Learn from my mistakes and do not use a scratched bobbin case. It may cause machine malfunction and needle breakage. PLEASE Try to ignore my HORRIBLE nail polish.
Thank you for the "penny" tip!!! It was worth it's weight in GOLD! The tools they give you in the kit are worthless for getting out those little screws. I was able to fix my machine and saved myself a repair fee and a 300 mile round trip to the repair shop.
Thank you so much! THIS vid is EXACTLY the info I needed. I was just about to return my machine thinking maybe it was defective. Being a newbie at this can be VERY FRUSTRATING! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I've been tearing my hair out trying to stop my machine getting all the loose threads underneath, I'd tried everything, or so I thought. Changing my bobbin case did the trick :D
This is a perfect video...everything about it is very helpful. Your descriptions are accurate, the camera angles and clarity are great...and is just the information that I was looking for.
Laura,I can't believe it!!! For years I have struggled getting the bobbin case in correctly, Mine is scratched also and I've been having problems with it. Thank you for the video it was a great help!
O I was having a terrible time with mine untill I made sure I was only using Machine embroidery thread and med weight tear away.. Now it is working great have had no more problems ... Thanks for this too I will keep my eye out on this..THANK UUUU
Thank you..-my issue the exact same issue!! I had broke quite a few needles and looked at the bobbin case- yup! I just came across your video- and sure enough!! Same issue!! Thanks for the name of what this piece is called- going to order a replacement now too!! ( from ebay) Not concerned re your nail polish- ah your a busy woman that happens! You’ve just got yourself a new subscriber!! I saw another one of your videos- soo clear and great explaining etc !! Great 2 videos so far! Now going to order and then watch a few more of your videos today and onward -Thanks, and have a wonderful day (even though this video is 7 years old- It’s as though you just uploaded it earlier this morning- all good!!
Thank you for this video. I just cleaned my machine and tried to replace the bobbin case according to the manual (the photo was not helpful) after breaking 2 needles, I found your video and saw that I replaced it wrong.
I have a Brother sewing machine and from what I discovered I have TWO bobbin cases. The bobbin case with the green screw is for bobbin work only. I don’t know if your machine has two bobbin cases but I did notice a green screw. You may want to check your manual and get the case without the green screw.
Hello Kimberly Just like you I have lost broken needles in the machine. What do is: tilt the machine so I can locate the needle & pick it with the tweezers. Another way is to take off the plate from the bottom of the machine, that makes it easier to find the broken piece.
Z thank you again for a video i can understand I had a innovis 1000. It had this problem a lot. The repair an lasted charged me a $200 fee as i had to replace that bobbin holder.. In 2 weeks it was bad agAin i called he always said my fault. But never bothered to help.he wanted to sell me a new machine. I took it to another k said he could work on my machine but could not promise it would work later. It was 6 years old and he ended ouf selling me a innovis 1250d Same problems and i broke 4 needles this week on new machine . Forgot to say this guy said my older msch was dropped and broke Then after buying the 1250d it was being Carried out in the box it was dropped. I think i should Have got a new one. Having issues. Affaid to go back cause i asked for lessons. Was to.d i had a brothers before
I love how clear you explain things. I was having the same problem except my machine bunches up underneath (nest) and the error message says 'rethread upper thread'. I have done that and no luck. I also changed the bobbin casing, made sure I had the correct bobbin, made sure it was full, replaced the needle with a new one and it still is doing it. It starts to embroidery then stops saying to check and rethread the upper thread. Not sure what I am doing wrong??? Any suggestions?
Hello! I am glad this was of help. I felt the same way when I first got my machine, sometimes is just about learning by doing :D or better said: by learning by breaking needles ; )
Thank you. I know it is an old video. Hope you see my comment. I damaged my bobbin case and am now waiting for a new one. I did the same thing. Didn't seat it correctly. It is an expensive mistake in both money and time. I had an SE 270D and you helped me with that. I have gone through a couple of PE770s (one was DOA, the replacement died after less than 2 weeks). I had a Singer XL400 and never really liked it, sold it and my hubby bought me an SE1800. I love my new machine, I hate that I made a rookie mistake with the bobbin case.
Oh thank you! I just ruined a brand new $20 tshirt with long sleeves, but you probably saved me from taking my machine in to the shop. The last time I was charged $100 and they said it was "timing". My machine is only 16 mo. old and I just didn't think that was it.
Vicky Lynn Hello :) I'm glad you foud me! Thank you for taking the time to write. Sometimes is painful to learn by doing but at the end is worth it. You made me curious about the issue of timing. I found a few videos here in UA-cam ua-cam.com/video/fzhR6PNlI4E/v-deo.html
$45 i replaced 2 in one month. Thank you so much for making this clear.. I would take it in and the men repairer would just say its my fault but never showed me how to fix it or what i did wrong .
+Augusta Porter I am glad you found me and specially that you took the time to write :) Is in it great to learn new things :) I am very glad I can share.
You did a good job explaining. I am having trouble with my bobbin thread being used all the time. I changed tensions and it still uses the bobbin thread?
Hello Christie, I am sorry but I don't fully understand what the problem is with the bobbin thread :( Anyhow I want to share this: When the thread keeps getting stuck under the needle plate one of the issues has been the bobbin thread. When I use PLASTIC BOBBINS that are almost running out of thread, the machine moves the bobbin out of place & the thread tangles. To fix this little issue, I replace the bobbin with a METAL BOBBIN, the weight of it keeps it in place. That is one more thing to think about when troubleshooting little errors.
You have no idea, how many times I tore the cloth because of the needles breaking. I thought it was the width of the needles, I've tried like 65/9, 75/11 and crap but... it was the freaking bobbin case! It looked like a raptor was clawing through it!
My bobbin case looks the same (se625) but i have like a whole half inch of play while yours is very set in place. I cant seem to set it any different way :(
I have a brother pe-190 D Embroidery Machine. It is not sewing it duss the moshone but not picking up the thred . I put a new program disk in it nearlie did the deadline and just stoped . I’ve had it apart changed the needle. Put a new bobbin in and it is not sewing enything now please can enny one help. Persivercly for this make off Machine only thank you
My embroidery machine brother tounch button close out want close out when touch ! The Sew and Vac said they never have seen that before! what is the promblem
Thank you. I have an older brother and it bunches underneath, but my bobbin case is fine. I am still searching for an answer to why it does that when I try to embroider.
+Flying Lady 76 Hello, these are a few things I would check: Make sure the tension of the thread is set correctly. Check the type of thread is being used. My Bernina sometimes doesn't work well with the embroidery thread that the Brother machine uses. The weight of bthe backing, the fabric and the needle are the right type.
Thank you Laura for your help. I have had a "duh" moment. If I had read the directions none of this would have happened. I neglected to change the foot. Which, by the way, is a royal pain on my SE270D. As soon as I did that everything worked perfectly. I was ready to chuck the machine. According to Brother it is retired, so there really isn't any support. I have sewn on an 1970s Kenmore zigzag for many years, still works like a charm. Thank you again for answering my question.
I am glad you figure it out. I love those eureka moments :) I was curios about the model of machine you have, I found the manual online www.brother-usa.com/VirData/Content/en-US%5CHAD%5CConsumer%5CUsersManual%5CUM_SE_270D_EN_6927.PDF

