I literally laughed out loud when you threw all the buzz words out! As both an electric player and mixer, this is such a great video! Thanks so much James! A potential part two, though borderline dangerous territory, could be what specific styles/sounds make an electric sound great in a mix versus stand out too much/not enough. Many videos discuss what types of tones you can get; few discuss which tones blend well into the mix. Thanks again!
Nevermind just saw some information on gating. Thanks again!
I love your videos and I just purchased your book. I noticed however that you you never mentioned gates and how to set them up in live sound. I struggle with how to use gates if you do a video explaining gates that would be epic. Thanks Attaway your the man!!
love it
As a guitarist or sound tech or keyboardist (sometimes), I love and agree the style of Petrucci that we doesn't using reverb...
I love to double my delays and let the room doing the job or ask sound tech/engineering for helping add a thin layer of reverb...
I'm playing on a small church and the room reverb are good enough, short reverb and short amount of delay/feedback before it comeback to my ears on stages...
I use a multi effects pedal for my bass and guitar. It's called Zoom B1 Four. It's a weird name but it's a very small pedal with tons of amazing effects and it can fit in your gig bag. I recommend it.
Thanks
P90 soap bars? Or P90 humbucker size?
P90 Soap Bar is similar to bucker size. To my knowledge they typically don’t come in a variety of sizes.
do you think a humbucker needs a noise gate?
only if it's noisy
