2023 lewis is so underrated man. But back to 2024 seeing my guy struggle so hard in qualifying has been so jarring if it he still struggles next year then we know its something up with him that hes gotta try and change but his race pace is still elite so if he can sort it out he'll be a force next yeat if ferrari give him the car. Also i agree george needs to be given the credit bro was a top talent merc just haven't given him a consistently quick car yet hope they can give him that next year

Agree with everything. This year has been a confusing one, but nonetheless, he’s leaving at the right time. George has the ability to be a problem next year. Mercedes should get their act together for him

Qualifying is really dependent on reaction time and reflexes to get the perfect lap, him being almost 40 years old means his reaction time has deteiororated over time so he struggles with it, plus the mercedes car has been inconsistent so it amplifies his problems. He isn't washed but it is sort of a pattern that the older the driver is the less consistent they are with qualifying.

@@BMPHF1 What happened in Spa was that Merc tried to help George steal a win from Lewis. That so-called 'smart strategy' is something you use against another team, not your own teammate who did all the work to win the race. Not to mention, Merc didn’t even inform Lewis immediately when George switched to the one-stop strategy, leaving Lewis cruising for the next couple of laps. Moreover, Merc historically doesn’t use these kinds of 'split strategies' (e.g., the 2019 Japan GP). Even George himself stated in a 2023 post-race interview that 'he would be furious if Merc had split strategies.'
And if you still think Spa was okay, could you explain the questionable tire strategies for Lewis in Baku and Singapore? Is there any reasonable justification for not starting him on hards when he had to start from the pit lane in Baku (as Norris and Albon did, starting from the back on hards), but starting him on used softs in Singapore when everyone else on the front rows was on mediums?

So much discussion on Hamilton's performances week in and out, questioning whether he should be racing anymore after one bad performance and whatnot. I never hear any discussion of Alonso's decline who has also had a pretty bad season to his standard. Difference being, people are quick to call for Hamilton to retire because of "age" or "shelf-life" and radio silence for the actual eldest driver on the grid who has been subpar to his standard as well this season with a less stronger teammate. I enjoyed this level headed video though.

Hamilton has always been a momentum and motivation driver. This year, especially after his qualifying struggles and with his move to Ferrari in sight for next season, seems pretty clear to me he just doesn't have the motivation to perform at the highest level since the summer break. Hopefully the new challenge at Ferrari will be all he needs to reignite the spark!

He's not being sabotaged but he's having to be shut out by the team so hes not being supported anymore. Also, he's not in his prime anymore, he's got many factors going against him currently.
He'll probably be better at Ferrari but anyone expecting him to go in and challenge Charles at this stage of their careers needs to wake up and smell the coffee. To adapt to a new car and beat one of the quikest drivers, in their prime, well adapted to the car already.. stop it.

That’s precisely the issue next season. Does he still have a full season in him? Race wins definitely, but a title? He’ll have to battle 4 or 5 guys for wins and probably 2 or 3 for the title, including his teammate. And don’t forget that Lewis tended to ease off after he won the title. And next season will be 25(?) races! Chances are that he will forever remain a 7 and a half time world champion.

I stick to believe Hamilton is still on his prime today. Why? He lacks nothing such as energy, movement capacity, reaction times, spatial awareness and etc. to show his absolute best. If Russell beats him again this year, that means Russell beat him in his prime. I think Schumacher was also get beaten by Rosberg in his primed. Ham vs Russell and Schumacher vs Rosberg represent one of best driver in a generation face each other.
Like everything in the world, F1 drivers’ skill and techniques to drive F1 cars are improving. For comparison Einstein will not able to compete today's scientist because they already can perform what Einstein was able to do at young age and make a lot improvement from that. Meanwhile in Motorsport, Hamilton and Rosberg watched how Schumacher drives an F1 car, mastered it, and made improvement from what Schumacher can do.