This is a perfect video...everything about it is very helpful. Your descriptions are accurate, the camera angles and clarity are great...and is just the information that I was looking for.

Thanks so much! I am experiencing the same problem and noticed a small scratch on the bobbin case so I am getting a new one.
love that you use chopstick for pointing. My chopstick is one of my favorite sewing tools! :)
Hello :) I love that you took the time to write! chopsticks are really handy :)

I wrote in one F your other videos but after searching. I think I found the issue. Praying this works for me too. Thank you.
Thank you! I couldn't figure out how to get the case back in.

Mine is doing this! 😤 Have you been able to figure out the problem?

Hello! I am glad this was of help. I felt the same way when I first got my machine, sometimes is just about learning by doing :D or better said: by learning by breaking needles ; )
I bet that is my problem, as I looked and low and behold...in there wrong. Will give it a try later. Thank you so much for this video.
I am very glad this was helpful :) One can really enjoy this machine, as long as the errors don't come along.
Thank you. Excellent help. In my case just move something like 2 millimeters . You solve my problem. Thank you again

My bobbin case broke at top slightly . I'm going to order a new one. Thanks. I didn't realize they were so sensitive. Needles kept breaking too.

Thank you Laura, You are a Star 🤩
Don;t forget to put a drop of oil in the race where your bobbin case sits. It will greatly add to the life of the case.
Thank you so much for the comment! Great remainder :)

Hello cutflower :) I use the same bobbin case for both tasks, sewing and embroidery.
You are awesome! I fixed the problem
Thank you for help!
This happened to me today and my bobbin case broke it was always scratched.
Thank you. I have an older brother and it bunches underneath, but my bobbin case is fine. I am still searching for an answer to why it does that when I try to embroider.

www.brother-usa.com/VirData/Content/en-US%5CHAD%5CConsumer%5CUsersManual%5CUM_SE_270D_EN_6927.PDF
Check your upper tension. There might be broken thread in the upper part of the machine.
