sick gig last night James, loved the Cory Henry reference in your synth solo ;) (also I lied, I am a pianist too) (I'm tricky like that)
You can buy these transcriptions of her solo stuff, if you like! I bought this and was very happy with it. www.amazon.com/Hiromi-Place-Be-Piano/dp/0739075608/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8
Yo june lee you transcriptions are awesome. I'm apart of this activity called wgi which is an indoor drumline and there is a group who used this peice for their show and it was amazing you should check it out it's called ayala high school 2018
Awesome job! Personally I would have probably made the bar lines match the 6+6+4 clave for the whole first chunk, or put the bar lines every 16 eighth notes and then have dotted bar lines after the 6th and 12th eighth notes of each 16, since having a bar line interrupt the second group of 6/16 doesn't really match the music and it's very clear he's thinking in this clave. You do switch to this kind of approach at 8:27 (GG / bar 297) in fact. But either way, congrats on a fantastic piece of work!
Thanks June for these lovely transcriptions! :) I'd really love some more Tigran, but, to be sure, I find all the stuff you are uploading on this channel to be very helpful! Have you heard the new Tigran album already? I thought the etude on that album was quite interesting from a technical point of view. Not necessarily the most expressive piece, but it has some pretty profound counterpoint.
There are still some marks missing. It is a minimalist transcription style. Perhaps add some marks for dynamics and articulation. These are often left out.
Can anyone explain how the metric modulation at 8:11 works? I just don't get it. The relationship between the dotted quarters to half notes (3 to 4) is not equivalent to the relationship between the dotted quarters tied with quarter notes to the dotted half note (5 to 6). Why does it still work? I really don't understand.
It's not true metric modulation, just the meter of multiple bars has changed from 16 to 26. If you wanted true metric modulation you'd swap the 6/8 bar for a 15/16. It still works just due to how it's played. There's no technical right or wrong. Tigran has likely decided he doesn't want to deal with such a small subdivision. Also probably feels more interesting tipping people off balance with a just 'out' metric modulation.
The dotted quarter in 4/4 now becomes a full bar of 5/8--thats why you can tell that the piano at 8:11 is slower than normal. It's not necessarily modulation as much as it is a feel change; But the only reason it sounds similar is because the 3+3+3+3+4 subdivision is proportional to 5+5+5+5+6.
Brilliant ! Beyond human achievement !! ...... June, would you have a transcription of "Leaving Paris" by Tigran Hamasyan ? If so, how can we have access to it? Thanks again.
I’m curious why in sections like 0:28 you chose to write in four when the groove feels more like two measure of 3/4 and a measure of 2/4. It’s all the same number of beats, and you surely are very accurate in all of your transcriptions. I’m just curious if this was a conscious decision or if you are hearing this groove differently than I am. Without any clearly defined backbeat from a rhythm section it is surely up to interpretation. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this. Keep up the great work!

Hi June, Is It possible to buy the PDF from you?
Yes but there is no such transcription on sale on their website. nonsense. why ?
Is there a Grammy for best Transcriptions? :)
Rogério Dec No, but there is much love and a "thank you"
that's like when you get offered a gig but they pay in "exposure"

You are an absolute saint for transcribing all the polyrhythms and metric modulation in the beatboxing from 6:42 to 9:38. Amazing work. Thanks!

Do the stars denote (assumed) mistakes? I always thought the E at 2:27 sounded out of place.

AMAZING WORK, I didn't even think such work was humanly possible :p
This is insane! You should try some Hiromi next if you want a challenge
I'm not a pianist, but I would have assumed that Hiromi would be easy to transcribe in comparison to Tigrans stuff. D:
True, I just really want some Hiromi transcriptions
Pianist chiming in here, you are correct!
Oh by the way, sick gig last night James, loved the Cory Henry reference in your synth solo ;)

Can you do this for like... every one of his songs? 😂
A piano piece that is headbang material, leave that to Tigran. Damn this guy is amazing
Fantastico!
So..I guess if I started learning piano today...I could surely be playing this 200 years from now
Excellent! Very well done, but not surprising considering your obvious dedication and ability!