What's strange is that he was doing fine until the last 3 or 4 races of 2023, particularly after signing the new Mercedes contract. Prior to those races, he always proved to be the fastest man against Russell. Very strange.
Lewis also admitted that it's hard to find the car's limit and behaviours because Mercedes is constantly experimenting with setups. I partially agree with this, but it's obvious that Lewis has to work on his Quali prep.
I feel like leaving the team is the right decision, a new environment always resets the negatives. Can't wait for 2025 🤞

To all Hamilton detractors, a driver looks good if his teammate is worse and vice versa. The question is how worse is his teammates relative to the grid? Albon looks super good relative to the grid when his teammates was Latifi and Logan. Now, his teammate is a sensational rookie Colapinto, he looks mid. See, how the level of your teammates can make you look like either the GOAT or mid.
Now we can apply this to Hamilton, Schumacher, Max, Senna, and Prost's and any great drivers’ teammates quality relative to the grids. If we put in an order from strongest to weakest of their respective teammates, how it should be?

2023 Lewis was P3 in the WDC without winning a single race.
2024 Lewis' last season with the Mercs and the car is either a Greyhound bus or a rocket. He gets criticism for talking about issues with the car, setup mistakes, and tire temps but other drivers do the same and are praised. Aside from rumors of sabotage, we can all agree that the suits at Mercedes have failed him since 2022. And Toto is FINALLY admitting it. LH44 has never lost his form, he's just older and knows he shouldn't risk his health just to prove blokes wrong.

      - Steps into a car that physically battered him unlike anything before while he desperately tried anything to make it work
      - First season in F1 without a Race win which goes to his Teammate of all people(because of his chief Opp no less)
      - Pleads with the team to trust him and change the car but NO, he's a 7× champion not an engineer.
-Next season arrives, he becomes vindicated in the worst way possible when his Old Chief Opp(Alonso) overtakes him on-track in a straight race.

This “report” is a joke. Criticising the best qualifier in the history of the sport for his performance this year and then starting a rant about recency bias is laughable at best. You’re contradicting yourself so rapidly, you’re basically given the wand to be struck with.
Hamilton has the best pole to win ratio in the history of the sport. You cannot forget how to put the car on top, all of a sudden. A factor must be there to explain this, either it’s a change of regulations, loss of cognitive ability, material change, retention of information, condition changes, you choose.
Wolff is trying to get at him and there’s talk about sponsors which is very plausible since Hamilton was refused Abu Dhabi tyre test with Ferrari. He’s being kept out of important meetings, crucial information being kept out of his reach. F1 is a complicated sport and you’re making it sound as if we’re speaking about a Mario Kart tournament.
If you want to touch on a subject, you being a Hamilton fan or not, use some critical thinking or stick to making “fun” videos otherwise you’ll make yourself look like a fool.
And lastly, the guy came back after the ever lasting scar which is 2021. When you’re a competitor at a very high level, sacrificing so much, to see yourself being robbed out of a victory and subsequently a championship, it’s not to be taken lightly. He managed to come back ready to roll only for Mercedes to drop the ball massively and make him the guinea pig. You have to be extremely strong mentally to come back from that.

Thank you for your perspective. I literally agree with everything you’ve said, not sure why you’re so mad lol. And the main reason I gave for his struggles is tyre preparation. Every interview he’s given, he’s said that’s been the main problem. He hasn’t lost anything in qualifying though imo. The Mercedes is just a very peaky car and only works when the tyres are in the right working range. As for 2021 - again I agree with you, but not really relevant to his struggles in ‘24.

Hamilton wasn't good in 2022 and 2023 either, in 2021 Bottas got 4 poles, Hamilton only one more. He was beaten by Rosberg and by Button and wasted several highly competitive McLarens. He was one of the best drivers of his era but his era didn't have really great drivers and the grid has become quicker since.
Leave out the idea that he is a great driver and everything instantly makes sense, no complicated explanations and made up excuses needed. The argument of a driver winning this and that in a car that isn't the fastest is a joke. The driver in the fastest car is always the one who wins as you can only judge the performance of the car by the fastest driver in that car. That is the only way you can get an idea of where the performance ceiling is it. There is no such thing as outperforming the car as thay would require you pushing the laws of physics.
In terms of 2021 the best driver in the best car won. We can only measure the performance of that redbull based on the fastest driver in that car and as Max won clearly over the course of the season the Red Bull was faster on average although it chopped and changed between the two teams often.
